We are looking for a dynamic and innovative fundraising specialist individual with drive and passion that aligns with the purpose of The Iolanthe Midwifery Trust to join our Board of Trustees. As a proven fundraising specialist, you will work in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, The Executive Director and the Philanthropy Officer as we roll out our fundraising strategy.The Fundraising Trustee will sit on the Board as well as The Finance and Fundraising sub committees.

Iolanthe has an endowment fund which provides some of the income needed each year to fund awards. As part of our 3 year strategy we will  diversity our income streams and focus on the following areas

• Individual

• Legacies

• Philanthropy/Corporates

We have recently appointed a Philanthropy Officer who is working to roll out our fundraising strategy and have a legacy consultant working with us to develop this area further.

Key responsibilities for fundraising lead trustee

• Oversight of Fundraising Strategy

• Digital fundraising

• Support with dealing with Donors

• Support with Fundraising Events/Event Management

• Identification and support with HNW/Philanthropic Fundraising

• CSR

Meetings: 

The Board meets three times a year in March, June and October.  All but 1 meeting (October combined AGM/Board meeting/Award event) are  held remotely.  Meetings generally last no longer than 2 hours and with the exception of the October meetings are held on a weekday evening.

The Finance sub committee meets remotely 3 times a year approximately 10 days ahead of the Board meetings.

The Fundraising sub committee will meet remotely and feed through to the main Board meetings.

Fundraising trustee - this is what we need from you

Proven experience of executing successful fundraising campaigns, who can provide support with the following key areas:

• Strategy development: Working with the Board of Trustees, Executive Director and Philanthropy Officer to help shape an effective fundraising strategy, fostering long-term sustainability and growth in line with our values

• Strategy execution: Support as necessary the process of fund identification 

• Partnership Development: Targeted and strategic identification of partnerships to advance our goals and support to manage key stakeholders

We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Volunteer for the Stanhope and Weardale Group. As our Fundraising Volunteer you’ll support your Group Coordinator to organise local fundraising activities and events throughout the year.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills. Most importantly you’ll inspire your local community to raise funds that help make sure no one has to face MS alone.

Time Commitment

As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. We are seeking to appoint two new Trustees to join the Board at this exciting phase. You will be part of a committed and forward-thinking Board, acting as a “critical friend” to the Executive Team and offering clear governance oversight to the charity. You will have the exciting opportunity to help support the planning and implementation of our Strategy from 2025 onwards, and to help develop and shape our long-term business plans.

POhWER is particularly interested in candidates who can offer expertise in one of the following areas:

• Involvement in the social care/advocacy sector and with experience of the local authority and commissioning environment;
• Experience of HR, typically at executive or board level.

Time commitment: Approximately one day per month and no requirement to attend offices. Board and Committee meetings are generally held on a Thursday early morning.

The Senior Chef is responsible for the daily planning and preparation of the on-board menus, training of the Galley Team, hygiene, safety and cleanliness of the Galley areas. This position supports the Food Services Manager by ensuring the Galley Team Leaders have everything they need to complete their daily tasks and supply the crew with well-balanced, nutritious, and enjoyable meals.

   Ensure coordination for supplies and food preparation between Galley teams.

• Contribute and coordinate with Food Services Manager for the 6-week menu and long-term supply order.

• Oversight of cleanliness and hygiene of Galley areas by conducting daily spot checks.

• Carry out final walk-through of the Galley in the evening to ensure high standard of cleanliness and all equipment is switched off and stowed appropriately.

• Train Galley crew in preparation, hygiene and safety procedures as laid out in Food Services SOP.

• Take lead on special functions and coordinate for events requiring catering.

• Working outside of regular hours as required.

- Run tutoring sessions online to support a young person.

- Help to combat social isolation through fun and engaging tutoring sessions.

Join our amazing volunteer team in this flexible opportunity that puts you at the heart of our work supporting blind and partially sighted people. You’ll make taking part in events and carrying out volunteering easier and more enjoyable for our customers and volunteers with sight loss. You’ll take some of the stress and anxiety out of getting around and taking part in activities as a blind or partially sighted person. The help you give will encourage people to do more. What you’ll be doing • Sighted guiding / giving practical help to individuals in and around venues, so they can take part in events. • Supporting volunteers with sight loss with their volunteering activities which range from facilitating a regular community group to delivering a talk about sight loss to a local business. Your role would involve things like guiding; Meeting and greeting at group activities or creating a welcoming and interesting display stand at events. In this role you will only be helping individuals in places open to the public, often in a group setting. We will provide training in sighted guiding techniques and understanding sight loss.
