The 5Rights Foundation is looking for a Research Officer to join our small and high impact team in fighting for a digital world that supports children and young people to flourish.
At 5Rights, we work with governments, policy-makers, technologists, and NGOs all over the world to advocate for one simple principle: the enormous potential of digital technology will only be realised when it is designed with children and young people in mind.

We are looking for someone organised, meticulous, creative and critical-minded to conduct ongoing practical research into the tech children are using, ensure our policy team understand how it works and impacts children, and gather the evidence to drive change.
Experience of providing research support in a policy environment and knowledge of technology policy, privacy, children’s rights or a related field would be desirable. Additional language skills such as French or Spanish is an advantage. Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will:

Be the expert in the room! Make sure 5Rights knows what it needs to know, and be confident in holding us and those in our network to the evidence.

Conduct consultation and exchange sessions with young people from around the world as part of our Youth Engagement Programme, learning about their experience and helping them understand how tech works.

About this key role
As our Accommodation Adviser, you will complete an Initial Needs Assessment (INA) with each service user using a strength-based approached within agreed contractual timeframes, before assessing need and risk, alert to changes that could indicate change in risk or serious harm, including personal safety and safeguarding.
You will contribute to the design and delivery of an effective and solution-focused accommodation plan and advise and support service users to achieve successful outcomes utilising your specialist housing knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of accommodation and local service provision. About the role
- Job Title: Justice Programme Manager
- Location: Remote/Hybrid/Nottingham
- Salary: £40,000 p/a based on 35 hours per week
- Fixed term contract for two years
Headway is seeking a new Justice Programme Manager who will expand the current services to have a greater impact on police and probation services, improving knowledge and understanding and the support offenders with brain injuries receive.
We want someone who can both oversee the existing projects, such as our brain injury ID cards, whilst expanding the services in line with our new strategy, due to launch in the summer of 2024.
What will you do:
- Develop and implement a strategy for Headway’s work within the criminal justice system.
- Work with and develop key relationships across, police, probation services to improve knowledge and systems for offenders with brain injuries.
- Develop new justice related projects, including working with Headway’s fundraising team, to generate new income to expand the services.
- Work with the network of local Headway charities, to expand their work, within the justice system.
- Manage and deliver Headway’s justice related training initiatives.
- Oversee the successful delivery of Headway UK’s Brain Injury ID Card, including the line management of the project lead.
About you

- Have a passion for improving lives for brain injury survivors, within the criminal justice system.
- Have substantial experience of working within the criminal justice system.
- Be able to operate at both a strategic and an operational level, with experience of planning and delivering a range of projects and programmes.
- Have experience of generating income, from statutory and governmental bodies, such as HMPPS.
- Be an excellent communicator with experience of building partnerships within the criminal justice system.
