Lead Health Advisor (Occupational Therapist) 

Salary: £38,000–£41,000 FTE, dependent on experience (£10,270 – £13,300 actual salary) 
Part time Hours: 10-12 hours per week (up to 0.32 FTE, flexible working pattern to be agreed)

We're recruiting an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist to join us as our Lead Health Advisor.

About the Role 

As Lead Health Advisor, you will be the charity's clinical specialist, providing occupational therapy expertise across our referral, volunteer and operational activities. 

You will work closely with the Referrals Officer, Operations Manager, volunteer health professionals and volunteer engineers to ensure that disabled people receive safe, person-centred and effective support. 

The role combines clinical guidance, volunteer engagement and quality improvement, making it ideal for an Occupational Therapist who enjoys collaborative working, creative problem-solving and helping others develop their knowledge and confidence. 

Your key responsibilities will include: 

• Complex Case Support (40% of the role’s time). The postholder will help our Referrals Officer to assess the suitability of complex referrals and cases. 

• Clinical Advice and Legislative Guidance (30% of the role’s time). The postholder will review our current guidance to ensure we are following best practice.

• Volunteer Support and Continuous Improvement (30% of the role’s time). The postholder will offer adhoc advice to our volunteers to ensure they are supported and following best practice. 

About You 

We're looking for a qualified and HCPC/ RCOT registered Occupational Therapist, with over 3 years’ post-qualifying experience, who is excited by the opportunity to use their professional expertise in a creative and impactful charitable environment.

We are looking for an approachable and proactive HR professional with strong generalist HR experience and a good understanding of UK employment law, policies and procedures, and HR best practice. You will be confident managing a varied workload, handling employee relations matters, building positive relationships with managers and colleagues, and working both independently and collaboratively. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as is a genuine commitment to supporting people and helping create an inclusive, positive workplace culture. Experience within the charity or wider not-for-profit sector would be welcomed, although candidates from other sectors with relevant HR advisory experience are also encouraged to apply.

About the IRM

The Independent Review Mechanism for England (IRM) provides, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education, review panels for potential and current foster carers and adopters when agencies have decided not to approve them as a foster carer or adopter, or to terminate or change the terms of their approval.

As an IRM Medical Advisor you will be providing written medical advice to caseworkers, panel members and the Contract Manager about individual applicant and their suitability to foster/adopt as well as ad hoc advice on occasions.

Usually, the need for a medical advisor’s report is requested either after:

• Health issues are identified which have been a primary concern for the agency and given as reasons in the qualifying determination letter
• The agency documents indicate health issues have been identified which may affect a person’s suitability to foster or adopt but this has not been initially noted as a primary concern for the agency
• During the course of preparing for an IRM panel, the applicant/s have a medical emergency which then needs to be considered alongside other concerns regarding suitability
• A request for information which may relate to a specific condition or general information, not related directly to the applicant/s

The role

This is a full-time role that works across all Unlimit Health’s key audiences for funding and communications. The Digital Marketing & Donor Engagement Advisor plays a crucial role in executing the delivery of a digital strategy for the charity which will underpin our strategic objectives and our income generation and awareness raising goals. 

The role sits in the Funding and Communications team.

You’ll be passionate about delivering exceptional online experiences, excited by what’s possible in the digital and social media space and be driven to use analytics to shape what you do across a wide range of marketing channels including social media, websites, email marketing.

With a flair for crafting the right message for the right audience, you will help us build stronger connections with existing supporters, as well as helping us to reach and inspire new donors and supporters.

You will have a keen interest in global health and be adept at explaining complex subjects in an engaging and accessible way to our target audiences.

The person

The Digital Marketing & Donor Engagement Advisor will have proven experience in marketing and fundraising at a professional level, with experience of MailChimp or other email marketing platforms. They will have strong knowledge and experience of content management systems in particular SEO, digital analytics platforms, data capture, monitoring and tracking. 

The successful candidate will have experience of working across teams and managing work with short deadlines without sacrificing quality of work or attention to detail, as well as the ability to organise workload and meet competing priorities.
