Work experience at Unifrog

In 2022, we launched the Unifrog Placements tool with just a few schools and colleges, and it’s now being used by over 45% of UK schools and has facilitated over 350,000 placements since its launch. The Placements tool makes it quick and easy for schools and colleges to administer work experience, virtual work experience (VWEX), work shadowing, and internships, all in one central place on the Unifrog platform. The more schools that sign up to and get started with Placements, the closer we can get to levelling the playing field for all students.

What you’ll do

As the Work Experience Lead, you will provide outstanding customer support for school and college partners using our Placements tool. You’ll be the first point of contact for any queries about the tool, resolving any issues partners, parents or employers have with the process. You’ll also be responsible for training individuals, tracking the engagement and impact of the Placements tool across our partner schools. You’ll be keeping Account Managers up to speed on this throughout the academic year.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage incoming queries about our Placements tool via phone call and email.

• Keep Salesforce records up to date after any interactions with partner schools and colleges.

• Continually suggest and streamline our Work Experience processes using feedback from our partners.

• Analyse engagement data, trends and notable issues on Placements usage and share this data with Account Managers and the wider UK management team.

Additional responsibilities:

• Proactively look for opportunities to continue improving our platform and support of Work Experience within schools and colleges. For example, reviewing survey responses to identify potential tweaks or process improvements. 

• Support the UK Partner Success Team during busy periods, e.g., uploading school data onto the platform and troubleshooting any issues partner schools and colleges are experiencing.

• Proactively work to foster a sense of community amongst our Unifrog partners and consider how we can promote the sharing and embedding of Unifrog best practice. 

Working together
 

You’ll work alongside the Partner Success Leads and the wider UK schools and colleges team. You’ll also have contact with our Data, Marketing, and Finance teams.

You’ll report to the Head of Partner Success.

Key details

• £34,890 per annum (Grade A).

• Full-time.

• Split your time between working remotely and at our office in Hoxton, London (a minimum of 2 days per week). Applicants must be commutable to London and can expense up to £12.50 per day for travel, up to 2 days per week.

• Working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9:00am to 4:30pm on Friday.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

The role involves reporting and analysis by examining different business areas, producing reports for budget holders and the executive team, and presenting conclusions to support decision-making. Responsibilities include analyzing business performance on a monthly basis for specific areas, meeting regularly with strategic budget holders to review spending, highlighting underperforming areas, and supporting executive budget holders in implementing improvements. Reports will be prepared that link both financial and non-financial information.

In terms of budgeting, the role requires working with executive budget holders to develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts, with a strong understanding of the key drivers behind budget bids and forecasts. It also involves analyzing budgets and forecasts by area, explaining variances between actual, budgeted, and forecasted results, and writing monthly management accounts commentary for allocated areas.

For wider finance tasks, the role includes working closely with the finance team to connect customers to finance processes, supporting the simplification and streamlining of finance procedures, and understanding the broader business impact of spend, income, assets, liabilities, and reserves. Taking ownership of problems and driving them through to resolution is also a key expectation.

Additionally, the role contributes to special projects such as new bids, systems implementation, and chart of accounts design.

Here's what the team will be looking for

You will be ACA, CIMA, ACCA qualified, or hold an equivalent qualification, with demonstrable post-qualification experience and continued professional development. You will be able to recognise the value in “data mined” information and inspire stakeholders to make effective use of it. You will also have strong knowledge of management information and integrated accounting systems, alongside expertise in budgeting and financial control techniques, with the ability to produce accurate monthly management accounts for defined business areas.

You will bring highly developed skills in financial system reporting, spreadsheet analysis, and database management, with the capability to link information from different sources to financial data. You will be committed to improving service delivery and able to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment with competing priorities. You will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong interdepartmental relationships and earn trust through a balance of assertiveness and diplomacy.

You will be able to analyse large volumes of data and draw clear, concise conclusions. You will have significant experience providing management information to clients or customers within tight deadlines, producing ad hoc reports with insightful analysis to support decision-making, and working with senior-level budget holders. You will also have experience in delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Finally, you will demonstrate a strong set of soft skills including presentation, relationship building, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution.

About the Role

The Group Volunteer Manager will report directly into the Deputy Director of People & Organisational Development.

About the Advisory Panel
The Advisory Panel is a meeting of the four Council’s committees (Companies, Education, Registration, and Standards) in plenary session. They are established by statute for the purpose of giving advice and assistance to Council (whether or not in response to a request from them) on:

• matters relating to business registrants other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be referred to the Investigation Committee, the Registration Appeals, Committee or the Fitness to Practise Committee; 

• matters relating to optical training, education, and assessment; 

• matters relating to registration, other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be considered by the Registration Appeals Committee; and 

• matters relating to the standards of conduct and performance expected of registrants or those seeking admission to the register. 

Time Commitment and Remuneration 

This role is part time with a commitment of approximately 2-3 days per year, including time spent preparing for meetings.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices in London or other suitable venues.

A daily fee of £319 will be paid. This is in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule.  This is taxable and subject to Class 1 National Insurance (NI) contributions. It is not pensionable.

Members can claim expenses for travel and subsistence costs incurred on Council business as set out in our expenses policy.

The team: 

The Engagement team plays a critical and visible role in the organisation. We lead strategic projects, put engagement into the heart of our campaigns and offer expert advice and analysis to teams across the organisation. We are a high-performing and friendly team that strives to experiment with new ideas and support each other in the process.

This role will work alongside other Marketing Officers who will provide peer support and report into the Marketing & Engagement Manager whom you will work closely with, while also supporting the work and objectives of the wider team. We are cross-organisational in scope so a large part of the role will also be collaborating with different teams such as our production hub, Content & Creative, Campaigns, and Individual & Major Giving teams amongst others.

Senior Research and Development Manager - Research and Evidence
Contract: Fixed term for 24 months (with potential to extend/make perm subject to funding)
Hours: Full Time 35 hours / 1.0 FTE (open to part-time 0.8 FTE)
Salary: £51,349 per annum or £55,512 per annum if based in London
Location: London Fields / Belfast, Northern Ireland / Newton Abbot, Devon / Sheffield / Homebased within the UK (with travel to the office when required)

About the Role

The Senior Research and Development Manager will play an important role in managing NCB’s research and evidence work, supporting our impact and growth and working across teams in a matrix environment. The post holder will be joining the research team at an exciting time, with significant growth in recent years, particularly in the area of evidence synthesis methodologies.

This role requires a strong background in managing and delivering evidence synthesis research projects, including systematic reviews, meta-analysis, qualitative synthesis, and mixed-methods approaches. It involves overseeing key research contracts, providing hands-on project management, ensuring methodological rigour, and delivering high-quality outputs.

The research team at NCB works on several influential projects using a range of research methods and spanning areas including youth justice, social care, early childhood development and education.
