Forces Employment Charity (FEC) is seeking a dedicated Families Employment Advisor to join our team, focused on providing holistic employment and training advice to the spouses and partners of serving Armed Forces personnel and veterans.
Role: you will provide holistic employment and training advice and guidance to a diverse caseload of spouses and partners of still serving Armed Forces and ex-service personnel (Veterans) with personal development, employability skills, and/or until they are settled in sustainable careers.
The programme provides a combination of coaching and mentoring, practical employment support, access to training, apprenticeships, and corporate mentoring to offer the best possible opportunities to upskill and gain fulfilling employment.
The role reports to the National Employment Projects Manager. This permanent Full-time position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some out-of-hours/weekend events, and pays £28,325. The successful candidate will be Home-based with occasional travel around Plymouth / Southwest.
Principal Responsibilities:
· Make a positive impact by putting our clients at the heart of everything you do.
· Assess individual client’s needs; identify any challenges and barriers.
· Build rapport, show empathy, motivate, and increase aspirations.
· Support clients to develop their CVs and prepare for the job application process and interviews, along with soft skills including basic digital upskilling if required.
· Networking and engagement: promote the benefits of FEC case worker support to spouses and partners (families) of Armed Forces and Ex-Service personnel, and stakeholders.
· Work with Marcoms officer to promote FEC Spouses & Partners support to beneficiaries, charities and other organisations working with military spouses and partners.
· Work with colleagues to support Employer Engagement to generate employment opportunities for military partners and spouses.
· Provide advice and guidance to spouses and partners of serving Armed Forces and Ex Forces personnel throughout the journey into employment or training following the FEC Case Management Guidance and Work Instructions.

- Provide guidance to support clients to stay in existing work, including advice on mental health disclosure, negotiating reasonable adjustments to existing workplaces, creating wellness action plans and improving productivity, support to return to work after sickness absence or to leave an existing role with dignity, and signpost clients to organisations that can represent them (EAs should only look to represent clients in exceptional circumstances).
- Facilitate access to other advice in areas such as financial benefits, debt management, food banks and community food outlets and social housing providers, as necessary.
The role holder must also:
- NVQ Level 3 minimum or equivalent in either employment support/advice, mental health or other relevant area, or equivalent experience gained through work experience in the field.
- Understanding and experience of the support needs of people with common mental health conditions in finding, retaining, returning to, or leaving mainstream employment.
- Knowledge and experience of working in a health or social care setting.
- Evidence of basic counselling skills.
- Ability to assess individual client strengths and needs in relation to employment and think creatively to provide bespoke client action planning and solutions.
- Experience of effective diary management, prioritising tasks and working to tight deadlines to manage own caseload and associated administration.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clients (face to face, by telephone and in writing) and as part of a team.
- Able to present confidently to external stakeholders and partners at various levels.
- Proven ability to work effectively and be accountable in an outcome-driven environment.
- Ability to collect and report data to support service performance and evaluation.
- Excellent computer skills including ability to utilise database and Microsoft packages.
- Willingness and ability to undertake the relevant training associated with the role and then integrate that training into practice.

They’re looking for a Policy Advisor to join their Strategy, Policy & Insights team. As their Policy Advisor, you’ll be responsible for supporting the development and reviewing of policies that support the strategic objectives of our client.
This role will support the Senior Policy Advisor with extensive research, stakeholder engagement, and the creation of evidence-based policy recommendations to ensure that our client meets its regulatory and legislative requirements, enhances service delivery, and promotes sustainable housing solutions.

We are looking to recruit a Housing Advisor to provide a structured advice and information service to clients of the centre in housing law, housing options and aspects of welfare benefits that relate to housing and homelessness. This is an exciting role in our Advice team that will manage a specialist housing caseload and provide emergency housing advice to clients in crisis. You will work closely with other teams in the centre to ensure clients are offered an integrated holistic service. You will also build and maintain good relationships with statutory and other partners and to work together with them to get the best outcomes for our clients and to monitor unmet need locally so that this can be addressed.
This is just one of the new posts we are recruiting as part of a new project to support families experiencing homelessness in and around Westminster. It follows a report we published last year on the lived experience of families living in temporary accommodation. We are delighted to have secured funding to help us build on this research and pilot different approaches to reach those most in need. We want to develop support that not only meets emergency needs but can enable longer term outcomes. Our aim is to build the case for positive change and reduce future rates of homelessness and poverty. In this role you can play a part in designing, testing and evidencing different approaches with a team of colleagues that cross different advice specialisms and professional family support.

Employment Advisor
Programme Overview
The Restart programme offers enhanced support to Universal Credit claimants who have been out of work for at least 6 months to find jobs in their local area. Starting at the end of June 2021, it will benefit more than 1 million Universal Credit claimants who are expected to look for and be available for work but have no sustained learnings. The scheme will provide up to 12 months of tailored support for each participant. Palladium will work with employers, local government, and other partners to deliver tailored support for individuals.
There are two roles, one based in Southampton and the other based in Eastleigh
The Employment Advisor will play a vital role in the success of the programme. They will be in charge of managing a case load of customers, working with them to create and follow an individualised workplan towards sustained employment. They have the ability to be a catalyst for change and really empower people to progress.
Primary Duties and responsibilities:
- Take responsibility and accountability for customers as assigned and working with them through to employment. This will include:
- Assessing the customer’s starting position to decide how to best meet their needs.

Overview of Role:
As Human Resources Advisor you will be joining a small, friendly and supportive HR team providing advice and support to managers and staff across the full range of employee life-cycle activities. Employment Details
Contract type
This contracted post is for 28 hours per week and may very rarely require some out of hours or weekend work as required. We welcome application for flexible working including reduced hours and other flexible working arrangements.
Location

Salary
