Westway Trust is seeking a dedicated Head of Operations with a minimum of 5 years’ senior leadership or operational management experience in a multi-disciplinary organisation, ideally within a community, charitable, social enterprise or values-led setting.

In this newly created role, you will act as a key advisor, reporting directly into the CEO, and will have responsibility of key areas of the Trust’s operational functions, ensuring the smooth and effective running and delivery of services. You will directly manage the leads of HR, Learning, Communications & Marketing, and Community Engagement, supporting them to deliver high-quality work and develop professionally.

Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

• Oversight and line management of the HR, Learning, Communications & Marketing, and Community Engagement functions of the Trust.

• Be a key part of the Executive Team, chaired by the CEO.
• Maintain an overview of all projects and programmes of activity, outputs and outcomes within the role and ensure reports are written and submitted on time.
• Provide day-to-day operational leadership across teams, driving high performance, alignment with values, and maintaining individual, personal & team wellbeing.
• Develop and implement planning processes and performance management tools to ensure effective delivery of goals.
• Develop, drive and maintain the data gathering and analysis for the Westway Trust, that enables the Social Impact Framework and to play a key role in the organisation’s progress towards creating a strong narrative in respect of achievement. 
• Attend People Committee Meetings and the Board as requested, and contribute to the preparation of meeting papers as necessary in line with agenda requirements. 
• Provide upward reporting and insight to the CEO including written briefings, performance dashboards, and recommendations.
• Attend internal and external meetings, including those that require representing the Trust publicly, in line with agreed strategies and perspectives.
• Monitor, update and ensure compliance with organisational policies and legal requirements (e.g. safeguarding, employment, health & safety, data protection) to build a positive work culture.
• Champion collaboration and integration across departments, ensuring consistent implementation of work priorities that align with community needs and objectives.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Minimum 5 years’ senior leadership or operational management experience in a multi-disciplinary organisation, ideally within a community, charitable, social enterprise or values-led setting.
• Proven ability to lead, guide and motivate diverse teams and to support the professional growth of those who report to you as a line manager.
• Demonstrable experience of good practice approaches to conflict resolution, working in collaboration with others and encouraging honesty, transparency and open ways of working across teams that benefit the organisation’s effectiveness and efficiency.
• Excellent planning, organisation and performance management skills.
• Excellent writing and reporting skills, including the ability to summarise complex data and issues for decision-makers.

Desirable Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Previous experience overseeing HR or education/community programmes is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with communications/marketing functions is a plus but not essential.
• Degree-level education together with a recognised professional qualification in any of the fields this role covers - or equivalent lived/professional experience – is highly desirable.

This is an exciting senior policy role in our committed policy team leading the fight to end child poverty in the UK. The development of a UK-wide child poverty strategy in government means this is a great time to join CPAG as we look to influence to influence policy makers to adopt our evidence-based policy solutions to child poverty.

We are looking for someone to take a lead role in developing evidence-based policy positions to support CPAG’s influencing and campaigns work. You will have knowledge of political processes and how external organisations can effect change. You will have a track record of producing high quality research and analysis, including policy briefings, on social policy issues. You will enjoy working collaboratively to identify policy issues and develop solutions, working closely with colleagues across the organisation as well as externally.

The postholder will be working in a fast moving, high profile and complex policy environment and will need to balance short term priorities with long term objectives. Current priorities include influencing the development and implementation of the forthcoming child poverty strategy, sharing analysis and expertise as part of the DWP’s review of universal credit, and monitoring the development of the green paper on the changes to disability benefits, and the white paper on employment.

Robertson Bell is exclusively partnering with the British Medical Association (BMA) in their search for a Group VAT Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. The BMA is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK.  They represent, support and negotiate on behalf of all UK doctors and medical students.

Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, the Group VAT Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that the BMA Group (BMA and BMJPG) properly accounts for VAT and meets their statutory return, including overseas equivalents. You will proactively ensure that the finance systems and internal processes across the group are compliant and will manage relationships with external advisors and HMRC, as the organisation’s VAT Subject Matter Expert.

• Liaise with Group Auditors, providing support and information for financial audits, preparation of financial statements and other requests.
• Compile and communicate appropriate tax guidance and training wherever needed within the group, liaising with external advisors as necessary.

To be successful as a Group VAT Accountant you'll ideally have:

• Accounting Qualification (CCAB) (essential)
• Significant experience in VAT within a commercial organisation (essential)
• Previous experience of working in a VAT compliance role (essential)
• Knowledge of applying VAT law and how it affects corporations.
• Knowledge and understanding of UK, EU and global VAT compliance issues

My Life Films is seeking a Finance Manager to ensure the organisation is compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements with regards to the main charity and its subsidiary. The post-holder is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of the organisation’s finances, including accurate reporting and maintenance and development of financial systems and processes that are fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities – include but not limited to

The Opportunity  

WorkWell is a government funded programme that offers an early-intervention work and health support and assessment service. This provides holistic support to overcome health-related barriers to employment, and a single, joined-up gateway to other support services. 

We work in partnership with mental and/or physical health clinical teams, GP practices and other referral partners who refer clients who are currently in employment but are experiencing difficulties in the workplace and require assistance to help them return to work, remain in work or find new employment. This programme will also support those who have fallen out of work to get the support they need to return to employment. That support will be tailored to their specific needs and circumstances. 

We would like you to join our team of Work and Health Coaches to provide highly effective support to individuals and guide them on their journey to returning, remaining or finding new employment while also supporting them to improve their health and wellbeing. The Work and Health Coach is instrumental in supporting participants to remove health related barriers by sourcing and funding appropriate interventions.

Founded in 1992 by a group of mental health professionals, Working Well Trust was established to address the issue of low employment rates for people who have experienced mental health issues.  Since starting we have seen advances in the specialist support offered to people seeking employment and a change in cultural attitudes towards mental health.  

In the last few years we have adapted this approach to work with people with Autism (ASD), people with learning difficulties, physical disabilities or complex issues including homelessness or addiction.

Together we are piloting a psychologically-informed, trauma-responsive model with an embedded specialist NHS psychology team. You will be managing a multi-disciplinary team that is dynamic, creative and focused on building trust through relationships. Supporting the team to identify, engage and provide harm minimisation whilst promoting a sense of belonging. Providing rapid interventions for new people who may not need the service, alongside offering sustained support for the people who need it most.

Strategic Leadership: Work with the Directors and Advisory Board to support long-term planning and strategic development. Creatively implement systems and structures to maximise service delivery, productivity, and income. 

Operations and Facilities Management: Oversee the booking and management of clinic and event rooms, maintain high standards of customer service for building users and visitors, liaise with contractors regarding building maintenance and manage the general upkeep of facilities to maintain a high standard of health and safety. Respond to issues in a timely manner and maintain relationships with building users. 

Financial Management: Lead the financial management of the organisation, monitoring project budgets, invoices, licences and debtors. Chair a monthly finance subcommittee meeting and maintain an overview of the entire organisation’s cash flow and projection. 

Governance: Act as the main point of contact for the board of directors and advisors. Prepare and attend monthly board meetings. 

Programme and Event Delivery: Coordinate internal and public events including lectures, film screenings, and workshops - providing logistical and operational support including ticketing, promotions and managing event staff/volunteers. 

Clinical Project Management: Lead operational delivery of funded projects including two subsidised psychotherapy schemes: tracking budgets, collating outcome measures, writing reports, managing timelines and liaising with clinicians and patients. This also includes managing referral pathways, responding to enquiries from patients, sharing referrals with clinicians, and line managing an administrator who supports these tasks. 

Outreach Programme Management: Coordinate our multiple outreach programmes such as two Therapeutic Playgroups, one of which is for refugees and asylum seekers. This involves acting as the main point of contact for programme staff, reporting on their activities and progress to the board, and maintaining the operational frameworks necessary to allow the programmes to thrive. 

HR: Manage all HR elements of the organisation including but not limited to: advertising and recruiting roles, drafting contracts, keeping an up to date log of internal policies, and handling any staff concerns with discretion and professionalism.

Development and Fundraising: Support grant research, writing, and application processes in collaboration with the Development Coordinator. You will be required to liaise with key funders and maintain records, reports, and track project outcomes.

Communications: Lead on internal and external communications, including newsletters, social media and website content.

The SHEQ Officer is responsible for overseeing, implementing and managing health, safety, environment and quality management systems to ensure a safe, compliant, sustainable and efficient working environment. • Development and management of our global Health and Safety management system.
• Development and management of workplace environmental, sustainable and wellbeing practices.

Key responsibilities

As the SHEQ Officer, your key responsibilities are as follows:

Health & Safety:

• Develop, implement, and maintain a health and safety system that complies with legal requirements and best practices.

The ideal candidate

• Relevant Health and Safety qualification
• Relevant qualifications in Environmental, Quality and Wellbeing practices, including audits.
• Educated to a degree level (or equivalent substantial industry experience).

Health & Safety Experience:

• Proven experience in health and safety management, including developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with safety legislation, regulations, and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).

Environmental Management Experience:

The post holder will work within our team of specialist welfare benefits advisers, as a specialist welfare benefits adviser providing information, advice, and guidance to clients in our Macmillan-funded Welfare Benefits Project, providing a welfare rights advice service to people affected by cancer to maximise their income.

Scope of role

The post holder will undertake casework, assisting clients to access their entitlements to welfare benefits and other sources of financial help. Advice will be delivered through a range of channels, including face-to-face, telephone, email, and other means, provide Welfare Benefits advice and information to people living with cancer and their families.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Case work

• Provide a full welfare benefits casework service for people affected by cancer. This includes disability benefits and other sources of financial support, such as grants and help with health and travel costs.

Welfare Benefit Appeals

• Assist clients to prepare for benefits appeals, research, and the draft was written legal submissions, and provide representation at tribunals as required.

Outreach

• Alongside other team members provide advice sessions through outreach, including at hospitals - currently St Bartholomews, Homerton, Royal London, Newham, and Whipps Cross; and at Toynbee Hall through telephone, email, and any other channel

Targets

• Meet targets as set with the line manager, which will change regularly depending on the needs of the services.

Quality Standard

• Ensure consistent quality assured advice, to AQS standard, monitored by checking casework and observations
• Maintain thorough and detailed case records for continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation
• Use all relevant case management systems, such as Advice Pro, as well as Microsoft Office applications, for statistical recording, record keeping, and document production. Ensure all work conforms to Toynbee Hall’s systems and procedures.
• Along with the rest of the team ensure stocks of leaflets, posters, and stationary, are ordered from suppliers and distributed to outreach locations
• Gather statistics and feedback to monitor and evaluate the service, providing reports as required to the steering group, funders, and partners.

Social Policy

• Support Macmillan Toynbee Hall Welfare Rights Advice Service’s social policy work by providing case studies and feedback on issues of concern to people affected by cancer; including attending internal and appropriate external meetings, and identifying and acting upon social policy issues

Essential Criteria:

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Recent Welfare Benefits advice work experience, particularly in the areas of health and disability, with at least one year’s specialist welfare benefits casework experience.
• Ability to write detailed accurate case records and drafts, letters reports, and statements in plain English.
• Recent experiences of working in a performance-driven environment and evidence of meeting targets set.
• An ordered and disciplined approach to managing a challenging caseload, meeting targets; planning and prioritising work in the face of competing demands on your time.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with clients suffering from health problems in a professional but empathetic manner, and the ability to respond sensitively to clients.
• An understanding of the issues facing people affected by long-term illness and disability, including cancer.
