About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a People Advisor to join our fast-paced, supportive HR team at the Crick.

In this varied and hands-on role, you’ll be involved in a wide range of people activities, including employee relations casework, annual performance and pay reviews, delivery of management training, policy and process development, and people-focused projects that make a real impact across the Crick community.

You’ll support a diverse client group spanning research labs and operational teams, giving you broad exposure and the chance to build strong working relationships across the organisation. Reporting to a People Partner and working closely with fellow People Advisors, you’ll help deliver a proactive, customer-focused HR service, providing relevant and appropriate HR support, while promoting best practice and ensuring compliance with the Crick’s policies, procedures, and employment legislation.

This is a highly visible role, requiring confidence, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem solving and relationship building in a busy and dynamic environment.

What you will be doing

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide general first-line HR support and advice covering all employee lifecycle activity to both employees and managers, working in partnership with People Partners, Senior People Advisors and People Coordinators where relevant
• Trusted advisor to managers and supporting with all people issues enabling them to find and implement the best approach to deal with an issue at hand e.g., performance, conduct, attendance. 
• Provide advice on employee relations matters to ensure that all casework is managed in a fair and transparent manner. This will include absence management, capability, disciplinaries, grievances, flexible working and supporting on restructures and redundancies
• Provide primary support and advice to hiring managers on recruitment activity, including salary benchmarking, interviewing and support with writing job descriptions
• Manage all queries on maternity leave and other family-friendly policies, including meeting with individuals and providing support and advice before, during and after periods of leave

About you

You will have: 

• Proven experience of providing HR advice to managers and employees
• Strong understanding and knowledge of the HR support required when running employee relations cases, in particular absence management, performance management and disciplinary *
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law, HR policies and best practices
• Experience of providing advice and an end-to-end service on maternity leave and other family-friendly leave *
• Ability to work under pressure while balancing timely work output with high levels of accuracy, demonstrating excellent attention to detail *
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to proactively build effective working relationships with a diverse employee population*

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a People Advisor to join our fast-paced, supportive HR team at the Crick. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced People Advisor to join our friendly People Partnering team to provide maternity cover.

In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to managers, lead allocated ER casework, and will work on a selection of people projects. What you will be doing

JOB PURPOSE

We’re looking for a proactive, inclusive and insightful HR generalist to manage the day-to-day People advisory and operational support across our medium sized charity, while contributing to a range of forward-thinking HR projects that align our processes, policies and practice with our strategic goals. As our Senior People Advisor, you’ll work closely with our Director of People and partner daily with our managers and staff to build confidence in our People systems and strengthen understanding of good practice. With a passion for building inclusive cultures, wellbeing and employee experience, you’ll be an empathetic relationship builder who brings strong problem-solving skills, sound HR knowledge and a data informed, test and learn approach. You’ll be comfortable being hands on and working with a varied portfolio of activity. Role Responsibilities

• Manage and/or advise on employee relations work with a resolution-focused approach to disputes, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, change management processes.
• Responsible for overseeing our current HRIS system, ensuring it is used effectively, information is up to date and compliant, and more widely ensuring all HR data is sufficiently protected and compliant with GDPR in all systems and processes
• Manage the day-to-day relationship with a range of our People-related suppliers
• Produce and use People data to analyse trends and help make decisions. To include producing dashboards for managers, leadership where required.
• Oversee the planning and delivery of key activities in the HR calendar such as Employee Engagement surveys, the organisation appraisal process, and associated Internal Communications within the organisation
• Develop and evaluate the confidence and capability of managers and staff in our People practices, and systems
• Develop, update and communicate our People policies and procedures, in line with organisational strategy, best practice and employment legislation. 
• Ensure our People practices have safety, diversity, equity and inclusion at their core and play a key role in championing the delivery of our ED&I roadmap.
• Provide first line advice on our Total Reward offer to managers and staff and liaise with benefits suppliers to help us continually evolve our Employee Value Proposition.
• Support managers in inclusive recruitment processes, ensuring compliance, best practice and use of appropriate metrics to continually inform our recruitment strategy.
• Use and update reward benchmarking in line with our reward policy
• Design and deliver wellbeing related initiatives

About Working Well Trust

Working Well Trust is a mental health and employment charity in London. All of our projects share the aim of improving the lives of people with mental health support needs, learning disabilities and/or complex issues through training and employment.

We are recruiting Employment Advisors to join our IPS service, you will be based in the Beam Park Health Centre in Rainham, Barking and Dagenham, working 35 hours per week. Working Well Trust's services have previously been awarded the IPS Grow quality mark and adheres closely to the principles of the IPS model in supporting people in to employment. This role will be working with clients who have mental health support needs, wanting to gain paid employment. 

Experience of employment support is not essential, it is more important that you share our passion and commitment to employment as an integral aspect of wellbeing and supporting people to find the right job for them. You will receive training on the IPS model and in supporting people with mental health issues. We welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental health, either personally or through a close contact.

You need to have a desire to support people to achieve their employment goals, and the ability to multitask and manage your workload effectively. Good organisation skills are essential for this role, in addition to an interest in mental health, and the role it plays in the workplace. You will work with clients (managing a caseload) who have mental health support needs, to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences. You will deliver the IPS approach (for which training will be given); providing person centred support and guidance to clients, whilst building positive relationships with local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment.

You will work as part of a mental health team (NHS Trust) maintaining positive and integrated relationships, fostering a holistic approach to recovery through employment. You will work closely with clinical teams, providing a coordinated approach that always remains client led.  

You will spend up to 65% of your week working in the community of Barking and Dagenham to provide localised support to residents of the Borough.

You will also be working to targets whilst maintaining a high-quality service.

Role Purpose:

The Circle is an alternative to A&E for young people and children who are finding it hard to cope with their mental health, when medical intervention might not be necessary. We provide one-off in the moment support, and we are open every day of the year.

Mental health advisors are part of the core team, supporting children and young people aged 5-18 and their families every day. We do not have waiting lists. You are expected to work within HFEH Mind’s policies and procedures and adhere to our code of conduct/values.

This role may suit those that have worked with vulnerable children in the past, including, but not limited to, support workers, CAMHS workers and mental health workers. We work within a diverse borough and look to reflect this in our team.

Job Summary:

The mental health advisor role is a key part of the delivery of the Circle, working to support young people and their families who are finding it hard to cope. They will conduct (up to) hour long, one-off sessions with children and young people aged 5-18, providing: safety planning, coping mechanisms, psychoeducation, and signposting, and supporting in de-escalation. This will be delivered with a non-judgemental and empathetic approach.

As a mental health advisor, you will need to be ready to respond in the moment to presenting (often unknown) concerns. You will dynamically risk assess situations and be confident in raising concerns when necessary.

• Work as part of a team to provide support to children, young people and their families.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?     

This role, open to female applicants only under Section 7(2) (b & e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, involves delivering advocacy and intensive support services to all genders and non-binary survivors of domestic abuse, particularly those experiencing harmful practices. The post holder will work across hospital, healthcare, and community settings, acting as a single point of access for survivors at all risk levels. Key responsibilities include conducting DASH risk assessments, developing individual safety and support plans, providing crisis intervention, and ensuring high-risk survivors are represented through the MARAC process. The role also requires close collaboration with healthcare professionals, supporting them in managing disclosures, and ensuring survivors are connected to legal, housing, and welfare support as needed.

The advocate will play a vital role in improving outcomes for survivors, aiming to increase their safety, confidence, and quality of life. They will develop and review person-centred support plans, make safeguarding referrals, and attend relevant forums and committees. Accurate case recording, participation in supervision and training, and engagement in service co-production with survivors are essential components of the role. As a representative of Hestia, the postholder will maintain strong multi-agency partnerships, uphold service standards and confidentiality, and embody Hestia's values in all aspects of their work.
