The Role

This position will support the Education and Workforce team in its mission to build a thriving, diverse physics teaching community and will see you support the operational delivery of the Scholarships Programme, including the recruitment, assessment and selection of Scholars, and the two-year support programme.

What will I be doing?

Working for our Strategic Implementation Manager the focus will be on leading on the operational delivery of the IOP Teacher Training Scholarships. Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Providing support to the Strategic Implementation Manager in relation to the Scholarships budget, including creating budget forecasts and quarterly invoices.
• Working with our internal Marketing Department to shape the marketing programme and evaluating the effectiveness of our various advertising channels – including our webinar series.
• To manage applications, including setting up and maintaining the online application form, screening ineligible candidates, obtaining references from referees, collating applications for the shortlisting process and assessment panels.
• Data management and storage, including providing data and analysis to facilitate monthly/quarterly reporting and invoicing to the DfE, ensuring candidate and Scholar data is captured, maintained and deleted according to the IOP policy guidelines, supporting the tracking of scholars through their initial training and into teaching.  Including, supervising the consultant in charge of the data capture of the status and wellbeing of Scholars.

Who will I work with?

You will be line managed by the Strategic Implementation Manager and support the Manager Teaching Workforce in the delivery of their projects. 

Ideally, we hope you’ll apply if your skills include:

Essential Criteria

• Experience of working in a project-based environment with significant internal and external stakeholder interest. Note that formal project management qualifications are not a requirement.
• Sustained and confident working knowledge of MS Excel and handling data
• Skilled in the administration and PM of multiple projects and ensuring quality assurance through evaluation, reporting and monitoring processes and documentation.

Nice to have

• This role does not require physics subject knowledge or teaching experience, but these would be an advantage.
• Website maintenance experience
• Experience using customer relationship management software, such as Salesforce.

The postholder will provide advice, guidance and coaching to parents and carers of children aged 8-18 years to help them to develop new awareness and skills to enhance their support to their children through a combination of group-work and one-to-one sessions.

As part of the Surrey Wellbeing Partnership, The Eikon Charity provides a wide range of emotional wellbeing and mental health services for children & young people. Through this work we have seen how challenging parents and carers can find supporting their children’s emotional wellbeing difficulties, particularly where they have Neurodivergent needs.

Supported by new funding streams, we are delighted to be recruiting to this new role of Family Wellbeing Practitioner with Neurodevelopmental Specialism, to be a key practitioner within our Family Wellbeing Service. As a practitioner, you will hold a caseload, working as part of a team to undertake assessments and deliver a range of evidence-based interventions, including EBSNA support, with a focus on support for families with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions.

Responsibilities

• To assess the needs and strengths of the parents/carers referred into the service and help them identify and implement strategies that will support them, help them identify individual goals to achieve desired change
•  Deliver bespoke programmes of support, to parents/carers of children and young people diagnosed with or being assessed for neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autistic Spectrum Condition and/or ADHD. This could take the form of time limited 1:1 or group sessions or a blended approach depending on the needs presenting themselves
• To support the creation and development of and deliver workshops and presentations for small parent/carer groups covering a range of emotional wellbeing and mental health topics relevant to children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions
• Record and review parent/carer goals using the Goal-Based Outcomes tool and use this to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions
• To involve parents/carers in the co-design of group work and ensure that the service responds to user voice and meets the needs identified
• To take responsibility for own caseload of parents/carers, some with complex and multiple needs
• To keep accurate records of individual engagement, evidence of change and celebrate progress with parents/carers to ensure support programmes can be accurately monitored and evaluated
• To provide written case studies as evidence of the effectiveness of individual interventions 
• To identify a range of specialist services and agencies who can offer further support for parents and families
• To work collaboratively with other Eikon delivery teams in delivering interventions for children, young people and families
• To promote the service within The Eikon Charity and with statutory and voluntary sector partners across the region – this might include presentations at networking events and production of promotional material

About the Youth Endowment Fund 

We exist to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

Last year, 509 children were tragically admitted to hospital after being assaulted with a knife. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives.

At the Youth Endowment Fund, we are working to create lasting change. To succeed, we must build a world-leading body of knowledge on the violence that affects young people and how it can be stopped. This means producing rigorous, relevant evidence — through synthesis, data analysis and in-depth research into young people’s lives. But knowledge alone isn’t enough. We must make it accessible and actionable: showing what works, how services need to change, and how the systems around them must adapt. And we must partner with the people who can make change happen — across policy, practice and local systems — to turn evidence into impact.

About the role

We recently started a new workstream of research into why violence happens, and which children are most vulnerable. We are working with experts across research, policy and practice to investigate: 

· What are the risk and protective factors for violence?

· Why does violence happen? What are the underlying causes?

· How can we use this research to improve policy and practice, and keep children safe?

We are recruiting a Senior Research Manager to lead a portfolio of projects in this workstream. This will include research exploring how predictive tools and algorithms are used to assess risk of involvement in violence and guide support decisions.This joint programme with UKRI Safer Streets Mission will investigate whether these tools can help practitioners identify people at risk accurately, safely, and fairly—and whether their use improves outcomes.

Predictive tools are structured frameworks that aim to help professionals such as police analysts or social workers assess someone’s likelihood of committing violence. They differ from “pure” professional judgement, where practitioners rely solely on their own assessment without a formal checklist or model. These tools have been used for years but are becoming both increasingly powerful and controversial as new approaches, including machine learning, emerge.

The Senior Research Manager will commission and oversee a research team to deliver two projects:

1. A systematic review of existing research on predictive tools in violence prevention.

2. Primary research on how these tools are currently used in England and Wales, including their practical and ethical implications.

The final report will assess predictive accuracy, impact, implementation, ethics, and equity. The Senior Research Manager will ensure methodological rigour and translate findings into clear, actionable guidance on whether and how these tools should be used.

The Senior Research Manager will also lead a range of related projects, such as:

· Commissioning new research into the causes, risk factors and protective factors for violence.

· Contributing to the development of accessible online tools (similar to our existing Toolkit) which make this research accessible and help decision makers target support where it is most needed.

The Senior Research Manager will be part of YEF’s Research team. The Research team is at the heart of our efforts to learn what works and put it into practice. We do this by developing the YEF’s funding strategy and creating free, highly accessible research summaries and actionable recommendations for policy makers, commissioners and practitioners. We’re a high-performing team which values intellectual rigour and getting to the truth, compassion for children, ambition about what we can achieve and humility about what we know. We love to discuss the latest developments in research methods, but we’re not just interested in research for its own sake. We want research to lead to actual changes in outcomes for children.

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Customer Research Analyst to join our Customer Insight Team in a newly created role.

As a Customer Research Analyst, you’ll help us understand our supporters, donors and stakeholders even better. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you’ll deliver research that brings our customers’ needs to life, supports informed decisions and drives meaningful engagement.

In this role, you’ll design and deliver both quantitative and qualitative research, providing clear and actionable insights that help shape strategy. Alongside the Customer Research Manager, you’ll help champion the use of insight in everything we do, identifying opportunities for market intelligence and consumer research along the way.

You’ll take part in pre- and post-campaign evaluations, design and run customer surveys, interpret data and share findings that inspire action. You’ll also collaborate with external research agencies, when needed, and help develop and promote our Insights Library so knowledge is shared and accessible to everyone.

The Operations and Systems Manager will work closely with the CEO, Board and staff team of 6, and hold the relationships with our external IT, Accounting and HR providers. You will also play a key role within the organisation in shaping culture and supporting staff to carry out their roles to the best of their abilities.

Flexible and Hybrid Working

Our office base is located in central London. You need to be in the office for a minimum of 1 day per week and further Team Days and Board Away Days. Travel and accommodation for working at our London office is at the job-holders own expense. Expenses incurred for SMK business outside London are covered by the charity.

The 15hours per week can be worked flexibly across Monday to Thursday, with a preference for them to include at least part of Monday and Tuesday to accommodate our weekly team meetings (Monday mornings) and Board Meetings which occur quarterly (Tuesday afternoons)..

About the role 

Our adviser teams work within local areas providing a wide range of expert information and guidance, via a variety of channels including community settings. You’ll provide a personalised service that enables appropriate levels of self-advocacy and/ or advocate on behalf of clients, signposting to other services as relevant. 

You’ll empower people affected by Parkinson’s, their families and carers to live lives that are as fulfilling as possible and to take an active role in their treatment becoming their own advocate in health and life, wherever possible. 

What you’ll do:

• Provide in depth, person centred information and guidance to clients by a range of means, including community settings, and ensuring the most efficient and effective use of resources in line with service policy. 

• Respond to enquiries through a range of channels and areas based on service need, keeping accurate, up to date online client records in line with practice. 

• Make best use of time in providing an effective client service 

• Recognise and respond to potential safeguarding situations using established procedures 

• Provide information on a variety of health and social care issues, including appropriate emotional support, employment support, employment and welfare benefits guidance and advocating with and on behalf of clients 

• Answer client enquiries professionally using a jargon-free approach and within established timescales.

• Maintain relationships and partnerships within internal and external teams and in a range of settings and ways to achieve the best outcomes of clients 

• Keep up to date with organisational and professional development relevant to your role

About the Role
Reporting to the CBF & Charities Finance Director, the Charities Technical and Strategic Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring sound, sustainable, and strategic financial decisions across CBF’s charitable and investment activities. You will oversee financial due diligence and provide specialist charity finance and strategic advice on the financial assessment of charitable funding awarded by CBF (and for other charitable giving within the City Corporation) and social investment placements to ensure appropriate and sustainable funding decisions are made that align with organisational strategic objectives.

Working closely with the CBF Finance Director, the role will support analysis and reporting across the investment portfolio held by the charity, contributing to reporting to the Investment Committee.

Working closely with colleagues across funding, finance, and investment teams, you will contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial assessment processes, portfolio performance analysis, and reporting to senior committees.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on specialist charity finance and strategic advice for charitable funding and social investment decisions.
• Approve financial assessments for awards up to £1m, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and risk management.
• Collaborate with the Funding Team to refine and enhance grant assessment and financial processes.
• Support reporting to the Investment Committee, analysing portfolio performance and maintaining oversight of operational risks.
• Provide expert advice on charity finance regulations and compliance across City Corporation charities.
• Develop and deliver training on charity accounting requirements.
• Foster collaboration, innovation, and a values-led culture across the finance and funding teams.

About You
You will be a qualified finance professional (CCAB or equivalent) with significant experience in charity finance, investment or grant funding environments. You’ll bring strong management, analytical and strategic skills, sound judgement, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-specialists. A collaborative leader, you’ll be committed to driving improvement, good governance, and impact across charitable funding and investment activities.

• Preparation and submission of VAT and Corporation Tax returns
• Providing expert tax advice and design - Monitoring tax developments and advising teams and senior leaders on complex charity tax matters
• Maintaining and reviewing tax processes and systems

You will be a Chartered Tax Advisor or a qualified accountant with experience of partial exemption and reverse charge VAT and of providing tax advice in the charity sector.
