About this role
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a strategic, passionate advocate to drive SPANA’s global policy influence and advocacy agenda. As Head of Advocacy, you will shape and implement our advocacy strategy, engage with national and international policy institutions, support global partners with advocacy tools and training, and ensure that working animal welfare is prioritised across global agendas.
You will be a high-profile ambassador for the charity, building relationships, driving coalitions and ensuring our policy work is informed, inclusive and impactful. You will also play a key role in strengthening our internal advocacy capacity, building and leading a team of advocacy focal points across key global partner programmes, as well as an Advocacy Officer based in the UK. You will embed advocacy across programmes and lead a culture of reflection and results-based influence.
Contract, location and salary
This is a full-time (34.5 hours per week), permanent role. This role is UK based, hybrid working with regular attendance (approximately 1-2 days per month, or more if preferred) in our London office. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK currently and for the duration of the contract.
The salary for this position is c.£55,000-£60,000 per annum, subject to skills and experience. SPANA is pleased to offer a range of benefits including a generous company pension scheme with 10% employer contribution if the employee contributes a minimum 5%, and health care cash plan.

JOB DESCRIPTION
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
We are looking for an exceptional fundraiser with significant experience in successfully fundraising from trusts and foundations as well as governments.
The Senior Officer – Statutory & Foundations will join a highly collaborative, supportive and ambitious Development Team and will play a key role in sustaining and growing income from trusts & foundations as well as governments. The ideal candidate will be able to work in close collaboration with Senior staff across the organisation to identify and strategize responses to grant opportunities turning complex issues into clear and persuasive proposals. The Senior Officer – Statutory & Foundations will also be responsible for initiating, developing and deepening relationships with a global roster of trusts and foundations in support of TRAFFIC’s strategic priorities, primarily focusing on six-, seven- and eight figure opportunities.
This is a diverse role with key responsibility for the delivery of TRAFFIC’s global fundraising strategy and income streams. Whilst proposal development and writing is central, the role regularly extends to leading, organising and coordinating effort both within TRAFFIC offices and with external partner organisations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Guides TRAFFIC thematic leads and Programme Offices, including Programme Office Directors, to transform project ideas into compelling funding concepts.
- Manages the development of funding proposals ; from project design, informed by strong logical framework rationale, to providing high quality written content, editorial and process guidance and other areas of technical support e.g. monitoring and evaluation.
- Initiates liaison with colleagues from finance, operations, risk management, research and data, and M&E as needed to ensure their input to proposal content and review.
- Drives efficiencies and improvements to TRAFFIC’s overall fundraising processes and systems at the institutional level (e.g. designs and maintains systems to manage current and past proposals, and maintains Raiser’s Edge database of donors), in collaboration with Development Teamcolleagues.
- Reviews funding calls and donor requirements & criteria to provide advice on direction of approach and content.
- Advises staff in the Global Office and regional programme offices to strategize responses to grant opportunities, to optimize return on effort and to ensure that funding is directed to priority intervention areas (as described in TRAFFIC’s annual workplans) and to priority funders (as identified in the fundraising strategy).
- Represents TRAFFIC in discussions with potential partners for joint bids, and provides support and advice to these external partners to strengthen bids.
- Represents TRAFFIC in donor meetings and briefing sessions.
- Designs and implements capacity building programmes for TRAFFIC on project design and proposal development, including introduction to project development within TRAFFIC, problem identification and articulation, stakeholder analysis, development of theories of change, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and processes, fundraising communication. Ensures this training is aligned to best practices in project planning across the conservation sector, and coordinated with Communications and Strategy, Programmes and Impact teams.
- Proactively researches, identifies and develop relationships with new prospects, who align to TRAFFIC priorities.
- Provides guidance on donor cultivation and engagement strategies.
- Leads on the development of generic fundraising material which can be multi-purposed for donor or wider publics.
- Advises teams across TRAFFIC as required to ensure the alignment of fundraising activities and program design to TRAFFIC strategic priorities, communications materials, and approaches (such as Evidence to Influence). Provides development input to Pipeline Group (indirectly) and Programme Forum.
REQUIREMENTS
- Project design and proposal writing experience, ideally across a range of international environmental NGOs, and a track record of success with securing at least six-figure grants from different donor sources, including European Commission, Governments, and Trusts and Foundations.
- Strategic, proactive and results focused with excellent organization and planning skills.
- Articulate with persuasive and engaging verbal communication skills and excellent written communication skills (English).
- Similar communication skills in French, Portuguese or Spanish desirable, but not required.
- Robust understanding of best practice for project design, including theory of change and log frames, and best practice approaches (e.g. Conservation Standards).
- Able to take a lead role with the packaging of a complex programme portfolio into language and visuals suitable for conveying TRAFFIC’s work to existing and potential supporters.
- Strong background in biodiversity conservation and/or sustainable development issues
- Project management experience desirable, especially in developing countries
- Strong networking, relationship building and diplomacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and in close collaboration with others working as part of a distributed, multi-cultural team globally, able to trouble shoot and maintain good relationships under pressure and across time zones.

The Scientific Communications and Content Assistant will support us to deliver our scientific communications strategy by helping to draft, design and publish engaging content for our print and digital platforms. This includes assisting with the creation of visual and written content that effectively convey complex scientific information to our diverse audiences.
The role will report to our Scientific Communications and Outreach Manager and work closely with the Public Affairs Lead and other internal teams to create engaging content for our audiences. What does The Animal Law Foundation do?
The Animal Law Foundation was registered with the Charity Commission in August 2022. It is primarily a legal research charity that looks into neglected areas of animal law and where appropriate will instruct lawyers to bring legal challenges to secure any systems in place to protect animals function as they should.
Groups like this exist in the environmental and the human rights space in the UK and in the animal protection space in other countries. There is a desperate need for such work to exist for animals in the UK.
The UK still has some of the best animal welfare laws in the world, yet the opportunity for vast change contained within these laws is rarely explored. Through exploring these opportunities the whole system for animals can be improved and set global examples.
It is of vital importance that laws that exist to protect animals are understood and applied. The Animal Law Foundation will work alongside stakeholders to ensure that this happens.

About The Role
The Programme Manager will form part of our European programme team, working closely with our functional leads to deliver impactful strategies that target emissions reductions from heavy emitting industries in the EU. This role will focus mainly on the issue of Chemicals Decarbonisation - where experience is preferable but not required - and take the lead on delivering EU-targeted activities and outputs. This role is initially set as a 12-month contract, with potential to extend, and will report into our Head of Policy and Research.

Battersea is entering an exciting phase of innovation and transformation as we embark on the first year of our new five-year strategy. With increased investment in income generation starting in 2025, we are expanding our team to drive the growth necessary to achieve our organisational goals. Our fundraising team bridges the journey of the animals in our care with the wider public, demonstrating how their contributions enable us to support every dog and cat. We now have several new roles within this team to further our mission.
This is a new role working within Battersea’s Income Generation department to develop and deliver the campaign plan for a £4-6million pound capital fundraising appeal.
One of the key pillars of Battersea’s current strategy is to ensure that we continue to provide expert care for all the dogs and cats that come through our gates. One of the ways in which we do this is by investing in our facilities to ensure that they continue to meet the changing needs of the animals we care for. This fundraising campaign will help to achieve that aim.
You will work with teams across Battersea to develop a comprehensive plan for the campaign and co-ordinate the work of multiple specialist teams to deliver the campaign on a day-to-day basis. You will also be responsible for developing a clear governance structure for the campaign, and ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed of progress. You will also oversee and track progress of a series of internal process improvements that support the running of the campaign.
Please note, this is not a direct fundraising position, but will support our fundraising teams in delivering ambitious financial targets for the appeal.

About the Role
As our Senior Legacy Marketing Manager, you’ll lead the strategic development and delivery of Compassion in World Farming’s legacy marketing programme across the UK and internationally. This is a vital role within our Global Fundraising team, offering the opportunity to help shape a sector leading legacy strategy, that inspires supporters to leave a lasting gift for farm animals and the planet.
As part of this exciting role, you’ll be responsible for all UK legacy marketing communications, from direct mail and digital campaigns to events and supporter engagement, ensuring our messaging is compelling, compassionate, and aligned with our values. Internationally, you’ll help to support the fundraising teams in six key markets (France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, USA, and Poland) to deliver locally relevant legacy campaigns, providing strategic guidance, content, and training.
About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a confident and strategic legacy marketing professional, with a proven track record of delivering impactful campaigns that inspire supporters to leave a very special gift. You’ll need to have a deep understanding of legacy fundraising, ideally gained within the charity or NGO sector, and be comfortable working across both UK and international markets.
You’ll need be highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented, with outstanding copywriting and creative skills. You will know how to craft compelling messages for direct response and be confident managing multi-channel campaigns. You will need to be able to work in a collaborative manner and skilled at engaging supporters with sensitivity and care. You’ll be comfortable managing budgets, suppliers, and data, and have a strong grasp of CRM systems (ideally Salesforce).

We are recruiting a Finance Officer for maternity cover to support the Head of Finance & Operations.
Key tasks include:
· Processing accounting transactions & recording financial data in our accounting system, in line with SWT Finance Policies.
· Ensuring that financial information is accurately logged in our Customer Relationship Management System, so Direct Debits and Gift Aid can be claimed promptly. This includes the administration of BACSTEL-IP payment services and BACS job submission software.
· Ownership and controller of the Sales Ledger
· Plus a wide and varied day to day list of tasks.
