We have a job vacancy for a Dementia Specialist to join Shine as the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator. 

Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.

In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just over 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows. 

We are looking for an experienced, skilled, organised and dedicated new staff member to join Shine’s Services team to develop and lead our new NPH service.

To be the Dementia specialist for Shine.

To provide the foundations for improved health, social and emotional outcomes for adults living with NPH/Dementia and to support their families/carers.

As a Playground Coordinator you will be supporting disabled young people and their families by coordinating the delivery of an adventure play service at Lady Allen Playground. This is a great opportunity to develop your existing skills in a rewarding role and gain a strong sense of achievement. 

Working context: 

• You will be required to work variable/unsociable hours including evenings and Saturdays 
• Based on playground sites outside of regular office hours

Key responsibilities: 

• To manage and supervise staff in the provision of the service 
• Brief staff effectively so they provide a positive play experience

• Take responsibility for providing 1-1 support for children with a range of disabilities 
• Keep written children records up to date and accurate

• To assist the Manager with the physical responsibilities of the playground including site inspections, maintenance, renewals and utilities.

• Make sure the playground meets regulatory requirements including Ofsted, H&S and Quality in Play.  
• Liaise on operational level with relevant Local Authority officers 
• Attend relevant regional and KIDs meetings 
• Participation in your own supervision and Continuing Professional Development 
• Within the post there is an agreed level of decision making responsibility in the delivery of the service especially in the absence of the Manager.  

To be able to carry out this role it is essential that you have the following characteristics: 

• Significant experience of working with disabled children in a play setting 
• Knowledge of disabilities/ impairments and impact on child and family members 
• Ability to engage and support children in a variety of play experiences without supervision 
• Experience of implementing an activity programme 
• Experience of coaching and mentoring sessional workers in areas of good practice 
• Understanding of current Safeguarding processes 
• Ability to work on your own and problem solve with little input from line managers 
• The capacity to undertake, when required, the range of management, development, administrative and liaison duties.  
• Good numeracy and literacy skills 
• Computer literate- good working knowledge of Microsoft office suite

The Role

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work across both Houses of Parliament to ensure that our updated Safeguarding policy is effectively implemented and embedded across our varied teams.

The Parliamentary Estate is a mixed-use site, with many different activities involving a wide range of individuals: from members and staff of both Houses, to visitors on democratic access tours and attending proceedings, school children on educational tours, VIP visitors and parliamentary delegations, and tourists from all over the world.

You will need to work with teams across Parliament to understand these different activities, assess the risks of harm to children and adults at risk, the likelihood of those risks materialising, and how Parliament can effectively mitigate them. You will lead in the roll out of our updated Safeguarding policy alongside the development of a network of trained safeguarding coordinators, developing a community of interest to share best practice and guidance.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

• To be the lead source of advice and guidance on safeguarding policy and practice within Parliament.
• Support the work of the Safeguarding board, providing expert briefing, analysis and recommendations as required by the board.
• To act as an additional Designated Safeguarding Officer, supporting the work of the existing Designated Safeguarding Leads as required.

Our Activity Service 

The Activity Service is an important part of our organisation, delivering high quality activities to the older people of Merton. Our Activity team create and deliver a wide range of activities including a daily lunch club, crafting, poetry, singing and exercises at our centre in Mitcham and other locations across the borough of Merton.

The Activity service is busy and vibrant where no two days are the same, the service has over 10,000 attendees a year, taking part in over 700 activities and exercise classes. The service enables our community to live more healthily, happily and independently in later life. 

Age UK Merton is in its second year of a new 3-year Strategic Plan, which aims to increase outreach and engagement across the borough, and our activities programme is a very important part of that.

About the Role 

We are recruiting an Activity Coordinator to support the Activity Service Manager in the delivery and development of the Activity service. 

The Activities Coordinator will be a hands-on role, working with the team to deliver a wide range of activities both existing and new at our centre and across the borough of Merton.

The role will play a key part in organising the delivery of existing activities, ensuring they are delivered to an exceptional standard with the service users at the heart of the service.

• Responsible for daily banking and reconciliation of cash for all activities. 

• Introduce new ways to pay for activities such as online bookings. 

• Take bookings for all activities and input details on to the CRM. 

• Answer telephone enquiries for the Activity centre. 

• Greet all clients and volunteers attending the Activity centre. 

Data Capture, Evaluation and Reporting.  

• Respond to feedback and suggestions from clients to develop activities. 

• Keep records up to date on the CRM for attendees of all activities. 

• Working with the Activity Service Manager to expand the delivery of activities into areas of the borough not currently served. 

• Working with the Activity Manager to develop client feedback opportunities. 

• Support the Activity Manager to identify and write up case studies for funding applications. 

• Use the CRM to run reports to support funding bids and reporting. 

General  

• Establish good working relationships with all relevant stakeholders and liaise as required Comply at all times with the policies and procedures of Age UK Merton.

About the Role:

The Assessment Coordinator is the conduit for young people to access the youth accommodation pathway in Greenwich.  As well as triage and intake, the role supports young people by navigating their journey either by facilitating their safe return home, or into longer term suitable supported accommodation.

WellChild, based in the centre of Cheltenham, is the national charity for seriously ill children and their families. We fund
programmes and services to make it possible for children and young people living with serious illness to be cared for at
home instead of hospital.

What we are looking for:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and well organised Family Engagement Coordinator to work within our Family Team. This
role will be working directly with charity beneficiaries - parents and carers of children with serious and complex health
needs. This is a diverse and interesting role that is central to the development and expansion of our WellChild Family
Tree service.

Purpose of the role:
The Family Engagement Coordinator is vital to the success of the WellChild Family Tree Network. This is a growing network
that exists to connect families across the UK caring for a child with serious and complex medical needs with each other
and with WellChild. Through its online Facebook forum, and programme of activities, events and communications, it
provides members with the opportunity to make friends, make memories and get support.

Working within the Family Team and as part of the wider Programmes team this role will report to the Family Programme
Manager and is central to the development and expansion of the WellChild Family Tree. Key to this role is taking ownership
of and delivering a well-defined WellChild Family Tree membership experience that attracts and engages families from

Age UK Lewisham and Southwark is looking for a part time coordiantor to deliver arts and crafts, physical exercise and singing groups for people with dementia in Lewisham. Youth services are a vital component of Asylum Welcome's wide range of services for sanctuary seekers across Oxfordshire . You will lead and deliver advice and support to individual young people and organise a regular youth club, sports and other activities.

You will have part time staff support and will organise a team of volunteers, working closely with other Asylum Welcome staff and services to help young people under and over 18 to settle and thrive locally.

• This is an opportunity for you to make a real difference to the lives of Carers in Wales. You will have a supporting role in a national project between Carers Wales and Carers Trust Wales.

• You will focus on working with institutions delivering health care training and CPD for health care professionals in Wales, developing resources to promote carer awareness for health care professionals and improve unpaid carers’ experiences in health care.

• You will take a proactive approach to project support, working collaboratively with colleagues across Carers Trust to deliver against project aims, ensuring that carers and other key stakeholders are able to inform, shape and support the work of Carers Trust Wales.

We are seeking an experienced, flexible, self-motivated person who will work with the Home-Start team, training and supervising a team of home-visiting volunteers, peer Buddies and holding a caseload of families needing support. The role is based in our Watford offices with travel to families and volunteers in Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere. Home-Start is a leading family support charity, committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under the age of 5. Parent volunteers offer regular support to families in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown. 
 

The ideal candidate will have:

· Experience of working face to face with families

· Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

· Experience of recruiting, training and managing volunteers

· Skilled at delivering training

· Excellent interpersonal skills, experienced at working with a wide variety of people

· Good IT skills

· Ability to work on own initiative in a challenging environment

· A relevant qualification
