Westway Trust is seeking a highly motivated Caretaker who will be passionate about developing and maintaining high standards of security and presentation of buildings across the 23 acres of estate, to ensure continuity of the use of the buildings and grounds for tenants and community use. This role will be critical to ensuring management of a vibrant, diverse and thriving estate.
You will be an enthusiastic individual with a good level of customer service who will have the ability to deal confidently with tenants and the general public.
Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:
- Responsible for light maintenance and housekeeping duties across the Trust’s buildings and estate.
- Perform simple repairs and maintenance tasks as required.
- Conduct security checks of the Trust’s properties across the estate, involving opening buildings and locking all doors and windows when not in operation.
- Inspecting buildings, including heating, cooling, lighting and alarm systems to make sure they are in good working order.
- For the general upkeep of buildings, sourcing, booking and supervising contractors for minor repairs working with the Facilities Team.
- Work with the Grounds & Gardens team to ensure Westway Trust’s land remains clean and tidy at all times (fly-tipping/bins/parking).
- Liaising with colleagues to assist in the unit base parking operations.
- Monitoring of bin collections and cleaning and re-arranging as required.
- Preparing rooms for meetings and events, including the moving of equipment such as tables and chairs.
- Liaising with Events Team to deliver support to events.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
- Three years of working with a property team or as a caretaker or in a similar role.
- Electrical and plumbing experience and / or qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Painting/decorating experience is desirable but not essential
- Good understanding of technical information, building construction and design.
- Practical ability to use and maintain tools.
- Experience of working in public open spaces.
- Good people management relationships.
- Have good time management, organisational, communication and administrative skills with the ability to work under pressure.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
As leaders within Get Further, our Programme Managers play an important part in managing the delivery of our tuition programmes and the growth and development of the organisation. The successful applicant will take over the case load of one of our Programme Managers while she is on secondment to another project. The key outcomes for this role are:
- Team: Directly line manage a team of 3-6 Programme Coordinators and Salaried Tutors and be accountable for the management of tutors within your colleges, contributing to Get Further as a whole meeting or exceeding our programme delivery KPIs
- FE partners: Achieve high FE partner satisfaction by delivering a high impact programme and developing strong relationships at multiple levels with our existing and prospective FE partners.
- Strategy and organisational development: Lead strategic projects and priorities as needed to develop the organisation, programmes and programme delivery.
- Project: Work closely with the Head of Resits Tuition Programme to support in the medium-term implementation of the EEF RCT.

Programme Coordinators
You will be responsible for line managing a team of 3-6 Programme Coordinators to deliver a high impact programme that achieves or exceeds Get Further’s organisational KPIs. To achieve this, we expect you will:
- Hold PCs to high standards of programme delivery
- Build an effective and high performing PC team
- Play an active role in ensuring that the programmes team as a whole is on track to meet or exceed programme delivery KPIs
- Support PCs with their professional development
Tutors
Our tutors are instrumental to us delivering a high-impact programme. You will be accountable for the overall high performance of the tutors delivering tuition within the FE partners for which you are responsible. To achieve this, we expect you will:
- Support and hold PCs to account for the frontline management of tutors and lead tutors
- Resolve or further escalate tutor performance management issues that PCs have escalated as per the Tutor Performance Policy
- Ensure that performance management issues are effectively tracked and made visible to the CPO and work with the CPO and wider Executive team to resolve persistent issues
- Along with Curriculum Managers, lead the design and delivery of tutor training, ongoing tutor development, and the tutor community work
FE Partners
You will be responsible for delivering high impact programmes with Get Further’s FE partners, including ensuring that we achieve programme quality and impact KPIs and developing strong relationships at multiple levels within our FE partner. To achieve this we expect you will:
- Line manage a team of PCs to deliver a high impact programme
- Proactively build high quality working relationships with staff within our FE partners
- Understand college needs and concerns so that we can proactively address them during programme delivery
- Proactively look for ways that we can work more closely with colleges and demonstrating our value to them and commitment to the FE sector
- Lead the preparation of college level impact reports and ensure the ongoing effective capture of impact data, testimonials and case studies to support report creation
Strategic projects and priorities
Get Further is a fast-developing charity, as a member of our small but mighty team we want our programme managers to be true leaders within the organisation, playing an active role in shaping and developing the charity into the future.
- Over the course of the year, we work on various strategic projects and priorities to advance the overall running of Get Further and you may have the opportunity to take a leadership role in these.
- You will have opportunities to engage and provide input, as well as your own project ideas, at an Exec and Board level on Get Further’s longer term strategy and direction.
Sales
- Collaborating with the Head of Resits Tuition Programmes to support and engage in sales activities to ensure Get Further meets growth goals related to college partnerships and student numbers, while securing new partnerships in key regions and areas for expansion. In the medium-term these goals will be closely tied to the requirements of the EEF RCT.
- Support in achieving KPIs with regards to college sales and renewals by email outreach and holding meetings.
- Lead renewal conversations with FE partners and support new relationships as needed

JOB DESCRIPTION

- Supporter and donor care: Serve as the first point of contact for supporter queries via phone, email, post, and social media. Provide excellent donor support, including thanking donors, resolving payment issues, and sending mailings. Maintain supporter and volunteer records accurately in CRM systems and ensure compliance with GDPR.
- Finance and reporting: Process expenses, supplier payments, and support budget forecasting. Assist with Gift Aid claims, monthly data uploads, and finance reports. Prepare scheduled reports and presentations to track progress against objectives.
- Team processes: Support recruitment processes, including application handling, interview coordination, and onboarding/offboarding schedules. Ensure smooth induction for new staff and manage equipment, training resources, and access.
- Events and operations: Assist with the organisation of internal training, team meet-ups, and supporter events. Support health and safety measures for team members and volunteers at peaceful protests, undertaking risk assessments and first aid training. About the Role
Sense is recruiting for a Supporter Services Assistant to join our fantastic Engagement Team in Kings Cross, London on a hybrid basis.
The successful applicant will play vital part in the Engagement Department and the charity as a whole – it makes sure that supporters have an outstanding experience of supporting Sense and know how much they are valued. Your daily task’s are varied with a mixture of in-and-outbound calling, combined with essential administrative tasks like income processing or capturing important information about Sense’s supporters and their motivations to support the charity.
The main duties and responsibilities include:
- Accurately processing fundraising income, including cheques and cash, vouchers (CAF, KKL) direct debits, payroll giving and from online donation platforms (Just Giving, Virgin Money Giving, Facebook) within agreed timescales and in line with provided procedures.
- Create or amend supporter records on Sense’s Raisers Edge database, ensuring that all interactions between charity and supporter etc are recorded accurately and in line with best practice GDPR.
- Identifying opportunities for supporters to further engage with Sense and promoting them as appropriate to help deliver Fundraising department targets (such as sharing a supporter story with our Comms team).
- Work with other fundraising teams to ensure relationships with supporters are managed effectively, both by responding to enquiries promptly and by working to the agreed supporter communications plan. There is also the expectation to attend other teams’ meetings i.e. Community, Events, Philanthropy to understand what activity is happening across the charity.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience of working in a customer or supporter service environment
- Administrative experience in a busy office environment
- Experience of using Raiser’s Edge or similar Customer Relationship Management database

Crossness Pumping Station is a unique, world heritage site built in 1865 to help rid London of cholera. Lying abandoned since the 1950s, it has been lovingly restored by a group of enthusiasts and volunteers since 1987. We are moving into the next phase of our development as a museum and need to improve our support to existing volunteers and recruitment of new ones.
