Their vision is to build a strong and confident community. They have the following priorities:
• People: They will invest in their people to become active in local life, taking the lead on activities and events that bring people together and build community spirit. They will invest in their young people to have a brighter future

Our desire is to become a white-hot centre of faith, where people can meet with God and learn what it means to be empowered by His Spirit in their everyday lives. We inspire our congregation to see God’s Kingdon come here on earth as it is in heaven, wherever He has called them to live, work and play their part in awakening our city with the good news of Jesus. Have you got the skills needed to mobilise Churches in London for mission in a cross-cultural context?
Do you have experience in sharing the love of God and His gospel within diverse urban communities?
Do you have a passion for mission in London?
At London City Mission, we estimate that one in two Londoners, that’s roughly 4.5 million people, are unlikely to hear the gospel in their lifetime. These are the people who are unlikely to have a Christian friend to invite them to church or introduce them to the hope they can find in Jesus Christ. Many of those who have never heard the gospel will be from diverse people groups and faith communities.
We are convinced more than ever that LONDON NEEDS JESUS! And we believe that God’s plan is to reach this city through his church. As a Mission, we are partnering with churches who have a growing passion for reaching out to their neighbourhoods with the good news of Jesus Christ, but who need equipping and building up for this crucial work. This role is, therefore, Church mobilisation role.
We are seeking candidates for a Missionary role who have a passion for sharing the good news of Jesus with specific groups of Londoners, but who can also come alongside churches to train and inspire Christian believers to reach their local communities with the hope of the gospel. We are recruiting to the following roles:
-
Pan-London Team – Prisons & Resettlement specialism
-
Waterloo & Brixton – Homeless and Marginalised specialism
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a love for those least likely to hear of Jesus and marginalised people groups of London; a track record in evangelism amongst those from the particular specialism group; and the ability to inspire others in churches across a geographical area to get involved in ministry. They will work alongside and equip church volunteers for outreach amongst the people groups in their communities, working as part of an experienced gospel ministry team. They will also need to be able to raise ministry personal support, including a target financial support as well as prayer supporters for the work of the Mission through personal and church partnership networks.
These positions are full-time, permanent appointments. Starting salary is £21,720 per annum plus £1,100 per month housing allowance (taxable). Mission housing will be discussed with successful candidates after probation. Targets for personal financial support will be £8,500 for the year 2024.
There is an occupational requirement that the persons appointed be an evangelical Christian. Occupational Requirement provision of the Equality Act 2010 applies. The appointed candidate will be required to undertake a DBS check.

First Stage interviews will be held on Tuesday, 4th June 2024. Shortlisted candidates will need to be available on this date from 9am and may be needed for the full day, depending on scheduling.
