The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is seeking a Head of Communications to lead our high-performing communications team. The successful candidate will lead strategic, high-impact external communications across the organisation. They will work closely with our global team across 30 countries involved in research and analysis. They will bring talent, enthusiasm, knowledge and experience. This role currently manages a team of five and reports to the Executive Director. The communications team is tasked to ensure strategic and effective media, social media, and delivery of our digital platform to drive change.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic communications: Lead the strategic evolution of our global communications as a critical component of our strategies to make change happen. Drive impact by building strategic media and digital outreach that amplifies the work of ourselves and allies, and influences key audiences. Work across our global team to develop a shared understanding of grand strategy, key audiences, the fast-changing context, and how communications can drive positive change. With the management team, set the organisation’s communications strategy and ensure we have the right skills, knowledge, and connections to deliver it. Collaborate with regional and thematic leads to ensure our communications strategies help deliver the human rights impact our programmes seek with allies.
• Lead the communications team: Support a strong team, nurturing their skills to inspire effective and high-impact communications, with an emphasis on digital first. Ensure the work of the team is expertly planned and executed within budget and meets donor requirements. Deliver our performance management system throughout the year to ensure support, well-being, and accountability. Work with the Senior Management Team to manage strategic and operational opportunities and risks.
• Drive and execute innovative, advocacy-oriented communications: Work with senior management, regional and thematic teams to drive a dynamic approach to communications, alongside spotting proactive and reactive opportunities, building higher-level relationships with journalists and partners, and developing tactical approaches. Play an active role in executing impactful, advocacy-oriented communications strategies for key products and events.
• Digital action platform and technology: Work with the Web Content and Digital Officer to manage the development of the Resource Centre’s leading multi-functional digital platform, and our substantial data as compelling evidence. Develop an understanding of the organisation’s target audiences and ensure we deliver features that effectively support them to effectively organise and present their research data and promote human rights in business.
• Programme design and fundraising: Work with our development (fundraising) team and programme leads to ensure communications, and digital technology work is built into project design and budget, and that funders’ information needs are well-served.

Key competencies and attributes

Strategic communication: At least 5 years’ experience delivering top class communications and expert understanding of how strategic communications deliver change. Demonstrable experience in strategy design and execution. Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; strong grasp of the power of social media to make change happen; and a global perspective to communications.

People manager: At least 3 years’ experience in line management. Experience in nurturing and sustaining a high performing team that thrives in a diverse, and global context. Demonstrable success in supporting project teams to deploy communications strategically for impact.

Project manager: Track record of leading and/or implementing complex communications projects including planning, execution, and evaluation. Demonstratable success planning communications for a busy organisation working closely with allies.

Digital technology & data: Experience of design and delivery of website, digital tools, and data to make change happen. Experience of working with developers to manage and maintain a website.

Human rights, and economic justice expertise: Familiarity with social justice or human rights issues and a willingness to keep up to date. Experience communicating economic justice and human rights issues desirable.

Team player: Experience of, and commitment to, working in high-performing teams that are highly collaborative and focused on outcomes. Experience of working with colleagues remotely, and in multicultural and diverse working environments desirable.

Networking: Track record of developing strategic relationships to enhance communications and advocacy efforts, e.g. civil society partners, consultants, journalists, opinion-formers. Experience building relationships of trust and joint action with allied organisations is strongly desirable.

Languages: Must be fluent in English. Additionally, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, or Russian language skills would also be an asset (all languages of our digital action platform).

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. This will include a team of Housing Caseworkers who will carry out assessments and advocacy work with young people under 25 who are fleeing violence and exploitation, in order to move them on successfully into both emergency and long-term housing options. You should be passionate about working with this client group, able to manage a fast-moving caseload, and committed to working collaboratively with a team across multiple services.

Salary: £31,200 - £34,736

Hillside Clubhouse is recruiting for a mental health employment specialist to join our dynamic Camden team supporting people with mental health conditions to gain and retain employment.  The role is working within the nationally recognised IPS (Individual Placement and Support) model within an NHS secondary care mental health team based in the heart of Camden.

Who we are: 

Hillside Clubhouse is a co-produced mental health employment support charity working across Camden and Islington. We support people with mental health conditions into training, volunteering, and employment opportunities. People can access our services via our Clubhouse, where they can share their skills and expertise with others and support the running of the charity.  Alternatively, they can receive support out in the community from one of our employment specialists based within primary and secondary care.

The Role: 

The role is within our IPS Service and will be based within a Camden NHS secondary care team. As an IPS Employment Specialist, you’ll play an important role in supporting people with lived mental health experience on their recovery journey by supporting them back into paid employment. This is an opportunity to offer ongoing support, to motivate and provide people with hope, while developing the tools and skills required to recover, ultimately transforming their lives.

A variety of skills are needed in this post including but not limited to -  a strong ability to develop empathy and rapport with clients; a determined approach to seeking out job opportunities; a person centric-approach to working with people; strong communications skills to motivate clients; strong administrative capabilities and an attention to detail engage with prospective employers via business development and face-to-face meetings, and to be able to challenge some perceptions around mental health. 

The postholder will be directly employed by Hillside Clubhouse but work under an Honorary Contract from Camden and Islington Foundation Trust.  They will be managed directly by the IPS Operations Manager but work as team member within the clinical team. The role is dynamic and involves being integrated in a clinical team, working within the community, and we operate a flexible working policy where working from home is also permitted up to two days per week.

Overall aim: 

To enable people with mental health issues to gain and sustain competitive employment by working within the evidence based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.

Primary Duties: 

• Manage a caseload of up to twenty clients and work within and apply the 8 principles of IPS in all aspects of role. 
• To work with and enable clients to find work using a mix of conventional approaches and employer engagement. 
• To generate ongoing referrals from the clinical team and to manage those effectively. 
• To engage directly and collaboratively with the clinical team while maintaining the existing multi-disciplinary approach to assisting clients seeking work. 
• To report and meet regularly with clinical team service managers and the IPS Operations manager, and to participate in both casework and clinical supervision from IPS Operations and clinical team services managers. 
• To be an active member of both the clinical and Hillside teams 
• To be responsible for own management of administrative duties tied to both Hillside Clubhouse and clinical team and adhering to existing Hillside and NHS protocols. 
• Source job opportunities specific to client needs from a range of sources including those advertised via current and conventional means, as well as through contact with local and Pan London employers. 
• To build up a network of employers to secure available and future vacancies. 
• To maintain existing and seek out new relationships with a range of external agencies of use to the post. 
• To provide ongoing support to both client and employers (where appropriate) when starting work and until such time as the client makes the decision to end the support provided. 
• To work with clients to collaboratively manage job searching activities and engagement with the service. 
• To manage and meet all KPIs, statistics and documentation as required, including but not limited to: referrals, first meetings, job outcomes, job sustainments of 6, 13 and 26 weeks, and work retention. 
• To provide guidance on the impact and/or the potential change to benefits when clients start work.

The role is within a small team that has a focus on Employer Relationships, Job Finding programmes (including our Alumni Job Club and Jobseekers Plus) In Work support for adults in Employment and Employer Training.

In addition to this we manage Employment Autism Employment Autism 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. To lead on running our employability training and Alumni Job Club.

2. To develop workshop structures and learning materials for these in close collaboration with the Development Director and ensure that participant feedback from earlier programmes is incorporated.

3. To line manage Development Job Coaches as needed.

4. To manage and deliver job search sessions.

5. To lease with Employability Lead when participants are ready to move over in In Work Support team.

6. To advertise project opportunities to autistic people throughout London and manage project recruitment and onboarding.

7. To ensure processes are in-place for each project to:- assess each participant’s individual skills and gather baseline data; ensure job matches are appropriate to the individual’s needs and aspirations; and that targets set are relevant and promote new skills and learning; acquire and complete necessary risk assessments to ensure safety of clients, staff and partners.

8. To oversee the set up and settling in of jobseekers into work placements, when needed. Providing support and training to employers where required; providing personalised on the job training to participants and employers as required and develop strategies and advise on reasonable adjustments.

9. To coach, train and help manage new project staff to support jobseekers and put in place monitoring protocols.

10.  To ensure jobseekers are progressing towards their individual targets; understand protocols and interpret work culture correctly; understand the health & safety in the work environment and adopt appropriate workplace behaviour.

11.  To ensure good working relationships are maintained with all employers/ work experience placements and that feedback is regularly sort from all stakeholders to help improve our service delivery and future opportunities.

12.  As a key member of the Development Team to work closely with the Development Director to actively, engage with employers and external organisations to promote CareTrade and our job seekers and to pursue opportunities to work collaboratively.

13.  To attend events, to market CareTrade to autistic jobseekers and to liaise with Disability Employment Advisors at JobCentre Plus, Disability Services teams, Social Workers and others to promote and support employment opportunities as needed.

14.  To organise and promote social groups for jobseekers.

15.  To collect data and use data analysis to help produce reports, internally, for funders and partners.

16.   To help seek and apply for appropriate awards and grants when required.

17.  To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)  and First Aider and complete regular training working alongside the Development Director to ensure the safety of participants and staff.

18.  To complete relevant health and safety training and be a named fire marshal.

What the job involves 

We’re looking for an Income Processing Executive to join our Data Import Team. This role who will be vital in ensuring our regular giving income continues to grow and help to fund our research to stop prostate cancer killing men.

You’ll be responsible for the day to day running and upkeep of our regular giving customers’ details in our CRM, and for the preparation and submission of weekly payment files to our payment partner. This requires handling data effectively, promptly and above all accurately in line with our business priorities while ensuring best practice and compliance.  

You’ll proactively engage regularly with other teams ensuring that our supporters are given an excellent service, that meets the business objectives of Prostate Cancer UK. 

This role will take responsibility for checking that incoming data matches uploaded data, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and adjust gift data in our CRM, Raiser’s Edge, when required.

Assessment & Reconnection Worker - Rough Sleeping Prevention Service 

London,  Islington, Lambeth, Kensington and Chelsea

Are you interested in supporting people at immediate risk of rough sleeping and making a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless?

Our client's exciting pilot is a new approach to preventing rough sleeping, through the provision of accommodation with onsite specialist move-on support to those who are at immediate risk of sleeping rough. The service will provide a route and support for single homeless clients who are presenting to the Local Authority Housing Options or day centres and at imminent risk of rough sleeping, but not yet rough sleeping.

Where their homelessness cannot be prevented by the council and they are at imminent risk of sleeping rough, a referral can be made into the Rough Sleeping Prevention service.

The service will be based across three London locations in Islington, Lambeth and Kensington and Chelsea and staff will be expected work across all three sites.

• 7 day rolling rota including early, mid and late shifts.
• (K&C): medium – high support accommodation.
•  (Lambeth): medium support accommodation.
•  (Islington): Assessment hub space for up to 15 clients. Site will operate 24/7.

Each site will have staff delivering casework and support, providing each person with a comprehensive assessment of their needs and circumstances, and intensive specialist support to secure move on.

The service will work in partnership with the local authority to secure onward move-on options e.g. access the council PRS scheme, advocating for access to supported housing.

As an Assessment and Reconnection Worker, you will: 

• Be part of a busy team environment working closely with those new to, or at risk of rough sleeping. 

• Provide a personalised case management service to clients, turning assessment recommendations into practical action plans which fully involves the client.

• Build and maintain effective relationships to support clients throughout their recovery. 

About you

These roles will suit people with experience of working at pace in a public facing environment with the ability to adapt to new situations; as well as:

• An understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerable people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work with others whilst managing your own time.

• The ability to manage complex behaviours and to deal with people who may be in a difficult personal or emotional situation. 

• Above all we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who have a genuine desire to support people to rebuild their lives in these key roles; many of their managers began their careers as an Assessment and Reconnection Worker.

We need someone like you to join the team at our Hammersmith & Fulham Employment Service. We support people living with mental health problems to develop a sense of independence, purpose and fulfilment; to develop their social networks and gain the skills they need to return to work or training where this is their goal. But we need your help. Your challenge? We help individuals with mental health problems to find paid employment, or unpaid voluntary work, plus we assist employers and employees to successfully resolve mental health problems in the workplace.

You will support the delivery of our Employment Service which will see you focus on motivating, supporting and providing person-centred advice and guidance to people receiving support to enable them to move into suitable and sustainable work.

As well as a good understanding of people with mental health problems, you have experience of networking/liaising with local employers and the initiative to develop and promote a service. Excellent motivational, presentation and listening skills are essential too, as is a willingness to travel in the local area and occasionally work outside of office hours. Customer focused, well organised and collaborative in approach, you are a great administrator and pride yourself on your word processing skills and ability to keep accurate computer records/use a database. A flexible approach to working to ensure effective service delivery is essential.

This is a full-time role requiring the post holder to work 37.5 hours per week.

Richmond Fellowship is part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence. The 5Rights Foundation is looking for a Research Officer to join our small and high impact team in fighting for a digital world that supports children and young people to flourish. ​

At 5Rights, we work with governments, policy-makers, technologists, and NGOs all over the world to advocate for one simple principle: the enormous potential of digital technology will only be realised when it is designed with children and young people in mind. ​

We are looking for someone organised, meticulous, creative and critical-minded to conduct ongoing practical research into the tech children are using, ensure our policy team understand how it works and impacts children, and gather the evidence to drive change.​

Experience of providing research support in a policy environment and knowledge of technology policy, privacy, children’s rights or a related field would be desirable. Additional language skills such as French or Spanish is an advantage. We are offering remote working (with part-time co-working space access in London or Brussels) with employee contracts in the UK or Belgium; salary ranges from £22,400 – 24,900 or EUR 31,600 – 35,100 (for Belgium) depending on experience. ​

Key responsibilities ​

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will:​​

• Be the expert in the room! Make sure 5Rights knows what it needs to know, and be confident in holding us and those in our network to the evidence.​

• Conduct thorough and organised research, including rapid evidence assessments, report summaries, and deep-dives into emerging technologies.​

• Conduct consultation and exchange sessions with young people from around the world as part of our Youth Engagement Programme, learning about their experience and helping them understand how tech works.​

• Liaise with technologists and experts around the world, exchanging knowledge and staying up to date on the latest developments, research and emerging issues.​

• Gather evidence for and support compliance actions.​

• Maintain tracking tools and a well-organised evidence repository.​

• Help coordinate research projects and evidence-gathering programmes.​

• Draft ad hoc briefings for senior staff on relevant developments, or ahead of meetings and conferences.​

• Contribute to 5Rights reports, positions, communications and fundraising materials.​

• Represent 5Rights as an expert at meetings and events.​

• Provide support to the policy, tech accountability and innovation work of 5Rights more broadly as needed.​

Person specification​

You’ll be a confident and skilled researcher, a clear, fresh thinker, and an excellent writer. High attention to detail, an eye for nuance, and the ability to digest complex information quickly and communicate it coherently are all musts. A background in technology issues or children’s rights is preferable, but not essential. Most of all, we’re looking for someone who’s thorough, proactive, super smart, and committed to our mission. ​

• Salary: £22,400 – 24,900 for UK-based candidate, with flexibility depending on experience;  EUR 31,600 – 35,100 for a Belgium-based candidate.​
