PURPOSE OF THE POST

To provide administrative support and to ensure the efficient day to day running of the office. This post has a strong emphasis on client support and engagement.

GENERAL

MAIN TASKS AND DUTIES:

About the Role

The Lead Lawyer - Africa Death Penalty Team is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. 

Our casework includes work on appeals to the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal in the context of historic denials of a right to appeal and related contextual challenges; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing, as well as supporting on individual strategic resentencing cases; and long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter. Length and Salary

This is a full-time role, on a one-year fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend, subject to funding. The annual salary is £52,088 per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work two days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. You will also be available outside of office hours in the event of an emergency, for example case developments that require urgent action. This is a role that may require travel and work outside of core office hours from time to time.

The post holder will work alongside our talented Tech and Economic Abuse leads, supporting survivors to increase their safety and regain economic independence, empowering them to move forward with their lives free from abuse.

The postholder will be responsible for managing a caseload of survivors, providing holistic support to assess and increase their safety, and connecting them with local domestic abuse support services where appropriate. The postholder will advise on securing online accounts and devices, ensure survivors have access to safe bank accounts, advocate with banks and creditors to tackle fraud and coerced debt, and empower survivors to regain control of their finances. We are looking for someone with experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse, with a good understanding of tech safety and how economic abuse can impact survivors, who is passionate about increasing survivor safety, and reaching the best outcomes for everyone they support.

The Grants Officer will support the Senior Manager to develop and implement monitoring and reporting
processes across the Foundation’s grant-giving activities. To be successful in the role, you must have
excellent knowledge of results-based monitoring and reporting, demonstrate strong organisational and
administrative skills, and ideally have experience working with colleagues from different cultural
backgrounds.

The initial focus of the role will be monitoring and reporting in relation to the implementation of a Big 6
EU funded programme, the Youth Empowerment Fund (YEF). This programme focuses on supporting
youth-led initiatives, giving young people the means to be effective agents of change. The YEF is global
in its reach but will focus on supporting local solutions and grassroots initiatives that young people
develop on the ground. The Officer will play a key role in supporting the Senior Manager to maintain and
grow Big 6 advocacy and partnerships for the short and long-term. This role will also work closely with
colleagues from the Operations and Finance team to ensure accurate information is delivered to key
stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities 

Youth Empowerment Fund (60%):

• Support the monitoring and reporting of the EU funded YEF programme. Including coordinationwithin the IAF and with the Big 6 designated leads.
• Communicating with and activating networks of national organizations to participate in the YEF,including sharing opportunities to take part in Big 6 advocacy activities and applying for youthled solutions open-call Local Solutions grants.
• Issuing of grants to successful national organizations and monitoring and evaluation, including regular reporting on outcomes and impact of national projects to the YEF project team.
• Sharing success stories from the YEF to support the Big 6 communication, storytelling and creative reporting efforts.

Other Grant based support (40%):

• Oversee grant-giving financial processes, creating and issuing of grant payments.

As the Operations Assistant you will be supporting the Operations Manager in delivering and maintaining effective operational function at the charity. Including but not exclusively, Health & Safety, Premises, Facilities, Vehicle Management, and IT Services.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Support

· Act as the first point of contact for premises, facilities, IT and Estates issues across all Weston Park Cancer Charity locations.

· Assist the Operations Manager in maintaining a secure and organised premises and facilities, which ensure colleagues, volunteers and visitors are safe and experience a welcoming environment.

· Support the Operations Manager in the successful delivery of the Annual Operations plan.

· Provide administrative support to the Operations Manager and take minutes in operations-related working groups.

· Support with updating operational policies and procedures.

· Act as a Charity Data Protection Officer (DPO), alongside the Operations Manager - following relevant training, to promote a strong GDPR culture.

· Assist in the coordination of charity vehicle fleet maintenance schedules and provide breakdown response support.

· Assist in the control and coordination of the use of charity space and assets, including liaising with contractors and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (STH) on relevant matters as required.

Health & Safety

Environmental Advocate

About the Role

Our Lancashire Infant Feeding Support project is commissioned by Lancashire Council, to offer infant feeding support across the region in both community and hospital settings. The support is delivered by staff and volunteer peer supporters.

We are seeking a capable Peer Supporter who will support parents at Royal Preston Hospital and on occasion East Lancashire Hospital Trust or Ormskirk District General Hospital as well as community groups and home visits in Central and East Lancashire. This role will mainly be based at out in the community, with some homeworking. Expenses will be reimbursed to/from a base (Royal Preston Hospital).

You will be responsible for offering breastfeeding support for parents within Royal Preston Hospital and on occasion East Lancashire Hospital Trust and Ormskirk District General Hospital and the community.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:
 

• Providing breastfeeding support to families on the wards at the hospitals, in service user homes and community settings within Lancashire.
• Support in delivering inductions for volunteer peer supporters. 
• To report any concerns or additional support needs of women to the NCT management team and/or Infant Feeding Lead for referral onto partner agencies as appropriate.
• To attend regular supervision/support sessions. 
• Having a good working knowledge and understanding of the local demographics in the Lancashire area and ensuring all support is accessible and inclusive.
• Ensure that data collection and feedback is collected in a timely manner in an inclusive way.

You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. This is a large project and covers multiple locations so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently.

Being able to make decisions and respond appropriately to our staff, peer supporters and parents and other external stakeholders is essential, alongside good IT skills– including Outlook, Word and Excel – and you must have good attention to detail.
 
It is essential for this post that you undertake the training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter. This requires breastfeeding experience of at least 3 months. The training can be undertaken within your working hours.

The role is 17.5 hours per week which will be worked Monday Tuesday, Friday 09:00 – 15:00. This will be split across the two hospitals, in service user homes and at community settings across Lancashire, however there is also some home-based working required.

Citizens Advice Peterborough[CAP] is the leading provider of generalist advice services in Peterborough. We help approximately 5,000 people each year with free, confidential, and impartial advice on a wide range of issues.

A team of four income maximisation advisers are at the frontline of our new service.  You will use your skills and experience to understand the clients’ situation and capability through sensitive interviewing skills, then providing informed information and advice on next steps to help resolve the presenting issues.

Youth Involvement Lead

The role is based at the Trust’s office in West Berkshire with a minimum of one day per week (typically Mondays) expected to be worked at our Newbury office. This is a key role leading on the delivery of Youth Involvement work within a leading mental health charity focused on supporting the systems around children and young people. We are looking for a compassionate, flexible and focused professional with excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working with young people with lived experience of mental health challenges, as well as a strong track record of delivering on discrete projects. 

The Youth Involvement Lead is focused on ensuring that youth voice and lived experience is integrated into work across the Charlie Waller Trust (CWT). The exact focus of the work will shift over time in line with the interests of each cohort and needs of CWT, but is likely to include: supporting the Youth Ambassadors to engage externally, via speaking opportunities; contributing to the Charitable Activity team’s work; creating communications content with Communications team support; and supporting the CWT staff team to better understand lived experience perspectives so they can carry out their roles more effectively.  

The role would suit someone with a keen interest in ensuring this work is as impactful as possible, who is a ‘doer’ and a broker of relationships, with strong interpersonal skills to remotely support people with lived experience. Our ideal candidate will have experience of a similar role.

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership, oversight and curation to the FYT Leadership Team, and to lead the smooth running of the FYT Organisation which supports the wider FYT Movement. This will include coordinating the delivery of the strategic plan, leading fundraising, and working closely with the FYT Board to oversee the smooth running of the organisation.

Hours: 22.5 hrs per week
Salary: £24,116 per annum (£40,194 pro rata) + 9% pension
Holidays: 5 weeks plus bank holidays and 3 additional days at Christmas
Location: Working from home, with nationwide travel expected

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the FYT Movement – Engage with movement members

2. Lead the FYT staff team – supporting, supervising, enabling and encouraging and ensuring appropriate HR functions are carried out. 
3. Lead the fundraising strategy for the organisation, giving attention to securing grants, as well as donor fundraising . Report as necessary to funders.
4. Work with the Finance Officer to manage the budget and finances within the parameters agreed by the Board.
5. Facilitate the effective function of the Leadership Team, enabling the smooth and efficient carrying out of the strategic priorities.
6. Provide Line Management support and supervision to the other members of the Leadership Team.
7. Develop, implement and monitor FYT’s strategic plan in partnership with the FYT team and board
8. Engage in practical theological reflection on FYT’s mission and how it is expressed.
9. Attend and contribute as required to Board meetings, working closely with the Chair and Board to ensure that appropriate issues are raised, and that any agreed action is put into effect.
10. Be an advocate for marginalised young people, the issues they face, and youth workers and projects working with them (pursuing prophetic mischief, provocation, and taking up our unique space in the youth ministry community).
11. Make links with appropriate Christian, voluntary and statutory bodies and to represent FYT in appropriate forums and pursue opportunities for collaborative working.
12. Support the active promotion of the FYT training and resource offer.
13. Lead the monitoring and evaluation (impact assessment) of FYT’s work

Other functions:

1. Meet regularly with Line Manager for supervision.
2. Undertake administration and keep necessary work records.
3. Comply with all FYT policies and procedures.
4. Work collaboratively with the FYT leadership team and Board to ensure that organisational policies are regularly reviewed.
5. Engage in CPD/lifelong learning.
6. Undertake any other tasks that may be requested, commensurate with the nature and level of the post and as may be required by the Board of Trustees.

Additional Information

• The Leadership Team is supported by a contract with Giraffe HR that assists in the day to day running of the organisation, primarily managing the finances of the organisation.
• Engagement in ongoing, regular youth work with marginalised young people is not a requirement of this post, but encouraged. FYT will be flexible where possible in order to facilitate this.
