We have an exciting opportunity for an established and highly motivated Director of Finance to join our Senior Leadership Team, and who will be responsible for providing financial leadership, control and planning for the organisation.
Victim Support is the leading charity in England and Wales that supports people affected by crime and traumatic incidents. We provide personalised support to help people manage after crime and feel safer through a combination of dedicated specialist services as well as on-line support. We also ensure victims know their rights and we campaign to make them stronger.
Each year we offer information and support to almost 800,000 people and 153,000 received tailored support from our dedicated, skilled support workers and volunteers, Independent Domestic Abuse advisors and Independent Sexual Violence advisors. We are a truly independent organisation that delivers our services both through local teams embedded in the communities in which they live and work, as well as nationally through services such as the National Homicide Service, our 24/7 Support line, our live chat service and our on-line self-help platform, My Support Space.
This year we celebrate our 50th anniversary. As we look ahead to the future, we will continue to deliver the highest quality services to those that need them. We will give victims a voice and a platform to create change and reform in a deeply broken criminal justice system. We will listen, adapt and improve, giving victims options and flexibility in how they access our support, reflecting the changing ways we all live our lives.
In order to achieve our vision we need a highly capable Director of Finance to build and improve on our high-performing finance function and to drive forward operational excellence.
Reporting directly into the CEO, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our financial strategy, long-term financial planning, and developing commercial strategies to maximise income and operating contribution. You will also have responsibility of cash management, risk management and governance. You will be the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) for the organisation and will lead on Property and Procurement.
This is a varied and exciting role which will provide you with the opportunity of leading a well-established team of professionals, reporting on the financial performance of the organisation together with providing analysis, advice and support to facilitate decision making to deliver sound financial management.
You will be a qualified accountant, and will need to demonstrate:
· Proven experience in a leadership role;
· Experience at Board level and ability to work in collaboration with Trustees and colleagues;
· Understanding and experience of strategic risk management, finance audit and internal controls
You will be a confident, energetic and engaging individual with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of sustainable growth and excellent service delivery. Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice are looking for a press officer to oversee our press and communications as we fight to ensure the mistakes from the pandemic are never repeated again.
This is an exciting opportunity to manage the press office for an organisation which in recent years has been at the forefront of some of the biggest news stories in the country, including the Covid Inquiry, ‘Partygate’ and many more.
We are looking for someone who supports our cause of ensuring that the mistakes made in the pandemic are never repeated and has good people skills to work sensitively with those who have been bereaved by Covid-19.
You will be one of a four person staff team working alongside our Directors and over 7,000 members who are all personally bereaved. You will be line managed by our campaign manager.

Press Officer Responsibilities:
• Manage our press officer so that we are able to respond to press inquiries in a timely and effective manner. We are lucky enough to manage a very busy press office, so strong organisational skills are required.
• Create press plans and proactively pitch stories which help achieve our wider campaign goals. This will involve creating press strategies with creative flare and the Press Officer will need to be comfortable thinking of new angles and stunts to raise our profile.
• To cultivate new and nurture existing media contacts
• Media train and support volunteers from the campaign
• Deputise for the campaign manager when required
• Oversee and generate fresh content for our social media channels, working alongside volunteers from the campaign
• Support with drafting copy to update our members as well as fundraising and reaching other external stakeholders when necessary
• Translate at times complicated policy lines around public health and legal processes into compelling personalised narratives for press statements and comments
Essential Experience:
• Experience of working within a busy press office environment, PR agency or as a journalist
• Proven experience of creating and implementing effective media strategies which help advance wider organisational aims and goals.
• Proven experience of proactive pitching stories in high profile media outlets that help to advance an organisations aims
• Proven experience of managing and maintaining good relationships with a variety of journalists, including national print and broadcast media, as well as political and health correspondents.
• Experience of prioritising effectively in a demanding and fast paced environment
• Excellent writing skills that can be tailored to reach a range of audiences.
• Experience of working with case studies and being sensitive and supportive to their needs
• Experience of successfully media training spokespeople
• Personal belief in and support for the aims of Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK
• An understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion
Desirable experience
• Experience of managing, creating and implementing media strategies on contested issues in a fast paced environment.

You’ll play a key role in supporting our work by ensuring smooth, high quality financial management and reporting. Working closely with the Head of GOF, you'll contribute to the success of our programmes by overseeing financial activities, audits and the improvement of financial processes.

What you’ll do:
- Lead on key financial activities, including management accounting, financial reporting, and grant audits.

What we're looking for:
