Hours: 8am – 4pm, 5 days out of 7, Monday to Sunday
The Role
The Café Supervisor ensures that each hospice café is not only well-run but a haven of comfort and connection for patients, families, staff, and visitors. In this role, you lead by example, providing an exceptional hospitality experience while ensuring that food safety, sustainability, and inclusivity remain at the heart of what they do. Key Responsibilities:
Café Operations & Leadership
- Take the lead in managing the day-to-day running of the café, ensuring a smooth and efficient service.
- Supervise and support Café Assistants and volunteers, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard.
- Maintain a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all customers.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and maintain high standards of cleanliness across the café.
- Ensure all food and drinks are prepared and served in accordance with the Hospice’s policies and food hygiene regulations.
- Manage the cash register and card payments, ensuring accuracy and security.
Food Safety, Allergen Management & Compliance
- Ensure all café staff comply with Level 2 Food Safety in Catering standards.
- Act as the Allergen Champion, ensuring full compliance with allergen laws and best practices.
- Maintain up-to-date allergen information for all food and drinks served in the café.
- Train and support Café Assistants and volunteers in allergen awareness and cross-contamination prevention.
- Ensure accurate allergen signage and information is available for customers.
- Implement and oversee HACCP procedures, temperature logs, and allergen records.
- Ensure all food is correctly stored, labelled, and handled to prevent contamination.
- Monitor and enforce cleaning schedules to meet environmental health standards.
Stock & Supplier Management
- Order stock and manage inventory to reduce waste while ensuring availability of key items.
- Liaise with suppliers and place orders in a timely manner.
- Support sustainability initiatives by reducing food waste and sourcing ethical suppliers where possible.
- Work closely with the Head of Cafe Operations to monitor stock costs and suggest efficiencies.
People Management & Training
- Support the induction and ongoing training of Café Assistants and volunteers.
- Provide clear guidance to staff on roles and responsibilities, including allergen awareness.
- Ensure volunteers are trained and supported in their café roles, fostering an inclusive and positive working environment.
Customer Engagement & Development
- Ensure high levels of customer service and responsiveness to feedback.
- Work with the Head of Cafe Operations to develop menus and pricing strategies.
- Support hospice fundraising events by aligning café operations with planned activities.
- Provide reassurance and guidance to customers with allergens or dietary concerns.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in a similar café or hospitality role.
- Level 2 Food Safety in Catering (or willingness to obtain before starting).
- Knowledge and understanding of allergen regulations, with a commitment to ensuring compliance.

The Role
As a Warehouse Operations Manager you will oversee the Manse Lane Warehouse in Knaresborough, including donation sorting, storage, and supporting the eCommerce and Facilities teams.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will manage the smooth migration of the sorting operation from the Hornbeam Park Donation Centre to Knaresborough, ensuring minimal disruption for customers, staff, and volunteers. Once operational, you will lead stock control and movement across both the Warehouse and Donation Centre, ensuring both sites are well-resourced and run efficiently seven days a week. Although sorting will move to Knaresborough, donation handling will continue at Hornbeam Park, requiring ongoing process review to minimise stock double-handling.
Specifically, you will:
Warehouse Setup & Migration – initial objective

Define goals, deliverables, and timelines for the new warehouse project.

Create detailed project and budget plans with the Finance Business Partner.

Identify resources, manage risks, and ensure operational alignment.

Design an efficient warehouse layout and manage setup (equipment, tech, logistics).
Operational Handover & SOPs

Develop and implement new SOPs and adjust existing ones to suit the new site.

Support the Centre Manager with Duty Management planning and reconfigure the Hornbeam site to reflect its updated purpose.
Monitoring, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

Monitor success of migration via KPIs (efficiency, inventory accuracy, staff feedback).

Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and oversee risk assessments.
Ongoing Operational Management - Donation Centre & Warehouse

Ensure smooth day-to-day running of both sites, maintaining compliance, service quality, and brand standards.

Oversee the flow of donated stock from receipt to final distribution, minimising double handling and maintaining stock visibility.
Customer, Donor & Volunteer Experience

About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

Key Requirements: What you'll bring with you

The Role
We are currently looking for two Centre Support Assistants to join our Retail, Services and Operations team.
The role will be interesting and varied and will provide support across departments to ensure the centre is able to operate efficiently and effectively 7 days a week. We recognise that this a varied role and all appropriate training will be provided, to ensure you possess the knowledge to effectively operate as part of all our customer facing teams, as well as within our donation centre.
Reporting to the Centre Manager, as Centre Support Assistant, your primary role will be to provide a professional and warm welcome to the Yorkshire Cancer Research Hornbeam Centre. You will undertake administrative tasks to support the delivery of the Active Together Harrogate service and the smooth running of the centre. You will also provide cover across our Donation Centre, Delivery Team, Café and Hornbeam Shop as required.
Specifically, you will:
- Help create a welcoming, professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all donors, customers and supporters.
- Establish good working relationships with all visitors to the centre.
- Show responsibility for personal health and safety and security, and that of others in the conduct of the role.
- Take ownership of all workplace areas ensuring a high standard of presentation, cleanliness and functionality throughout.
- Respond to and report safeguarding concerns in line with Yorkshire Cancer Research safeguarding policy and procedures.
- Communicate in person, by phone or in written communication to provide information about the Active Together service and wider charity.
- Support Active Together service users to navigate the service and sign-post to approved educational, health and wellbeing resources as necessary, ensuring information is up to date.
- Process referrals and questionnaires, handle eligibility queries and bookings, working closely with the Service Manager and delivery team to ensure consultations and classes are appropriately booked.
- Follow all policies and procedures to contribute to the smooth running of the Donation Centre.
- Ensure donations are sorted and stored appropriately and in-line with Yorkshire Cancer Research procedures.
- Accompany a member of the team to carry out deliveries and collections of furniture and goods across Yorkshire, to and from shops and customers, including disposal of waste materials.
- Assist in all aspects of running our café at Hornbeam Park, including opening and closing procedures, food production, preparation of hot drinks, till operation and cleaning tasks.
- Assist in all aspects of running our shop at Hornbeam Park, including merchandising, till operation and cleaning/tidying tasks.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- To ideally be educated to GCSE standard including Maths and English.
- To have previous experience in a customer facing role and a high level of commitment to customer care is essential.
- To have proven administration experience and experience of maintaining accurate records is essential.
- To have high computer literacy with comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
- To be up to date with safeguarding and confident in raising any concerns.
- To have a good knowledge of GDPR requirements and how to apply them is essential.
- To enjoy delivering excellent customer service and customer/supporter interaction.
- To be happy to work independently and ask for support where this is needed, but also like to both work with and support colleagues as part of a team working towards a common goal.
- To have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to use active listening skills, and write professionally and appropriately for a range of diverse audiences.

The Charity:
Aphasia Support is a passionate, community-centred charity. Our mission is to improve the wellbeing of people with Aphasia and their carers by providing tailored speech and language therapy and long-term support. We want to create a world where every person with Aphasia has access to support and can communicate with confidence.
The charity currently has 4 staff members (Chief Executive, Fundraising & Communications Manager, Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, Administrator) and 8 Speech and Language Therapists working for the charity on a sessional basis. The sessional workers oversee our 1to1 support and aphasia cafes. The charity has over 60 volunteers who provide the 1to1 support and help run our aphasia cafes.
The Role:
Aphasia Support is looking to recruit a Community Engagement & Volunteer Officer who will work with the charity’s speech and language therapy team and volunteers in West Yorkshire, Harrogate and Barnsley to ensure our support reaches the people who need it most.
We envisage this to be a split role:
- 3 days focused on ensuring people in West Yorkshire, Harrogate and Barnsley receive timely support through the charity's community-based Aphasia Cafe's and at-home 1:1 speech and language therapy service.
- 2 days focused on overseeing the charity's volunteer recruitment and retention programme, ensuring Aphasia Support's valued volunteers receive the best possible experience, utilising their time and resource to create the biggest impact.

· Gaining a thorough understanding of the speech and language therapy apps used by the charity and supported conversation techniques. You will work towards being the resident expert on the speech and language therapy apps used by the charity.
· Matching people with aphasia with volunteers for our 1to1 support service within West Yorkshire, Harrogate and Barnsley.
· Completing initial appointments in the client’s home alongside volunteers. Taking speech and language therapy assessments and turning them into clear therapy plans that can be delivered confidently by the volunteers.
· Provide ongoing advice and support to volunteers and clients.

Essential
· Good general level of education or equivalent work-based experience

Oasis Community Hub Hadley encompasses a variety of integrated and diverse community projects which together have a common aim to bring transformation to the whole person and the whole community.
Oasis Community Hub Hadley is looking for a project Administrator to maintain the smooth day-to-day running of the Oasis Youth Support project at North Middlesex University Hospital, a project supporting young people who have experienced violence which has had a negative impact on their mental wellbeing.
Duties Include;
1. Updating and maintaining the project’s database from local NHS systems.
2. Identifying young people eligible for the service by screening referrals or trawling the hospital system and ensuring these are collated on the project database to be contacted by the youth workers.
3. Quality assure the data being recorded on the EVIDE system.
4. Preparing regular reports as required by the projects funders or other stakeholders.
You could be successful in this role if you:
· Have a relevant experience with administration, including using excel, word and other Microsoft systems.
· Have an eye for detail and accuracy.
· Possess excellent oral/written communication and organisational skills.
· Are self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative and work to deadlines.
