Purpose of the Job

The Director of Finance will join the leadership team, contributing to the overall management of the charity and provide strategic oversight across Finance, IT, Health & Safety and Risk management.

This role is critical in ensuring the charity’s long-term sustainability and effectiveness in supporting people who need us most. The postholder will ensure robust financial management, foster a supportive and inclusive workplace culture, and lead the development of digital systems that enhance service delivery and organisational resilience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Mission and values

• Champion a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Strategic Leadership

• Support the lead role of the CEO on Board Reporting.
• Work closely with the CEO and Board to shape and deliver the charity’s strategic and budget plan.
• Lead the development of financial and IT strategies that support the charity’s compliance.

Finance

• Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial control, reporting, and audit.
• Ensure organisation-wide compliance with internal financial procedures and legal compliance.
• Prepare reports for the Leadership Team and Board of Trustees analysing performance against KPIs.
• Provide financial reporting to high level commissioners.
• Develop the annual budget and financial forecasting in collaboration with the Leadership and Senior Management Team.
• Oversee cashflow management.
• Translate complex financial information to non-finance budget holders to help them manage their own budget and make informed decisions.

IT, Health & Safety and Risk Management

• Oversee the IT infrastructure and cyber security, ensuring appropriate development and maintenance of IT systems.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR), particularly in relation to sensitive client data.
• Oversee organisational compliance including gaining and retaining accreditation certificates including ISO accreditation.
• Oversee Health & Safety Compliance including management of the organisational Facilities function and the annual Health and Safety Audit.
• Oversee risk management policies and processes including the updating of the Board Risk Register in collaboration with SMT colleagues.

• An accountancy qualification e.g. CCBA, CIMA.

EXPERIENCE

• Extensive senior leadership experience in leading a finance function, ideally in a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
• Experience of leading and managing change.
• Experience of charity accounting and accounts preparation under SORP reporting requirements.
• Significant experience of leading and developing high performing teams.
• Experience or knowledge of data protection and GDPR compliance.

The purpose of this post, as part of Mind in Gwent’s new National Mind funded Trauma-informed support project, is to provide trauma-informed mental health support to young women, girls and non-binary young people aged 11-24 and their families in Newport.

This role has the following aims:

· To respond to the increasing mental health difficulties that young women, girls and non-binary young people with experience of trauma face;

· To improve the overall mental health and wellbeing of young women, girls and non-binary young people;

· To increase knowledge of mental health and wellbeing and improve mental and emotional literacy and resilience, for young women, girls and non-binary young people and their families and wider communities;

· To increase the number of young women, girls and non-binary young people managing their mental health without being referred to specialist higher tier services;

· To increase choice, control and trust in the trauma-informed support that young women, girls and non-binary young people access;

· To improve public knowledge of where to find trauma-informed support in the community.

The project will offer trauma-informed, restorative and resilience-based focused interventions to address trauma and reduce the impact of poor mental health. The work will be targeted, albeit not exclusively, towards racialised communities and young people experiencing poverty.

Maintenance Assistant – Yeldall Manor, Reading

Are you practical, reliable, and passionate about using your skills to make a real difference in people’s lives? Yeldall Manor, a Christian residential rehabilitation centre near Reading, is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our dedicated team.

In this role, you’ll help keep our beautiful grounds and buildings in excellent condition, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our residents as they rebuild their lives. Working closely with the Facilities Manager, you’ll carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and small projects across the site. You’ll use your own trade skills and coordinate with contractors and volunteers to complete tasks in plumbing, electrical work, general building maintenance, and appliance repair.

You’ll also play a key part in our planned maintenance programme, keeping records up to date and advising on improvements where needed. Occasionally, you’ll supervise and support residents as they take part in maintenance work, helping them develop new skills and confidence as part of their recovery journey.

Beyond the practical side, this role is about people. You’ll be part of a caring, faith-based community that supports men overcoming substance misuse. You’ll have opportunities to encourage residents in their recovery and spiritual growth, participate in times of prayer and worship, and contribute to the wider life of Yeldall Manor.

We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, organised, and able to maintain firm but caring boundaries. You’ll need to be comfortable working as part of a team, supporting others, and upholding the Christian ethos and values that underpin everything we do.

About the Service

The Ascent Pan London Floating Support Service (PLFSS) provides high-quality domestic abuse support, ‘by-and-for’ services and counselling. This partnership, which is run by 11 specialist DA organisations (including Solace), delivers trauma-informed, wrap-around, client-led support for those in safe accommodation, across London.

As a partner organisation, Solace is established in the communities/boroughs that we cover and have links and referral pathways. In working together, we can help survivors of domestic abuse, for whom refuge accommodation is not suitable, to create a life for themselves, free from fear and abuse.

About the Role

As a Housing Floating Support Worker, you will help women with practical tenancy sustainment, as well as ongoing support to cope, recover and move towards independence. You will achieve this through:

· Specialist support and safety planning, to reduce risks and harm for survivors and their children

· Ongoing casework support, including referrals to specialist advice and practical support, such as legal advice around civil and criminal remedies

· Empowering survivors with information on their rights and options, demystifying complex statutory systems and dispelling myths perpetuated by perpetrators and wider society

· Support to maintain accommodation, or to source permanent accommodation as necessary

· Financial empowerment work to maximise income, including support with debt

· Referral to therapeutic support from Woman’s Trust

· Support to link with local resources such as ESOL classes, volunteering and training to develop financial independence, and opportunities to gain social support, such as mother-and-baby groups, or formal DA programmes (delivered by partners)

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of the client group, and the ability to work with women to help them tounderstand their needs, risk assess, develop safety plan and support them in linking with other agencies. 

You will have a working knowledge of housing and welfare benefits and will have excellent administrative and time management skills.

About the role:

We work within a coordinated partnership response to violence against women and girls as part of the Angelou Partnership. Within the partnership ADVANCE provides independent domestic abuse advocacy and support for women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.

The IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy, and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process specialising in working with clients at high risk. They will work within the team to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women from aged 13, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service. They will advise women on criminal justice and civil remedies and related matters, support women to attend court where necessary, and coordinate the provision of multi-agency support. Part of the role will to be to establish positive, proactive, and innovative working relationships with services providing services to clients and partner agencies within the Angelou Partnership. As a Core IDVA will work across the boroughs mentioned above, under the guidance of the team leaders and project manager.

To be successful as the Core IDVA you will need the below experience and skills:

To be successful as a Core IDVA, you’ll need to have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse sector. As an experienced domestic abuse advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, you will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic abuse, of supporting women involved in mental health services, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

About the Role

We're looking for a compassionate and driven Service Manager to join our residential service based in Havering. This role supports residents in temporary housing who are facing challenges with substance use. As a Service Manager, you’ll lead a dedicated team, making sure we deliver high quality support, performance and improvements across our service whilst representing values of the organisation. You'll play a hands on role in supporting individuals facing addiction, homelessness, and complex needs guiding them towards stability, independence, and brighter futures.

The service focuses on providing a 24 hour, 25 bed accommodation service to residents who are deemed to be high risk. They support those who are experiencing homelessness. All admissions are jointly agreed, and placements reviewed at a weekly Complex Needs Panel chaired by the local authority. Residents are agreed on the basis that they are:

• Overseeing support related to substance misuse, ensuring effective interventions and pathways for service users
• Line Management and Leadership, supporting your team providing advice, guidance and support throughout their employment lifecycle

Job Summary

Advance delivers nationally accredited, high quality domestic abuse services across London. Advance's domestic abuse services are community based and include local authority commissioned advocacy services, co-located projects in a range of settings such as housing and children’s social care, and specialist projects for victim/survivors with different intersecting needs including children and young people.

As a Peripatetic Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA), you will provide front line support across Advance’s domestic abuse services, covering vacancies across teams to ensure service delivery remains effective and consistent. You will cover a range of roles all involving advocacy and support of people experiencing domestic abuse; some roles may also involve co-locating with partner agencies, delivering training or undertaking triage and assessment work. Your office location and pattern of work will change depending on your placement however all roles offer the opportunity for some hybrid working.

This role is an excellent opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and experience in a range of settings and would suit someone who is passionate about advocating for victim/survivors of domestic abuse. You will have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse in various areas of need, with particular knowledge of safeguarding and legislation. As an experienced domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence, of supporting women with child safeguarding, needs, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

The Fundraising Administrator is a key support role within Muslim Charity’s Community Engagement and Fundraising Team. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Health IDVA provides vital support to those affected by domestic abuse, helping them access the specialist services they need and navigate challenges in their daily lives. You will work directly with patients with a wide range of experiences and needs, offering advocacy, guidance, and practical support. A key part of the role is raising awareness among community healthcare professionals about the impact of domestic abuse, particularly on mental health, through training, guidance, and ongoing support, so that patients are identified earlier and supported more effectively.

This role addresses a need in community healthcare, where many patients are not recognised as survivors of domestic abuse. By combining domestic abuse expertise with a therapeutic approach, the Health IDVA will provide direct support to patients while helping community services and healthcare teams feel confident and equipped to respond appropriately. You will be supported by the Head of Adult Services and HIDVA Managers. You will have the opportunity to complete a formal domestic abuse qualification once you pass your probation (if not already qualified).

Through this work, the Health IDVA will help ensure that patients receive timely, compassionate support while also strengthening the skills, confidence, and understanding of community services and professionals. By building strong partnerships and sharing expertise, the role will contribute to a more coordinated and effective response to domestic abuse, ensuring that patients are supported at every stage and that services are better equipped to meet their needs.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support to Survivors

• Hold a caseload of clients, including NHS staff.
• Ensure survivors are fully informed of their rights and options, and explain the criminal and civil legal remedies available to them.
• Promote enhanced safety and wellbeing for victim-survivors accessing community healthcare, including NHS staff.
• Conduct needs and risk assessments, including DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honour Based Abuse Risk Assessment), to determine appropriate levels of support. Develop and implement safety plans collaboratively with clients to address their needs in a timely manner.
• Assist clients in accessing appropriate legal, financial, housing, medical, educational, and employment services, as well as counselling and community support networks.
• Work in partnership with police, housing providers, and other agencies to advocate for survivors and facilitate referrals to ongoing support services.
• Attend Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences when required (MARAC) and make referrals where appropriate.
• Recognise and address the needs of survivors who experience additional barriers to accessing services, including those from minority groups or with protected characteristics.
• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities for children, young people, and adults, in line with Child Protection Procedures and safeguarding policies.
• Maintain accurate client records, monitoring data, and outcome information. Prepare reports and evaluations as required for service monitoring.
• Participate in an out-of-hours rota, providing a HIDVA service within the hospital on Friday evenings and weekends as scheduled

Partnership Working and Training

• Promote the Health IDVA service and establish formal working links with GP practices and other healthcare providers (such as dental, health visiting or mental health teams.
• Attend safeguarding, handover and partnership meetings to raise awareness of the service and share our knowledge so earlier identification of domestic abuse within community healthcare settings can be achieved.
• Deliver training sessions to community healthcare staff to raise awareness of domestic abuse, safe enquiry and appropriately responding to disclosures.
• Contribute to multi-agency safeguarding meetings and local domestic abuse forums to share learning and strengthen partnership working.

 

General
