Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) is a rare, progressive neurological condition which affects around 3,500 people in the UK and Ireland. The MSA Trust is the only organisation specifically serving the needs of people living with MSA and those affected by it, such as friends and family.
We are recruiting another Social Welfare Specialist to join our existing Social Welfare service and to complement the support given by our MSA Health Care Specialist Team.
You will work with people affected by MSA to help them access the right support when they most need it.
With a background in advocacy/advice work, including health and social care service provision, you will have exceptional people skills. You will have experience of direct client work, including advocating for clients and supporting people to successfully obtain relevant benefits, care support and other health and welfare services. Current knowledge of social care, Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding and welfare rights, especially disability and carers benefits, is important.
You will need to be self-sufficient in IT and be able to ensure accurate monitoring of casework and impact. We are small team so close team working, whilst being able to work independently, is essential.

About the role:
We are looking for a Community Liaison to support and empower communities across the UK to be more stoma friendly and provide better support to those living with a stoma. We are a national charity and want to enable individuals, support groups, hospitals and other organisations to collaborate locally and your role will be to facilitate and encourage this.
You will be an ambassador for Colostomy UK, speaking on our behalf, promoting our support services, activities, and campaigns nationwide. Identifying and detecting opportunities for the development and growth of our charity will be an exciting part of this role, alongside ensuring we are reaching as many beneficiaries as possible that want or need our support.
This role is remote, with extensive UK wide travel. Most of your time will be out and about meeting people, so if you are a confident driver with access to your own car for business use, this would be an advantage. This role may involve overnight stays, early mornings, evenings and weekends so flexibility is a must. You will spend 1 or 2 days a month working at our Head Office, RG41.
You’ll need to have a naturally confident and amicable demeanour, with the ability to build rapport and long-lasting meaningful relationships with professionals across different industries and individuals within the community. You’ll have strong organisational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and manage a busy diary that takes you across the country. As an excellent communicator with strong ability to influence, you’ll be comfortable networking and delivering training to large groups of people. You’ll be resourceful, proactive and efficient, with a flexible community-oriented approach.
Core role responsibilities
· Develop strategies and activities to enable us to engage all demographics in the communities.
· Develop, maintain, and build key relationships with stoma care nurses, support groups and individuals in the stoma community.
· Support individuals to set up support groups in their area and act as a mentor to help them develop and grow the group, ensuring that we have a strong presence across the UK.
· Facilitate dialogue and community collaboration between local organisations; schools/ universities, businesses, charities and individuals.
· Work closely with event organisers and our Volunteers Manager to ensure we are represented at stoma open days, fundraising events and local events.
· Manage the delivery of our face-to-face and virtual active ostomates, and care workshop programmes.
· Develop, manage and deliver Stoma Awareness Training to an array of organisations looking to upskill their staff. This includes upskilling our volunteer team to be able to also deliver this training nationwide.
· Identify local fundraising opportunities and discuss potential opportunities with the Fundraising Manager.
· Support the Volunteer Manager to develop and deliver the volunteer and engagement strategy for mutual volunteer support, working closely with them regarding volunteer roles and their requirements.
· Work with the CEO and Marketing & Campaigns Manager to ensure representation at different meetings and forums across the UK.
· Write and present regular reports for team, management and board meetings.

2. Design, implement and evaluate successful digital marketing campaigns on full range of channels – LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook - ensuring they are engaging, accessible and consistent.
Website and E-Marketing
1. Refreshing content on website to greater support visitor journeys and enable collection of visitor data.
2. Improve and develop the user experience on the website, linking robustly to other channels.
3. Manage the delivery of e-marketing campaigns, ensuring Help & Care improve retention and outcomes.
Press and PR
1. Acting as Help & Care’s point of contact for all media inquiries, including preparing press releases, and cultivating Help & Care’s relationship with journalists.
2. Develop and nurture relationships with media, influencers and stakeholder partners.
Line Management
- Provide line management to Help & Care’s Marketing Assistant, ensuring high quality and encouraging support and guidance.
- Manage the workload of the Marketing Assistant, ensuring delegation of appropriate tasks.
General:
1. Act as key point of contact and expert advisor in all things marketing and external communications.
2. To develop an effective process for managing Help & Care print and digital requirements and requests from all teams, maintaining excellent customer service and ensuring consistency of branding at all times.

CONDITIONS
Carry out other such duties as may be required by the Leadership Team, Chief Executive and Trustee Management Board which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
The working week shall be 22.5 hours during standard office hours over 3 days (to be agreed with line manager.) The postholder may be required to work occasional evenings or weekends to attend events and meetings, for which time off in lieu will be granted.
The nature of the job will require the ability to travel. If the post-holder’s own car is used for travel, expenses will be paid as set by the Trustee Management Board.
There will be an assessment of competence to practice during induction and 6-month probation period.
The other conditions of service and current procedural agreements will be enclosed with the post-holders Contract of Employment.
The post holder will be required to have broadband to be able to work from home.

United for Global Mental Health was founded in January 2018. It exists to support and unite the global effort to promote good mental health. Through our campaigning, advocacy and financing work, we aim to create a world in which everyone, everywhere has someone to turn to in support of their mental health. Since 2018, we have worked with a variety of international and national partners to help us reach this goal.
The Initiative:
The WHO constitution, as well as several UN declarations on human rights guarantee the right of everyone to the highest attainable standard of mental health, but legislation and policy on mental health in many countries currently fall short of laying the foundations to achieve this, and human rights violations, as well as accessibility issues, are particularly prevalent due to the prioritisation of institutional care over primary and community-based care and the existence of discriminatory legislation, such as the laws that criminalise suicide. It is these areas that UnitedGMH is keen to address as part of its new three year strategy moving forward.

United for Global Mental Health is dedicated to creating a world that enables good mental health for all. We focus on what will make the most difference to global mental health, and we build whatever it takes to make that happen.
We unite: campaigners, practitioners, national organisations, businesses, people with lived experiences, funders, researchers, governments, and international bodies so that they can learn, collaborate and make greater progress together.

Poor mental health is a global crisis. Mental health conditions are increasing globally and depression alone is on track to be the leading disease burden by 2030. However, the world is not yet equipped to handle this growing crisis, especially in low- and middle-income countries where the majority of conditions occur. A team of global mental health, resource mobilisation, and advocacy experts have come together to develop the first global campaign for global mental health. Advocacy priorities for 2024 and beyond will include the integration of mental health into primary health care and the upskilling and development of the workforce for mental health.
The Role:
You have the opportunity to join this new initiative, working as part of a small NGO as it builds and implements its global strategy. You will work with the Policy, Advocacy and Financing Advisor and colleagues, to develop and implement policy and advocacy projects and coordinate support including; research, report writing, briefing, partnership building and management, campaigning and government relations work. We are seeking an experienced consultant to help us shape and implement our global advocacy program for dogs. At ICAM, we strongly believe that some Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cannot be achieved by 2030 without putting in place policies and programs for humane management of dog populations. As such, we are in the process of initiating an influencing strategy targeted at global health and urban development stakeholders to recognise Dog Population Management (DPM) as a contributor to sustainable development.
We have established a strategy and action plan and now need to drive forward the next external facing phase, including building relationships with influential stakeholders in the field of urban development. The next two years will focus on mainstreaming the important contribution of DPM in achieving SDG 3 (Health) and SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities). We are waiting to hear your proposal for developing and driving forward this advocacy strategy in collaboration with our international coalition of DPM experts.
Role Title: Advocacy Consultant

About ICAM: The International Companion Animal Management (ICAM) Coalition is membership organisation that supports the development and use of humane and effective companion animal population management worldwide. Our vision is of a world where companion animals and human populations live together harmoniously. We are a registered charity (CIO Association) with the Charity Commission of England and Wales.
The position: We are looking for an experienced advocate and communication professional to work with our Director, Board of Trustees and ICAM members to lead the development and coordination of our advocacy work to ensure influential global stakeholders understand DPM’s contribution towards achieving different SDGs. As an advocacy expert, the consultant will also be a first-class communicator and convener and with sound knowledge of UN and other international institutions particularly in relation to urban development. A seasoned tactician in advocacy, the consultant will help us in developing and implementing the advocacy strategy and plan. Familiarity with DPM would be beneficial but is not required; as an internationally recognised and respected organisation in the field of DPM, ICAM is able perfectly positioned to support an advocacy consultant with the necessary DPM expertise.
Essential skills:
- Experience in advocacy and/ or external affairs management at the international level
- Excellent communication and networking skills, including at the highest levels of decision-making Knowledge and experience of the urban development sector
Key accountabilities:
● To co-lead the implementation and monitoring of advocacy strategy and plan for mainstreaming DPM within SDGs – in particular, SDG 11 on developing resilient and safe urban communities for all.
● Use insight into the UN system to inform ICAM’s advocacy targets and actions.
● In consultation with the Director, initiate strategic relations with key identified stakeholders within the urban development community and introduce/engage the Director, trustees and ICAM members as and when required.
● Effective management of relationships with these stakeholders.
● In consultation with Director, identify key external events and opportunities critical for engaging and influencing target stakeholders; and where agreed, represent ICAM in these events.
● Propose and organize events and side events in identified important global events - either as ICAM or as part of collaborative effort with other institutions and NGOs.

The Climate Emergency Collaboration Group (CECG) is a regranting collaboration made up of some of the world's largest climate philanthropic funders. Purpose of role
The MEL Director will be responsible for leading CECG’s data-based monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes. They will oversee the development of our funder reports, support our programmatic staff in maximizing the impact and learning opportunities of our grantmaking, and will work with grantees and other partners in the field to help establish and implement best practices, with a focus on collaboration and capacity-building.

If you have experience of delivering a successful peer support service or volunteer programme this is a genuinely exciting opportunity to develop a new service for an established patient support charity. Based remotely, but able to travel frequently in and around to London, we are seeking a creative, organised and committed programme manager.
Kidney Care will be working with the London Kidney Network and peer support champions from London NHS Trusts to establish a London-wide kidney peer support service. The ambition is to develop the service to cover the UK.
This is all about connecting people who are living with kidney failure, and applications from people with personal experience of the condition as a patient or carer are encouraged.
This is a new service for Kidney Care UK and the programme manager will be instrumental in scoping and implementing processes and procedures to deliver a compassionate, safe and valued service. The role will also ensure that all volunteers giving their time to Kidney Care UK have a fulfilling experience and will support colleagues across the organisation to confidently engage and support their own volunteers.

Around 3.5 million people in the UK live with chronic kidney disease (CKD). 68,000 are treated for end-stage kidney failure, relying on dialysis or a transplant to keep them alive. Treatments are gruelling and relentless and impact the patients’ ability to work, maintain social interaction and live the life they choose.
For over 45 years, Kidney Care UK has been at the forefront of supporting people with kidney disease. From our early days when we campaigned to introduce donor cards in the UK, we have worked hard to support and represent the interests of everyone affected by kidney disease.
Promoting better outcomes for people living with kidney disease we actively seek applications from people who live with CKD or who have experience as a family member or health professional.
About the Peer Support Service
The Peer Support Service connects people affected by CKD with a volunteer who shares a similar lived experience. Alongside partners in the London Kidney Network, we will recruit, train and support volunteers to provide a friendly listening ear and share practical information to build confidence in decision making, explore options and make informed choices about a range of issues from treatment to travel. Patients, their families and caregivers will access the service to request a conversation with someone matched on a range of factors which could include treatment modality, location, age and life experience.
This is a new service that the Peer Support manager will establish and shape, working effectively with stakeholders to build a trusted service that patients and healthcare professionals want to engage with. This is very much a hands-on role covering all aspects of delivering the service; creating resources and processes; recruiting, training and stewarding volunteers; promotion, and building relationships with NHS renal units to attract service users; and of course, matching individuals to encourage patients to feel empowered to make choices and manage their condition with confidence.
