The Grants Compliance Officer plays an important role in supporting the effective financial management and oversight of AmplifyChange's grant portfolio. Working as part of the Grants Compliance Team, you'll help ensure grant funding reaches our Grantee Partners, is used for its intended purpose and is managed in line with our compliance and donor requirements.
Reporting to the Grants Compliance Manager, you'll lead the financial management of your own portfolio of grants, supporting due diligence assessments, reviewing financial reports and budgets, monitoring compliance, and helping to strengthen the financial management capacity of Grantee Partners. You'll work closely with colleagues across the Grants Support Team, Finance, Operations and Learning, Monitoring and Evaluation, providing practical advice and support throughout the grant lifecycle.
AmplifyChange is a bilingual fund, and this role has a particular focus on supporting French-speaking Grantee Partners across Africa, South Asia and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Fluency in spoken and written French is therefore essential.
This is a varied and rewarding role that combines financial analysis, relationship management and organisational strengthening. You'll build trusted relationships with Grantee Partners while helping to safeguard grant funding and support the delivery of high-quality projects.
The role includes some international travel to visit Grantee Partners and support compliance activities will be required.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Compliance and Financial Management
You'll support effective financial management and compliance across your grant portfolio by:
- Managing a portfolio of approximately 100–120 grants.
- Reviewing and approving project budgets, providing detailed feedback and guidance to Grantee Partners.
- Reviewing and approving financial reports, providing advice on budget management, exchange rates and financial compliance.
- Supporting Grantee Partners with budget revisions where required.
- Reviewing documentation relating to due diligence recommendations, supporting ongoing compliance and organisational strengthening.
Due Diligence and Risk Management
You'll help safeguard AmplifyChange's funding by:
- Supporting funding round processes, including financial eligibility checks, initial financial assessments, due diligence and operational support.
- Carrying out light-touch and full due diligence assessments of prospective and existing Grantee Partners operating in diverse and complex contexts.
- Analysing due diligence findings and making recommendations to strengthen organisational systems and financial controls.
- Carrying out expenditure verification and identifying potential instances of fraud or financial irregularity.
- Reviewing organisational policies, audited financial statements and project audit reports to assess compliance and financial risk.
Partner Support and Capacity Strengthening
You'll build trusted relationships with Grantee Partners and strengthen their financial management capacity by:
- Acting as the first point of contact for financial management and compliance queries within your grant portfolio.
- Providing technical advice and guidance to support effective financial management and compliance.
- Designing and delivering webinars and organisational strengthening sessions on financial management, reporting, due diligence and grant compliance.
- Conducting compliance monitoring visits and delivering compliance sessions during in-country partner convenings.
- Supporting our online Grantee Partner community through the Circle platform.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
You'll work collaboratively across AmplifyChange to support effective grant management and continuously improve our processes by:
- Working closely with the Grants Support Team, Finance, Operations and Learning, Monitoring and Evaluation teams throughout the grant lifecycle.
- Supporting the Grants Compliance Manager with donor reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and other organisational priorities.
- Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of grant management systems, processes and ways of working.
- Sharing learning and feedback to strengthen compliance practices and improve the experience of Grantee Partners.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
We're looking for someone who is organised, collaborative and committed to supporting effective grant management. You'll have excellent attention to detail, strong financial and analytical skills, and the confidence to build positive working relationships with Grantee Partners and colleagues across AmplifyChange. You'll be comfortable managing your own workload, working across multiple priorities and contributing to a purpose-driven organisation.
Essential
- Sensitivity to, and support for, the values and general aims of AmplifyChange.
- Fluency in spoken and written French.
- Experience in a finance, grants, audit or risk management role, including experience of due diligence, financial reporting or compliance.
- Educated to A-level or equivalent.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and advanced Excel
- An interest in working within the international development and sexual and reproductive health and rights sector.
- Experience of working in a collaborative team environment and building effective relationships across diverse teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
- Good financial awareness, analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
- Ability to use initiative and apply a proactive, solution-focused approach to work.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Willingness and ability to undertake international travel.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a charity, grant-making or not-for-profit organisation.
- Experience of grants management systems, with Fluxx experience advantageous.
- Experience of working in sexual and reproductive health and rights and/or international development.
- Experience of working with organisations across Africa, South Asia and/or the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Fluency in Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Portuguese or another language relevant to the fund.
WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
Reports to the Grants Compliance Manager.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week).
Some international travel to visit Grantee Partners and support compliance activities will be required.
AmplifyChange operates a hybrid working model, with at least one day per week based in our Bath office. Requests for flexible working arrangements will be considered.

Basic salary range £31,000 to £34,000

Saferworld is seeking to recruit a Project Coordinator. The Project Coordinator will support effective and efficient project and grant coordination with Saferworld staff and partners, supporting the achievement of programmatic and organisational goals, with a strong focus on Afghanistan within the Asia and MENA region. The role will focus on day-to-day relationship building and support to civil society partner organisations in difficult contexts, and is expected to require high levels of adaptability, flexibility and support to locally led approaches in the programme. The role will also have a strong focus on managing timelines, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations, and ensuring management and tracking of all supporting documentation.

About the role
- The Head of Funding and Programme Development will shape Saferworld’s income profile in alignment with our organisational strategy and change process. The post-holder will lead the development and implementation of Saferworld’s funding strategy, ensuring it supports our strategic, programmatic and operational priorities.
- The role will focus on strengthening the quality, flexibility and diversity of Saferworld’s funding base, nurturing relationships with strategic institutional donors, growing philanthropic funding, and identifying new income opportunities.
- This is an exciting opportunity to influence Saferworld’s fundraising and programme development approach during a pivotal period for the organisation. The role will line-manage a small team across programme development, philanthropy and funding.
Key responsibilities
- As part of Saferworld’s senior leadership, you will support organisation-wide initiatives and contribute to strategic decision-making. You will monitor funding trends, identify emerging issues relevant to Saferworld’s work and partnership approaches, and develop appropriate strategies to respond.
- Working closely with the Senior Operations Team, you will ensure funding plans are developed across business units and thematic/regional areas, and that income pipelines are maintained while quality assurance and active cost recovery are proactively pursued. You will oversee the funding and prospects pipeline, produce data and analysis to support decision-making, and provide regular reporting to senior leaders and the Board.
- Externally, you will represent Saferworld with key donors, partners and networks, building strategic relationships and identifying funding opportunities.
- You will lead the development, implementation and monitoring of Saferworld’s funding strategy, ensuring a balanced, ethical and diverse portfolio of restricted and unrestricted income streams. This will include securing quality funding against agreed targets and supporting income diversification through trusts and foundations, commercial funding, and other sources.
- You will work closely with Saferworld’s Grant Management Team to ensure a coordinated and strategic approach to donor relationship management and cultivation. You will also lead the design of multi-country and thematic proposals, as well as consortia bid development, to strengthen partnerships and support new ways of resourcing Saferworld’s strategy.
- The post-holder will set standards for collaborative and participatory programme design, manage proposal development processes from opportunity notice to contract signing, and ensure learning from donor feedback is used to strengthen our fundraising approach.
- You will lead the Funding Leadership Team to ensure cross-organisational ownership of fundraising efforts, and work closely with regional, thematic, policy and grant management colleagues throughout the funding cycle.
People and leadership
- You will line-manage the Funding and Programme Development Team and foster an environment where staff feel empowered, take responsibility and are accountable for achieving organisational objectives.
- You will ensure the team facilitates strong participatory programme design and proposal development with partners and staff, embedding Saferworld’s organisational values and principles. You will also support the team to work closely with colleagues across the organisation, grounding proposals in learning, evidence and evaluation findings.
About you
- You will bring proven senior leadership experience in funding, with a track record of developing and implementing funding strategies and raising income through a range of donors, including individuals, institutions, trusts and foundations. You will also have experience securing high-value contracts and grants of seven figures.
- You will have strong experience of leading complex participatory programme design, including developing budgets, monitoring frameworks and proposals. You will be confident coordinating programme development processes with multiple teams and partners to ensure a collaborative and inclusive approach.
- You will have a proven track record of motivating, mentoring and managing a team, and supporting that team to think creatively about fundraising. You will also be confident developing networks, building alliances, and nurturing relationships with individuals, collaborators and funders.
- You will bring a strong understanding of key political, development and humanitarian trends and debates, particularly linked to peacebuilding, development, human rights, governance, and security and justice. You will also have sound knowledge of UK civil society and charity regulatory requirements, and an understanding of the current international aid, peacebuilding and human rights funding environment.
- Experience of working and/or living in conflict-affected contexts, and understanding of peacebuilding and conflict prevention, are desirable.
Skills and qualities
- You will have excellent leadership and management skills, including strategic planning and business development. You will be able to provide sound financial and compliance advice, demonstrate good financial stewardship, and bring a creative, proactive approach to your work.
- You will be able to set priorities while working under pressure, adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities, and move between hands-on involvement in proposal writing and strategic oversight.
- You will bring strong communication skills, including experience of communicating across cultures and with diverse audiences. You will understand the power imbalances that may be reflected in programme design and budgeting, and bring a strong commitment to inclusive processes and to shifting power and resources to partners.
