Job Title: Domestic Abuse Support Worker

Location:Based at Bede House, 351 Southwark Park Road SE16 2JW, with work at various sites in Southwark. Due to the nature of the work, this is not a remote/working from home role.

About the Role

We are looking for a Day Service Co-ordinator to join our art studio team and support people living with brain injury in our day centre in Haggerston.

You will take responsibility for organising and delivering activities in the Submit to Love art studio, such as supporting members in creating new artworks, planning and delivering events and outings, and engaging members in a variety of other activities in response to their needs and interests.

The role also involves providing advocacy and support (key working) for up to 12 members and ensuring the smooth running of the day service as a member of the co-ordinating team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Activities in the art studio:

•  Support members to engage creatively and develop their personal artistic practise.
• Work alongside the studio manager, day service members and volunteers to plan and deliver events, including artist led workshops, exhibitions and open studios.
•  Plan trips to cultural events and experiences.

Key working:

• Act as key worker for up to 16 members, checking in regularly about their engagement in the centre and their general wellbeing, and supporting them with information, advice, and advocacy as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain contact with members’ families, carers, and relevant statutory partners to facilitate good communication and better provide appropriate support.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including comprehensive individual risk assessments.

Day Service co-ordination:

• Work closely with colleagues and volunteers in the day service and other teams at Headway East London to create a welcoming, supportive, and stimulating environment for members.
• Share responsibility for practical tasks in the day service to ensure its smooth running.
• Work sensitively with volunteers, supporting them alongside the volunteer co-ordinator to take on meaningful and rewarding roles in the day service.

We are looking for an experienced monitoring, evaluation, analysis, and learning professional with strong understanding and experience of advocacy within an NGO/INGO. You will play a key role in ensuring advocacy in Sightsavers is monitored effectively, and input on Sightsavers strategic data analysis. Building on Sightsavers existing advocacy data systems, you will ensure effective data collection, visualisation and analysis; ability to develop dashboards using PowerBI would be of particular interest, although this is not essential. 

Key duties will include:

• Delivering systems for collecting, managing, and analysing information about national advocacy
• Lead on the coordination of Sightsavers’ Voluntary Stakeholder Review of SDG implementation
• Strengthening systems for sharing lessons about what works and identify challenges that are faced by multiple countries
• Engaging in internal Policy and Global Advocacy and organisational processes

The post holder may be expected to travel internationally once or twice within the 9-month contract.

Skills and Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Related Experience:

Essential

• Degree or higher in a Social Science, or equivalent working experience
• Experience of supporting national advocacy within a global advocacy strategy within INGO/NGOs
• Significant experience of monitoring, evaluation, and learning within an INGO context
• Experience working with data management information systems and applying data analysis/statistical techniques to data
• Knowledge of current issues and best practice in development particularly in advocacy monitoring and evaluation
• Ability to influence organisational strategy and promote change internally
• Ability to develop and implement effective advocacy plans and MEL systems
• Effective communication and relationship building skills with internal and external audiences

Desirable

• Experience of advocacy is essential for this role. Advocacy within human rights, and/or advocacy at an international level, would be desirable, although not essential.
• Ability to develop and manage data visualisation, notably creating Dashboards in PowerBI
• Expertise in building staff capacities to develop and deliver effective advocacy monitoring strategies
• Experience of working effectively as part of an international team

The Role

The WorldGBC is seeking a dedicated Advocacy and Engagement Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in shaping and advancing our global advocacy efforts, influencing policy, and supporting our network of national Green Building Councils (GBCs) in their advocacy work. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing policy positions, conducting research, and engaging with key stakeholders to promote sustainable building practices and policies worldwide. The Advocacy and Engagement Manger will report to and work closely with the Global Advocacy Director.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

● Support for the Global Advocacy Director: Work closely with the Global Advocacy Director to develop and implement WorldGBC's global advocacy strategy. Assist in coordinating the organization’s advocacy efforts across different regions, ensuring alignment with overall objectives. Provide analytical support, prepare briefing materials, and manage specific projects as directed by the Global Advocacy Director. Act as a liaison between the Global Advocacy Director and other team members, stakeholders, and national GBCs to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

Skills, experience and education:

● Minimum of 5 years' experience in policy analysis, advocacy, or a related role, preferably within an international context.

● Deep understanding of international climate diplomacy and national policy-making processes

● Experience managing relationships with policymakers and stakeholders and ability to lead discussions towards tangible outcomes.

You will work with a range of stakeholders and advocates, particularly farmers, foresters, other land managers, and their representatives, environmental NGOs, statutory bodies and businesses to build, shape and advocate to the Welsh Government and the Senedd, to change the way we manage land to help save nature in Wales.

Key deliverables include:

• Developing policy positions in relation to:
  • Future agriculture and sustainable land management in Wales, including influencing the design and delivery of Wales’ new Sustainable Farming Scheme.
  • Land use/management’s response to climate change including peatland restoration and the use of nature-based solutions.
  • Fresh water, in particular the impact of land use/management on water quality.
• Working with colleagues across the RSPB, and where appropriate, with other NGOs, to ensure key messages and policy positions are aligned.

• Excellent understanding of agriculture and related land use, nature and climate policy and policy drivers in a European, UK and specifically Wales context.
• Ability to write reports, consultation responses and concise policy briefings to support advocacy efforts.
• Excellent communication, writing and negotiation skills.
• Ability to develop policy positions and to communicate effectively to a range of audiences, including politicians, farmers and other land managers and the public.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences in a concise and clear way
• Ability to work as part of a team to deliver a project and achieve shared objectives and outcomes.
• Experience of working with others to develop and deliver a shared vision or set of proposals

Additional Information:

• This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
• The post holder will be working within the RSPB Cymru Policy and Advocacy Team.
• This position will be home based, within Wales (or close to for commuting) e.g. Bristol, Chester, Hereford, Shrewsbury etc.
• The role requires regular travel within Wales for site/farm visits, policy events and advocacy, and Team meetings.

As WVUK’s Grant Proposal & Contract Bid Lead, you'll be at the helm of a rewarding opportunity, helping to steer the submission process to fulfill WVUK’s Institutional Funding income requirements. Here's a glimpse into the key responsibilities:

1. Mastermind Coordination: Lead, manage, and orchestrate the submission process, collaborating with multiple stakeholders to craft compelling grant proposals. You'll craft a meticulous plan, ensure timely delivery of inputs, and hold everyone accountable for their contributions.
2. Relationship Maestro: Dive into a world of relationship building! You'll nurture and manage connections crucial for submission success, liaising with stakeholders from National Offices, consortium partners, and WVUK's specialized teams. Your expertise will position WV as an esteemed grant contender, fostering early engagement with partners and streamlining processes seamlessly.
3. Champion of Quality: Your pursuit of excellence will drive the delivery of high-quality submissions, meeting win-rate targets and industry standards. You'll craft proposals that align with donor policies, contextual needs, and WV's strategic vision. Mitigating risks, ensuring compliance, and harnessing valuable lessons learned will be your forte.
4. Continuous Innovation: Your hunger for knowledge will fuel the continuous enhancement of WVUK's submissions. Engage with sector experts, tap into WVI networks, and stay abreast of evolving programming approaches. Essential Criteria

• Expertise in Multi-Sector Program Management: Demonstrated proficiency in assessing, designing, and managing projects across diverse sectors within complex settings. A track record of navigating the project cycle successfully and securing institutional funding from bilateral and multilateral donors.
• Exceptional Project Management Skills: Proven ability to excel in managing multifaceted tasks within challenging timelines. Prioritization prowess is key, consistently meeting deadlines amidst competing demands.
• Donor Relationship Management: Extensive experience cultivating and sustaining relations with institutional donors such as DFID/FCDO, EU/ECHO, and UN bodies. Adept at analysing funding requirements and adeptly navigating varied worldviews. Skilled in fostering, managing, and evolving relationships within consortium partnerships.
• Proactive Innovation and Process Improvement: A proactive and creative approach to refining existing processes and devising new strategies for enhanced efficiency and efficacy. Strong emphasis on knowledge management within a high-pressure team environment.
• Team Leadership and Financial Acumen: Proven track record in assembling and nurturing project teams. Proficiency in linking financial aspects with operational requirements to ensure seamless project execution.
