Alongside the “Welcome for All” Displaced people programme, this will allow us to build a strong community infrastructure to support individuals and communities across the county. Our work combines grassroots engagement, specialist support, and strategic influence to build a stronger, more connected, and inclusive Somerset.

This is a key strategic role in our organisation. You will lead and manage the Somerset Diverse Communities (SDC) team. Together with your team, you will listen to community needs, promote suitable responses and convene individuals and organisations to seek community-based solutions, supporting communities to thrive together.

As part of this role you will also be responsible for managing a varied programme of ESOL courses, groups and support in schools. In addition, you will manage the delivery of our support for Open Mental Health Alliance partners to provide programmes that integrate equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging into everything they do.

As Senior Manager, Advocacy and Creative Programme, you will have overall responsibility for the Advocacy and Creative Programme. Leading a diverse team of professionals, you will engage with policymakers, build partnerships with national and international entities, connect with storytellers and artists from around the world and play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and overseeing events and engagements that will take you and your work to the global stage.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Strategic planning: Developing programme work plans for the advocacy and creative programme around the Foundation’s key thematic areas – climate justice, health justice and freedom of expression – and ensuring that our advocacy and creative work is intertwined.
• Project management: Overseeing advocacy and creative initiatives, including planning, budgeting, execution, and learning.
• Stakeholder engagement: Building and maintaining effective working relationships with civil society leaders, senior government officials, diplomats, storytellers and creative practitioners, and other relevant partners.
• Convening civil society: Designing, convening, and nurturing spaces and platforms – both online and in-person – for civil society and artists to amplify their voice and work, discuss, debate and make recommendations for change.
• Cross-programme collaboration: Collaborate with the wider-Foundation, particularly in harmonising our advocacy and creative work with the Foundation’s expanded programme of grants to Commonwealth civil society.
• Event management: Designing and leading impactful platforms and events where civil society can come together and influence policymakers.
• Team leadership: Managing a team of diverse, dedicated professionals, providing guidance and coaching, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Monitoring and evaluation: Working with the wider team to track performance against our progress markers and collect evidence so that we can tell our story of change.
• Reporting: Preparing reports for our board of governors and communicating programme progress and impact to our stakeholders.
• Representing the Foundation: Attending and participating in meetings and events nationally and internationally.

We seek an individual with strong knowledge of international development and diplomacy, extensive experience in programme leadership and event management, and a demonstrated capacity to lead a high-performing team. An understanding of the power of art and creative expression is essential, preferably with experience of how the arts can bring about social change. Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills are essential, along with a highly practical, solutions-based mindset. Appropriate tertiary qualifications or additional experience in lieu of such qualifications are required.

Spark Inside runs coaching programmes in prisons across London and the South East, to encourage rehabilitation and reduce reoffending. 

We are one of the first organisations to take life coaching to people living and working in prison and to use systems coaching to bring together staff and prisoners in UK prisons. Our expert coaches are qualified and trained professionals. In addition to developing and delivering innovative coaching programmes, we are also committed to working with parliamentarians and government officials to influence criminal justice policy, and shift the perception of people in prison, platforming their voices and highlighting their unlocked potential.

To achieve our ambitious strategy, Spark Inside is seeking a Communications Manager to help raise the charity’s public profile, build influence with policymakers, attract funders and commissioners, and ensure the lived experience of young people in the justice system shapes our messaging, campaigns and strategy.

You will work with the Head of Communications and Advocacy to deliver a programme of compelling external communications activities through digital, print, press and events in order to increase Spark Inside’s visibility and ensure our key messages are wide-reaching and impactful.

You will report to the Head of Communications & Advocacy and work closely alongside our Participation and Engagement Manager and Policy Lead, with line management responsibility for a part-time Communications Officer. You will also work with a range of external freelancers on design, film and print. You will build and maintain good relationships with colleagues across the whole Spark Inside team, offering support and advice as well as drawing on their expertise and insights to make our communications impactful and engaging.

While target-driven, you will have a supportive style and work in a highly collaborative way with colleagues across the organisation.

What the job involves

This is a unique chance to play a pivotal role in driving impactful external communication strategies that support High Value, Philanthropy and Partnerships teams. As a key player in the Strategic Communications, Campaigns and Brand team, you’ll enable the integration of high value fundraising activities into wider organisational communications, inspiring action to fund life-saving initiatives that help men navigate prostate cancer.

Supporting the Head of Strategic Communications, Campaigns and Brand and our senior Business Partner in embedding and developing our business partnering model. A major part of the role will be enabling the integration of High Value Fundraising activity into the wider communications plan to enhance results from our communications.

You’ll work closely with our Philanthropy, Corporate Partnerships and Appeal teams to help plan and deliver inspiring communications that support our fundraising strategy. From pitching proposals and event promotion to major appeal campaigns, you’ll help build strong relationships with major donors and partners. You’ll also make sure high value fundraising activity is joined up with our wider communications and campaigns to grow fundraising revenue, support our community and improve outcomes for all men affected by and at risk of prostate cancer.

Please note this role is known internally as Communications Business Partner (High Value Fundraising).

Are you passionate about international development and ensuring marginalised communities are able to access global health services? Today, one person every two minutes is diagnosed with leprosy. It’s a disease of poverty, striking the most vulnerable. Left untreated, it causes permanent disability. Stigma means that people affected by this disease are often rejected by those closest to them and excluded from basic services. 

Within our dynamic programmes team, you’ll be working alongside supportive colleagues who are passionate about ending leprosy and transforming lives. We have a culture of learning and growing together and will provide training in best practice, ensuring excellence in all we do. You will have at least three years’ work experience in an international development programming role or similar setting (ideally in the global South), with a degree in a relevant discipline. You will have monitoring, evaluation and research skills, with the capacity to work on your own initiative and will be an excellent cross-cultural communicator. We are particularly interested to hear from people with expertise in disability services, public health, research, quality assurance, or social enterprise development. However, those with experience in community development and working in fragile states would also be most welcome to apply.

You will be responsible for the development of UK-funded programmes, supporting the capacity development of overseas partners and managing income streams from large donors. In addition, you will champion our work on the global stage and engage in national and global advocacy on Neglected Tropical Diseases (including leprosy), global health and disability issues. This will require travel overseas for approximately eight weeks per year.

Pause works to improve the lives of women who have had more than one child removed from their care, and the services and systems that affect them.

As Communications and Policy Officer, your role will be to raise awareness and increase understanding of Pause and the experiences of the women we work with in order to achieve positive change at both a national and local level.

This is a new role, sitting within the Partnerships and Engagement team, although you will work with colleagues across the whole organisation.

You will work with the team to influence change by delivering creative communications activity and maintaining excellent working relationships with key stakeholders. This will involve working closely with our Impact and Influencing Lead as well as our colleagues in practice, participation and engagement, so that you can learn from those with lived experience and ensure their voices are at the forefront.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with the ability to deliver creative communications to influence change. You also should have a real desire to create positive change in the services and systems that affect the lives of women who have had children removed from their care.

The postholder will be a key part of growing the Hub’s  Advice and Advocacy/ Pastoral / Wrap-around services, working as a team with our partners, providing support to guests and volunteers.

• Working with a Caseload of Guests on a 1-1 and group basis and providing support via multiple channels, including Telephone, Email, In Person, virtually, and other project locations, develop action/support plans

Person Specification

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the promotion of Bikeability, the Government’s national cycle training programme, as a key member of the management team.

The Head of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the creation, development and delivery of marketing and communications activity with both internal and external audiences, including the Bikeability industry, schools, parents, the general public, media, and key stakeholders.

You will head up a team of talented communication experts, as part of the Strategy team, ensuring the delivery of all communications activity, including marketing campaigns, social media, press relations, industry engagement, and communications support to our public affairs strategy.

You will have excellent experience of delivering outstanding marketing and communications campaigns to increase brand awareness and drive service demand. You will have a collaborative approach and enjoy working as part of a team.  You will report to the Director of Strategy and be actively engaged in advising the executive team and trustees. 

Responsibilities:  

Lead the Promotions and Communications team to: 

• Develop and deliver The Bikeability Trust’s marketing, communications and media activities, including campaigns and project communications

• Manage relevant contracts with external agencies, including website management and graphic design

• Deliver the Bikeability social media programme to key audiences including parents, schools, internal Bikeability industry, and general public for wider awareness 

• Deliver communications support for Bikeability industry through a programme of regular communications 

• Work collaboratively with teams across the organisation to deliver effective project communication deliverables 

• Effectively manage team budget 

• Use media monitoring and brand tracking to evaluate impact and manage brand reputation

• Ensure evaluation and impact of communications work is collated and learning shared.

Enhance and improve strategic stakeholders’ engagement, including joint campaigns, cross-promotion and/or specific project activity to: 

• Ensure the Department for Transport and Active Travel England are fully engaged in any communications activity, working with them to amplify messaging 

• Work with cycling and active travel organisations on joint campaigns and promotions 

• Suport our Fundraising team to generate engagement and income from individual donors and corporate partners 

• Work with our agency partner to provide communications support to public affairs strategy 

• Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion are considered, and the Bikeability industry voice is at the centre, in all research projects and programmes. 

Provide communications leadership across The Bikeability Trust: 

• Champion and advocate the brand, supporting and motivating teams across the organisation to adopt our tone of voice and messaging 

• Track communications performance management and make recommendations for improvement 

• Deputise for the Director of Strategy in reporting to Board and attending Board meetings. 

Essential Skills and Experience 

• Minimum of 2 years leadership experience in communications, PR or marketing, including management of a small team.

• Experience of communications and marketing, including promotional campaigns 

• Experience of website management 

• Strong leadership and collaborative working style 

• Self-motivated with positive mindset 

• Excellent communication and analytical skills 

Desirable Skills and Experience: 

• Experience working in charity or non-profit sector 

• Experience working in cycling industry 

• Experience working with local and national government

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. Women in Prison’s South London Women’s Hubs provide support and advocacy to women at different points of the criminal justice system – whether they are at risk of offending, serving a community sentence, or in custody and leaving prison. The primary purpose of this role is to work with women in custody, including on remand, offering support to prepare for release and connect them with vital community support services prior to and on release from prison.

Key Responsibility Areas

1. Provide high-quality, trauma-responsive advocacy one to one and group support in prison, to women on remand in HMP Bronzefield, HMP Downview and HMP Send
2. Development and maintenance of professional relations in prison and the community
3. Ensure clear, timely and effective communication and record keeping
4. Proactively seek to develop your personal and professional practice, and contribute to wider organisational development
5. Contribute to building a feminist leadership culture and positive working environment for Women in Prison

About the role

• This is a newly created role where you will have responsibility for driving an integrated approach to our audience influencing to deliver our strategic objectives, through collective oversight across our public affairs, stakeholder relations, communications and marketing work.
• The post holder will report to the Director of Policy and External Affairs and work closely with the CEO, wider Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Deputy Director of Strategic Development to enable purposeful reputational growth, enhanced brand recognition and the delivery of external impact.
