Citizens Advice Camden is looking for a Generalist Adviser (or Trainee Generalist Adviser) to deliver a dedicated advice service to hospital workers at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

As the adviser delivering this particular service, you’ll provide one-to-one advice and casework on a range of issues, from housing and benefits to debt and employment, helping staff navigate the real-world pressures they face. You’ll be based within the hospital's staff support environment and work alongside other Citizens Advice advisers delivering a separate service.

Whether you’re an experienced adviser or looking to train, we’ll support your development with supervision and access to the full Citizens Advice training programme. You will  manage your own caseload, shape how the service is delivered, and build strong links with hospital staff and departments.

They will hold a caseload of service users identified as high-risk requiring crisis short-term intervention, providing advice, advocacy, and onward referral where appropriate.

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Housing Support Worker to join our new Supported Housing Scheme in Lambeth, an LGBTQ+ supported housing service with six units for young people aged 18-21 years. The service is due to open in late May 2025 and is part of a three-year funded joint project with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association and Lambeth Council. The role is part of the Services team and is supervised by the Supported Housing Manager. Other members of the team include another part time Housing Support Worker and a part-time Youth Engagement Coordinator.

In this exciting yet challenging role as Emotional Support Worker, you will provide valuable support to survivors of sexual abuse and their loved ones, through our helpline service. Last year, around 2,400 people contact us via this crucial service. Our helpline is a starting point for support, as men and boy’s take their first steps reaching out for help. We are also integral to the SurvivorsUK eco-system, providing support to client’s on our counselling waiting list and helping survivors navigate the different support options that are available.

We provide emotional support, information and signposting through a national helpline service, which is offered via Webchat, SMS, Email, and soon to be offered via WhatsApp and telephone. We are open from 10am to 8pm, 7 days per week.

Project

The free Financial and Wellbeing Support Service in Epsom and Ewell combines the specialist mental health support with expert benefits and money advice from Citizens Advice Epsom & Ewell (CAEE) to support clients during a difficult time. This three-year project is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

The Role

• Increase financial resilience and independence.

• Improve overall mental and/or emotional wellbeing.

We are now seeking an experienced Waking Night Keyworker to oversee all aspects of our first stage housing during the night, based at our Newham, East London homes from 10pm to 8am. The main role is to support the residents in daily living activities of an evening and morning and be available for support throughout the night. Staff will also be expected to maintain professional development through online training and maintain the monitoring system ensuring it is up to date.

Key Responsibilities

The Waking Night Keyworker will report directly to the Specialist Support Manager and will play a critical role in maintaining the effective running of Treasures Foundation’s supported housing. The core responsibilities include:

Beneficiary support

· Support beneficiaries in the evening, communicating with them about their day or any difficulties that have arisen for them

·Take a holistic approach to support beneficiary needs, seeking and highlighting opportunities for change at the individual’s and project level

· Remain awake for the entirety of the shift, aside from a two hour break, ensuring you are available for beneficiaries to approach if needed

· Interact with the beneficiaries in the morning

· Verbal and written handover to staff in the morning

Reporting and Compliance

· Use on call if needed in an emergency

·  Ensure our monitoring system Lamplight is up to date

· Complete online training

· Gather data for monitoring and evaluation

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working in the charity sector. They will be proactive, solution-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a sometimes challenging environment.

Essential Skills and Experience:

·  Flexible attitude with the ability to understand and implement policies and procedures, keeping the beneficiary at the heart of the work

· Demonstrable experience of lone working in a similar environment

· Excellent organisational and time-management skills

· Strong communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to other staff members

· IT literate

The team is involved in organising and delivering tasks which facilitate a speedy hospital discharge / make the home safer to avoid readmission and avoid admission in the first place. This includes preparing the home for discharge; fitting keysafes; moving furniture; shopping; arranging travel and providing advice.

The role will involve:

- Managing a caseload of clients.

- Developing a holistic plan of support and directly delivering aspects of it.

- Liaising with hospitals, social workers, volunteers, family members, carers and other voluntary sector organisations and services.

- Administration related to the delivery of the service.

We are looking for an individual with experience in a health or social care related field, has an understanding of the challenges facing older people upon leaving hospital, has access to their own transport and is able to undertake physical tasks associated with preparing the home for discharge. Barnardo's Kickstart Futures Service; Floating Support for Care Leavers in Sutton.

Barnardo's, in partnership with The London Borough of Sutton, is providing a floating support service for Care Leavers with low to medium levels of support needs.

The service provides floating support to Young People across a range of properties located within the borough of Sutton, as well as a small number of Young People based elsewhere in the community, mainly around The London Borough of Sutton and neighbouring boroughs.

Some residents are Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Young People (UASYP), or survivors of Human Trafficking, who are over the age of 18.

The service delivers key work support to each Young Person on an individual basis and additional group work sessions for property residents. Key work sessions are scheduled in collaboration with the Young Person. Key work hours will be delivered flexibly to meet the needs of the Young People and include regular evenings and weekends in order to fit around college and/or work schedules for Young People who are engaged in Education, Employment or Training.

We are now seeking to recruit new project workers, with experience of working with Care Leavers, to help us grow this exciting new service. We would welcome applications for as and when part time workers.
