We are looking for a Financial Analyst to play a key role in the finance and broader management team of our ancient and innovative Christian charity, which has a chapel and a pattern of prayer at its heart.

This is a new role established to support our Finance Director and provide analysis of results and performance to support the Commercial Director, managers and trustees in their decision-making processes.

The ideal candidate will be proactive and a great communicator. They will have excellent interpersonal skills and be particularly good at communicating often technical information to non-specialists. They will work well with others including colleagues, clients and suppliers.

Experienced and dedicated, they will support the management of this venerable and much-loved institution and be flexible to assist the small finance team, especially in busy periods.

As the Royal Foundation of St Katharine is a Christian retreat centre that is open to all regardless of faith, and as the post holder would be a member of the management team, it would be essential for this person to support the Christian ethos of the charity. It would be desirable if they felt able to support the rhythm of prayer in our chapel, though this is not a requirement.

Essential skills and experience

• Experience in the hospitality sector with a strong preference to hotels.
• University degree or equivalent.
• Either hold or be studying for a recognised accounting and finance qualification. Study support will be available for the right candidate.

The Associate Director of Policy & External Affairs is a highly influential role within the College as you will help advance our influencing activities to shape paediatric care, support the paediatric workforce and improve child health outcomes in the UK.

As Associate Director of Policy & External Affairs, you will take responsibility for  developing policy and external affairs activity that builds the College’s reputation amongst its key audiences, including decision-makers in governments, parliaments, the NHS and other policy makers and shapers. You will also lead on the College’s four-nation policy and external affairs strategies, working with relevant teams, committees and working groups in line with the annual operational plan.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Membership, Policy & External Affairs, you will provide senior strategic direction and operational leadership for three reporting teams, setting a high standard of work outcomes and a proactive and supportive work culture.

Leading cross-functional collaboration, you will work with other divisions to align the College’s influencing and communications activities to ensure the positive impact of our offering is actively communicated to our key stakeholders.

Educated to degree level or with equivalent professional experience, you should have a proven understanding of the structures and working of the Westminster government and the devolved administrations, along with health and social care organisations and local authorities. You will be an adept communications professional skilled at maintaining organisational reputation and landing key messages in the external environment.

With an in-depth understanding and experience of the political context in which policy decisions are made, your political astuteness and judgement in influencing policymakers and other stakeholders, will ensure you can achieve effective advocacy.

You should have exceptional experience and understanding of the national and international policy architecture, the policy environment and the networks within it. You should also have demonstrable experience of developing and delivering high-impact integrated campaigns.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. ShareAction’s Banking Standards team seeks to work with stakeholders such as banks, investors, and NGOs to make sure the banking industry take responsibility for their impact on people and planet. We have a history of campaigning on key aspects of banks’ climate strategies – such as their emission reduction targets or their fossil fuel policies – and we are gradually expanding our campaigning, research, and engagement work to other sustainability themes and banking regulation.

Position

What you’ll do (key responsibilities)

The Research Intern will primarily support the Senior Research Manager in updating, maintaining, and further developing a database tracking climate-related commitments made by the largest European banks. The commitments that we currently track include banks’ fossil fuel policies and emission reduction targets. The banking tracker is a critical source of information with multiple use cases: data collection for the banking survey and other research reports, engagement with banks and investors, and ability to respond quickly to announcements and media queries. The banking tracker was initially developed in 2021 to address specific research-related needs but has rapidly grown in size, in line with the scope of our banking research. Its use cases have also evolved in line with campaigning activities, and researchers aim to update it on an ongoing basis (e.g. when a bank makes a new commitment). Maintaining the database mobilises significant resources and further developments are needed to unlock the intended efficiencies and economies of scale across various use cases. The database is currently hosted in Excel and we are exploring alternative database management systems. The Research Intern will primarily support this effort during a 12-month internship.

In close collaboration with banking researchers, the Research Intern will contribute to the following tasks:

• Streamlining the structure of our internalbanking tracker (currently in Excel) and data collection process to ensure updates are made in a consistent manner across banks and themes (e.g. decarbonisation targets, sector policies such as fossil fuel policies).
• Developing our banking tracker to include new research themes (e.g. green finance targets).
• Integrating our banking tracker into the research process for banking surveys, ensuring that data can feed into survey questionnaires and scoring sheets.
• Strengthening the environment and infrastructure of the database to address performance issues and minimise operational errors.
• Reviewing banks’ sustainability disclosures and updating the banking tracker accordingly.

We are keen for the Research Intern to get exposure to all areas of ShareAction’s banks workstream. Depending on the team needs, the intern might be asked to:

• Support the Senior Campaigns Officer review resolutions paperwork.
• Contribute to the development of research positions that will inform the contents of our next banking survey and the more systematic consideration of climate justice concerns into our work.
• Provide ad-hoc admin and team support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Coordination: You will develop, implement, and evaluate the volunteer programme, creating diverse volunteering opportunities, and manage programme policies, procedures and budgets.
• Volunteer Recruitment, Training, and Support: As the main point of contact for volunteers, you will recruit volunteers with the right skills, coordinate and deliver volunteer training, support volunteers to achieve their goals, and organise knowledge-sharing and social sessions for volunteers.

The Volunteer & Community Outreach Manager will understand the current trends and resources required to manage a volunteer programme with demonstrable experience in developing and managing volunteer projects. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be an all-round people person, with empathy and an understanding of volunteer needs. You will be able to naturally inspire and motivate others and be able to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will have strong organisational skills, some budget management experience and good administrative and IT skills. The ability to speak another language, such as Bengali, would be beneficial. As part of the role, you will need to plan and deliver basic gardening and outdoor skills sessions

The role is based at Spitalfields City Farm. You must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. The role is full time, and you will need to work either Saturday or Sunday as part of your work pattern and 4-days during the week, Monday-Friday.

The Institutional Funding Manager will play an important role in SHA’s institutional income generation activities. Working closely with assigned country teams, the post-holder will support pipeline development, lead the development and writing of high-quality bids, donor engagement, and positioning for contract and grant opportunities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical for this role.

French and/or Portuguese language skills are desirable.

Proposal development
