Beat’s advocacy programme supports people affected by eating disorders, and their carers, to access the treatment, information and support they are entitled to within national guidance. Too often, people face barriers to care, delays in accessing treatment, or decisions that do not appear to reflect relevant guidance. The advocacy programme aims to help people challenge these barriers, understand their rights and options, and feel more confident to advocate for themselves or those they care for.

The Advocacy Coordinator will play an important role in delivering and developing this work. This will include providing direct advocacy support, working closely with Beat’s Helpline and volunteer teams, supporting self-advocacy through resources and letter writing tools, and helping to identify wider themes or systemic issues that may be affecting access to care. The postholder will need to combine empathy and strong communication skills with attention to detail, confidence in working with guidance and processes, and the ability to challenge decisions constructively where needed. This is a varied role that requires sensitivity, tenacity and a strong commitment to ensuring that people affected by eating disorders are listened to, taken seriously and able to access the care they need.

Role description
Malaria No More UK is looking to appoint a highly motivated Senior Advocacy Officer to join our team and help implement our advocacy strategies. Working with both our UK and global advocacy, you will cultivate a new generation of malaria champions and push malaria up the political agenda. This role will work on increasing our visibility and the resonance of our case with key stakeholders, including decision makers in the UK and around the world. Securing increased support will be vital to global efforts to accelerate progress towards ending malaria for good within a generation. We are looking for a confident communicator with strong project management skills and a good understanding of political advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Providing project management support for a range of projects relating to our UK and global advocacy, including acting as project lead on agreed projects.
• Strategic stakeholder mapping, including building and maintaining relationships with UK parliamentarians and keeping contact records in our database updated on a regular basis. 
• Lead the delivery of high-quality events for policy and political audiences, including at the UK party conferences, and international meetings.
• Daily monitoring of the global malaria landscape and UK parliamentary activities and keeping the team informed of relevant developments and engagement opportunities.
• Drafting of political briefings on key policy areas within malaria and global health.
• Providing administrative support relating to our UK and global advocacy, including the coordination of stakeholder mailings, updating our contact management system (Salesforce), scheduling and attending meetings, and taking minutes.
• Managing relationships with scientists working on malaria and providing them with advocacy insight through our UK Malaria Technical Expert Collective.
• Identifying opportunities to engage political decision-makers and new malaria champions in the UK.   

Person specification

Essential

• Strong commitment to the mission and values of MNMUK
• Demonstrated experience working in a parliamentary, advocacy or campaigning role.
• A degree, or equivalent experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships confidently and independently.

•  Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, manage workload independently and work to tight deadlines.

Role overview: 

This is a new and developing service focused on increasing accessibility to stalking support for underrepresented and marginalised communities across London.  The postholder will play a key role in designing, embedding, and delivering this community-based model, working closely with community groups, partners, and volunteers whilst holding a small caseload leading to building trusted pathways into service for communities that may face barriers to accessing traditional support. 

The role will oversee two key initiatives: 

1. Community First Responders:  Trained volunteers with lived and/or professional experience (including LGBTQ+ communities, racially minoritised groups, victims with disabilities, neurodivergent individuals, and those with other accessibility needs) who provide face-to-face stalking support and awareness across London. 

2. Community Champions: Staff/volunteers within third-party organisations within the London ecosystem of service providers who are trained to provide first-responder level support within their own communities. 

The role builds and manages networks of community champions and first responders while holding a reduced advocacy caseload.

This is a blended role combining responsibilities across the National Stalking Helpline (0.6 FTE) and the National Advocacy Service (0.4 FTE).
The postholder will deliver high-quality, trauma-informed support across the full victim journey from first contact and immediate risk assessment through to ongoing advocacy and multi-agency casework.
The role ensures a seamless service for victims, supporting individuals at all risk levels through:

• Immediate advice, triage, and safety planning via the helpline
• Ongoing advocacy, case management, and support navigating the criminal justice system

This model strengthens continuity of care and ensures consistent, victim-centred support across services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: National Advocate (.4) National Helpline (.6) 

• Provide advice, guidance, emotional support, safety planning, and risk assessment to individuals contacting the National Stalking Helpline. 

• Answer incoming calls to the helpline and manage contacts in line with service standards. 

• Helpline duties day/week/FTE with flexibility to meet demand/need 

• Provide tailored advocacy support, advice, and guidance to victims living including emotional support, risk assessment, and safety planning. 

• Using the SASH, conduct follow on risk assessments to inform ongoing safety planning 

• Develop and maintain individualised advocacy plans for each client. 

• Support clients to navigate the Criminal Justice System (CJS), civil and family courts. 

• Liaise with other professionals and agencies, such as housing, health, social care, and law enforcement, to ensure coordinated support. 

• Proactively research and build strong working relationships with support services and share best practice 

• Advise and advocate on behalf of victims when their rights under the Victims’ Code are not being met. 

• Undertake ISA accreditation (training provided if not already achieved). 

• Apply cyberstalking knowledge and seek cyber technical support on complex cases.

• Ensure prompt case closure when advocacy needs end, victims withdraw consent, or contact attempts fail.

The Bexley SASS team provides advocacy and support to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse living in Bexley. An exciting opportunity has arisen in this busy team for an IDVA (Adult Social Care). We provide a package of support covering crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning.

About the Role

As an IDVA (Adult Social Care), you provide specialist, proactive support to survivors of domestic abuse who are at high risk of harm. You will work with individuals who have current or previous involvement with Adult Social Care, including those facing additional barriers to support. You will manage a caseload of around 30 clients, working closely with partner agencies including Police, Children's Social Care, and MARAC.

Working alongside Adult Social Care’s frontline triage team, you will offer guidance where domestic abuse is identified and deliver training to staff to build awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact.

About You

You have a thorough understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on women and children, alongside experience of providing emotional and practical support and strong casework management skills.

You have the skills to provide effective crisis intervention, carry out risk assessments, safety planning, and individual support planning, with demonstrable experience in an IDVA or similar role with this client group.

High organised, self-motivated, and passionate about ending gender-based violence. You bring a “can-do” approach and demonstrable commitment to Solace’s feminist approach to supporting women and their children to be safer.
