The Role
We are seeking a driven, talented, energetic and creative individual for the role of Director of Development. This is a one-year maternity cover post.
In this role, you will work closely with and report to the Principal and Chief Executive and will be responsible for implementing and delivering a comprehensive and coherent fundraising strategy for LAMDA.
You will lead and deliver major gift campaigns, including the biennial Gala, to ensure the sustainability and success of LAMDA as the world’s leading centre for drama training. With the ability to work collegiately and collaboratively with all staff and stakeholders, you will have demonstrable experience in implementing and delivering a successful major fundraising strategy.
To be successful, you will be confident and proactive, a verbal and written communicator and a skilled networker with a very strong track record of relationship building. Additionally, you will have proven experience of working in a senior fundraising role in the arts, higher education or charity sector.
In this role, you will work 35 hours per week (9.30 am – 5.30 pm), Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to work outside these hours to attend events and productions in accordance with business needs.

We are looking for a talented fundraiser, with a background in the cultural sector to join the Gardens, Libraries & Museums (GLAM) Team within the Development and Alumni Engagement team of the University of Oxford.
You will be working with such iconic institutions as the Pitt Rivers Museum, the Oxford Botanic Gardens, the History of Science Museum and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. In this role in any given week you might see a dodo, extraordinary thousand-year old Chinese ceramics, insects collected by Darwin, the first scientifically described dinosaur and drawings by John Ruskin, as well as work on projects involving saving the largest flower in the world or supporting world-leading restitution work.
The collections are important and renowned on their own accounts, but also play a key role in the University’s research. In addition, they are the open doors to the University of Oxford, encouraging a diverse range of communities to engage our academics and curators.
Your role will include fundraising for major gifts to support the museums and gardens, and leading a team of fundraisers who will work to support a wide range of activities across the institutions. You will also work closely with the Directors and other curators to raise funds from a range of donors and supporters. You will work with the Associate Director of Development – GLAM to develop strategies and manage relationships with the Directors and be part of the wider fundraising team for GLAM.

Purpose of the Role
The Digital Marketing Manager will implement and help develop a new digital marketing strategy, crucial to the ongoing development of ArtsEd’s profile and reputation and the successful delivery of all our programmes.
Understanding the needs of current and prospective students and pupils and their parents, and being able to identify digital plans and initiatives which will enable ArtsEd to meet both the long and short-term needs is a central aspect of the role.
The Digital Marketing Manager will lead in the planning and implementation of digitally creative and customer focused campaigns and will be responsible for the achievement of student and pupil recruitment targets. They will work closely with senior staff and the rest of the Marketing team to deliver highly effective experiences to all stakeholders and potential stakeholders.
The Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for the continuing development of ArtsEd’s online profile amongst all of our target audiences, including high-level industry connections, potential supporters and the local community, alongside potential students, pupils and parents.
In addition, the Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for ensuring that ArtsEd’s messaging is consistent, innovative and compelling across all platforms.
Digital Marketing
- Plan and execute digital marketing, including SEO/SEM, email, social media and display advertising campaigns in collaboration with the wider marketing team.
- Use digital marketing expertise to create effective user funnels to optimise conversion rates, tracking user behaviour in order to refine processes.
- Collaborate closely with staff across the organisation to identify storytelling opportunities to ensure a full understanding of ArtsEd’s broad range of target audiences.

- Building on existing digital activity to maximise its reach and impact against all of our target audiences, including digital and associated print advertising.
- Managing an associated programme of recruitment focused events and activities, both virtual and face-to-face, to raise our profile and to maximise our enquires, registrations, applications and acceptances across all of our activities.
- Supporting the relevant teams in the delivery of this programme, which will include existing activity e.g. Day School and Sixth Form Open Days, degree audition days and our outreach programme.

We are looking for two Development Managers to join our Development team focusing on Individual Giving and Trust and Foundation Fundraising.

The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will manage the strategic development of Individual Giving, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The post-holder will oversee the delivery of our Regular Giving programmes and will also manage relationships with high-level donors to identify and securing major gifts.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:
- Drive acquisition, retention and growth of Individual Giving at all levels with a particular view to growing unrestricted income from this stream.
- Develop and deliver inspiring Regular Giving appeals, understanding the key motivations of our supporters and in line with the strategic objectives of the organisation.
- Lead on the delivery of all aspects of the Patron programme, in particular stewardship of Patrons and supporting the Head of Development in a strategic review of the programme.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to grow visitor giving, taking a multi-channel and innovative approach.
- Proactively manage a personal portfolio of prospects and donors to secure mid- and major-level gifts from Individuals, ensuring that tailored moves management strategies are employed to meaningfully move relationships towards solicitation.
The Development Manager (Trust and Foundations) will manage the strategic development of Trusts and Foundations fundraising, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The post-holder will oversee income generation from grant-making organisations and ensure timely reporting to funders.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:
- Drive growth of Trusts and Foundations income especially at the five- and six-figure level, with a particular view to supporting unrestricted income and major projects in the organisation’s pipeline.
- Proactively manage a personal portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, regularly meeting and engaging with prospective funders to pitch proposals and check-in around expectations.
- Liaise with key internal stakeholders to develop accurate, compelling funding applications in line with deadlines set by funders.
- Build lasting relationships with funders in order to establish opportunities for multi-year income generation.
- Drive the Trusts and Foundations prospecting process and increase the range of prospects approached for support, utilising prospect research tools and securing introductions from our network.

The Fundraising and Development Director will lead income and resource generation through development strategies, bidding and relationship building. We will expect you to represent our interests in a range of public and private sector contexts and expect you to be a confident and proactive verbal and written communicator and a skilled networker with a strong track record of relationship building.
This is a senior role in an expanding organisation and is closely aligned with our growth and capital development ambitions with the next three years focused on capital fundraising alongside strategic project development.
The postholder will work closely with and report to the Chief Executive, you will also have a close working relationship with the Executive Director (Programme and Impact) to ensure the resources are in place to fulfil our programme ambitions. You will support the charity’s trustees to be effective champions of our work.

- Lead integrated communications campaigns promoting the RSA's nationwide programmes, policy interventions, and public events.
- Build and maintain a strong media profile for the RSA, targeting key audiences including policymakers, businesses, academia, and the wider public.
- Secure media coverage and exposure across various publications and platforms.
- Cultivate new press and public affairs contacts to further organisational objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and content delivery.
- Write engaging and newsworthy content for various platforms, including the RSA Journal
Person Specification:
- Experience in media relations, public affairs, journalism, or policy.
