Job description

Would you like to take on a leading role in equity, diversity and inclusion at a homeless charity?

About the role

An exciting opportunity has come up to join our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team within the People, Culture and Inclusion Directorate.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) is at the core of everything we do at St Mungo’s. Our goal is to be proactive and progressive in our approach to ED&I and continue our commitment to respecting and treating everyone fairly, eliminating discrimination and reflecting and learning about ways in which we can progress as an organisation.

In this role, you will support the Head of ED&I working with the other ED&I Coordinator in developing and implementing the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, Anti-Racist Action Plan and other strategic initiatives across the organisation to achieve an inclusive culture where colleagues, clients and volunteers feel valued, like they belong and can be their authentic selves.

Additionally, you will support and take responsibility for:

  • Ensuring policies, procedures and practices align with our commitments to ED&I
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels including our diversity networks and relevant stakeholders making sure that everyone is empowered to take ownership of ED&I
  • Provide line management to Volunteers
  • Deliver relevant training courses whilst continuing to develop and improve
  • Analysing data and writing reports, identifying and acting upon areas of development

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.

About you

We are looking for someone who is proactive in championing and positively challenging practice change.

To thrive in this role you will:

  • Have proven experience of implementing ED&I initiatives and be empathetic in your approach.
  • Be an inspirational person with a can-do attitude in support of our Head of ED&I to drive our equity, diversity and inclusion agenda and other strategic initiatives.
  • Have an interest in working collaboratively, using your communication skills to take on courageous conversations, facilitating an approachable and open forum for discussion around ED&I topics and remaining open to being challenged and receiving feedback.
  • Have the important ability to influence and challenge people at all levels when required.

Our clients are central to all we do and your understanding of homelessness and the changing environment in which we work are essential for this role, along with your commitment to support transforming lives.

St Mungo's are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We strongly encourage applications from all under-represented groups.
