Research Activities Manager (maternity cover)

Fixed term contract (until August 2022)

Salary: FTE: £31,000 - £34,000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits

Full time – 37.5 hours a week 

London N1

World Cancer Research Fund International is a leading authority on cancer prevention research related to diet, weight and physical activity. World Cancer Research Fund International is a not-for-profit organisation that:

  • Commissions and analyses worldwide scientific research
  • Influences public health policy at the highest level, and acts as trusted advisor to governments and other official bodies from around the world
  • Leads & unifies a network of cancer prevention charities based in the USA, United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Hong Kong. 

We are looking to recruit a Research Activities Manager, responsible for the management of the WCRF International Conference and the Academy Programmes. It also contributes to the Research Grant Programme and other key science activities within the Science and Research Department. 

The postholder will work with the Head of Research Funding on the management of the WCRF International Grant Programme (focusing on both the pre and post award process) and will contribute significantly to the monitoring and science communications of our funded research as well as to the future direction of our research programme. 

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of working in research administration/management either in the university sector or a research funding organisation
  • Some experience of writing, including production of minutes for scientific meetings/conferences and scientific summaries
  • Someone with attention to detail with strong planning, organisational and communication skills, able to work to tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently as well as being a reliable and conscientious team member
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Educated to MSc level in a nutrition, public health or biological sciences related discipline
