A prestigious and respected membership body representing healthcare professionals across the UK, is seeking an Executive Director of Finance and Operations to join their team on a long-term fixed-term-contract basis (24 months).

Reporting directly to the CEO and working alongside fellow Executive Directors and the Board, the Executive Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for leading Finance, IT, HR, and facilities functions across the organisation. A summary of key duties is provided below: 

• Provide strategic financial leadership to the Board, CEO, and senior leaders.
• Lead finance, IT, HR, and facilities functions 
• Staff management of 3 direct reports and a wider team across finance and HR 
• Manage risk, ensure compliance, and maintain strong internal financial controls
• Oversee group-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Prepare and present management accounts, year-end financial statements, and audits
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance (e.g. FRS 102, SORP, tax, pensions)
• Advise on long-term financial sustainability and resource allocation
• Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (banks, auditors, pension and investment providers).
• Lead procurement, contract management, and treasury operations.

About You

You will be a qualified accountant with experience operating at Director of Finance level. 

You may have also overseen non-finance directorates, though candidates with extensive finance-only experience who can demonstrate an ability to oversee non-finance areas are encouraged to apply 

Previous experience working in a membership body or similar is desirable

As an Impact Analyst you will work within a team of skilled analysts. A key programme you will become an integral part of delivering will be a community based, preventative emotional resilience and wellbeing pilot called Turning Tides

Turning Tides is a two-year pilot programme testing innovative means of protecting and promoting the mental health and wellbeing of vulnerable young people along the North Yorkshire Coast. The programme leverages local organisations and their expertise, providing each young person a dedicated coach who works to identify a participant's strengths and ambitions – and takes a community-based asset development approach to match those goals with opportunities in the local area.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include.

· Overseeing all data related aspects of the programme including data collection, extraction, cleaning, analysis, reporting, and presentation.

· Gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative data to measure the impact of service innovations for the programmes you are working across. Produce regular reports and insights that aid decision making to continuously improve programme design.

· Taking initiative to propose and implement relevant analyses to the project to maximise positive impact for participants with the programmes you are supporting.

· Building relationships and working at times directly with Delivery Partners (VCSE organisations who are delivering the frontline services for the programme) to ensure they are able to use the data systems accurately and effectively,

· Identifying opportunities for process automation and improving utilisation of management data by colleagues across the programme.

· Supporting the Programme Lead on all operational and project management needs, including coordination of team activities and providing other administrative support.

· Working with the Investment Lead and colleagues in Finance, to ensure invoices for outcomes achieved by participants within programmes are processed.

The Community Energy Adviser will deliver energy support sessions in local communities, empowering individuals and families through workshops and one-to-one support. Merton Winter Night Shelter provides a much-needed emergency shelter for the homeless during the coldest winter months. We offer a warm, safe and respectful place, with a welcoming environment, providing hot food and professional support to those who would otherwise be on street. We offer an opportunity for guests to rest, recharge and be supported into a more sustainable and stable lifestyle. 

We are seeking a part time Project Assistant to work with the Project Coordinator, who leads the project on a permanent basis. Min 6hrs over 3 evenings per week and occasional management meetings outside of the shelter. This would be initially shadowing the Project Coordinator at the different shelter venues and then independently and unsupervised attending venues supporting venue convenors and their volunteers. The hours will include weekends and bank holidays.

Purpose of Job:

· Supporting the Project Coordinator in managing and coordinating the Night Shelter to ensure that all venues give a consistent service to all homeless persons accepted into the shelter, i.e., its guests.

· Standing in for the Project Coordinator in supporting shelter convenors and their volunteers on two evenings per week after initial induction.

· Assisting the Project Coordinator in providing advice and support to help each guest work through the challenges they are facing, recognising that homelessness is often a result of complex and multiple problems.

Responsibilities:

In close consultation with the Project Coordinator to:

· Liaise with the Host Venue Co-ordinators to ensure timely communication and information, particularly in maintaining the Shelter Log Book, to enable the smooth running of the shelter.

· Support guests who are using services for welfare, legal, debt, housing and other specialist issues, where necessary.

· Engage with vulnerable people in a sensitive, empathetic and professional manner.

About the Role:

With responsibility for delivery of Outcome 2 of the Youth Empowerment Fund, this role will deliver initiatives relating to capacity building, youth-led advocacy and events and will sit within the GYM-YEF project coordination team under the supervision of the Project Coordination Leadership team.

What we do

The Manna Day Centre, a drop-in Centre for homeless and long-term unemployed single men and women, is run by a team of project workers under the Director, who are responsible for its smooth operation. Basic Services offered include food, showers, clothing, housing & welfare advice, medical care, and access to laptops. The Centre opens to the service users 7 days a week, 8.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m.

The Advice & Welfare team functions centre around finding accommodation, welfare benefits, debt management, sustainment of tenancies and support in becoming “job-ready”. Clients may approach us with other issues, and it will be the Advice & Welfare team’s collective responsibility to decide whether the matter can be managed within the team or requires external input/expertise e.g. immigration issues and refer/signpost accordingly. The focus is on delivering practical solutions to client issues.

Our advice sessions run from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. The sessions offer a mix of appointments and drop-in opportunities for existing users of the Advice & Welfare service and those who are new to the service

Working Hours

The working week for this particular post is Monday to Friday, 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. each day. Annual leave is 25 days plus time in lieu of bank holidays worked. The annual salary for this post ranges from £33,775 to to £41,359. The starting salary will be dependent on your experience.

Reporting

Responsibilities – Advice & Welfare Work

a) Lead and manage other members of the team through supervision, advice & welfare meetings etc in coming to agreement on implementation of policies and procedures tasks and pathways for client cases.

b) To manage a caseload of clients as agreed with the Director and the Advice & Welfare team representing/advocating for the client, as necessary

c) To help develop partnership and networking opportunities to expand our repertoire of providers in housing and other key areas

d) Keep up to date with appropriate legislation and policies. In doing so, attend relevant training to deliver “best advice” and make recommendations/research required training for other members of the Advice & Welfare team

e) Write reports and deliver statistics on your clients as required

f) Maintain confidential records and administrative systems including database, block grants and petty cash systems amongst others

g) Contribute newsletter articles on a quarterly basis

h) Attend team meetings of all staff as required

i) Ensure compliance with all society policies relating to Advice & Welfare and the centre

Responsibilities – Administration

As the senior worker in the team, you will be expected to assume responsibility/provide support in the following areas:

a) Providing statistical analysis and reporting as required by LB Southwark grant which supports the cost of running the Advice & Welfare team in part

b) Providing ad-hoc reports/case studies to support external grant applications on behalf of the society

c) Support the Safeguarding Lead (the Director) in producing the Safeguarding policy and associated materials, ensure that the Advice & Welfare Team have up to date Safeguarding and Prevent training

d) Manage all formal Subject Access requests in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and support members of the team undertaking SARs on behalf of Advice & Welfare clients

e) Manage and disseminate all private rented property vacancies to the curated list of recipients on a daily basis

f) Assume responsibility for the database to maximise efficiency and ensure that all records are maintained to enable production of reports

g) Maintain all grant spreadsheets for accuracy and in readiness for annual accounts/audits

h) Be responsible for managing regular Advice & Welfare meetings and subsequent actions arising from those meetings

i) Prepare Advice and Welfare presentations for bi-monthly management committee and attend said meetings

These are the principal responsibilities. However, the Director may require staff members to undertake other duties, as and when circumstances dictate – for example, staff/volunteer shortages, holidays, special occasions, etc.

As Community Development Co-ordinator, you’ll lead the delivery of a vibrant, resident-led health and wellbeing programme across Highgate Newtown and nearby estates. Working closely with local volunteers (Community Champions), residents and partners, you’ll co-produce a wide range of weekly activities that tackle health inequalities, strengthen community ties, and amplify local voices. Activities could include mental health workshops, family play sessions, health information pop-ups, gardening projects, and community cafés - no two weeks will look the same. You’ll recruit, support and nurture a team of passionate volunteers, ensuring they grow into confident community leaders.

A key part of the role involves building strong relationships with local services, schools, faith groups and community venues, and making sure resident feedback shapes everything we do. You’ll coordinate themed campaigns, facilitate listening sessions, promote the programme creatively across the estates, and track the outcomes and stories behind our impact. This is a hands-on, outward-facing role requiring creativity, adaptability and strong organisational skills. Based at Barnes House with some hybrid working from home, you’ll also be regularly out in the neighbourhood - walking, talking, connecting, and helping residents lead change where it matters most.

About the role 

The Campaign & Programme Lead: Climate & Health supports health workers to campaign for just and proportionate action on climate change, working closely with our Movement Organiser and other colleagues. Currently our work focuses on the intersection of climate and housing, working to end the public health crisis of fuel poverty and poor-quality homes. In particular this role is responsible for national advocacy and campaigning on fuel poverty and housing, supporting members to organise in their local communities, and being a key part in the Homes for Health campaign team.

The role involves holding Medact’s key knowledge base on climate and health issues. You will build relationships across the health community and wider climate movement, from establishment institutions to frontline workers and grassroots groups. 

About you

This is a skilled role but you don’t need to have had a job in an NGO before or be a professional campaigner to be right for it. You might have worked with your local community to campaign on a social justice or health issue that you care about. Or, you might be a health worker who has seen the impact of these issues on your patients and wants to challenge the systems that drive inequity and marginalisation. 

You’ll have a strong understanding of power and how to work with others to create pressure for change. You need to be a great communicator, able to build trusting relationships with Medact members, academics, partner organisations and community groups. You’ll have an understanding of how digital communications compliment campaigning and an eye for a good media story.
