As a Ubele Programme Assistant, you will be a member of the Community Wealth Building hub supporting our Programme Manager with the Agbero2100 London programme by overseeing administrative tasks, communicating with our partners ensuring resource availability for the project team from project inception to completion.

Main duties & Responsibilities

• To act as the first point of contact for the Agbero2100 London programme, responding to and redirecting enquiries as appropriate.
• To co-ordinate the work and meetings of programme stakeholders and partners, including minute taking. 
• To ensure effective and ongoing communications with key stakeholders, maintaining their interest throughout the programme.
• To gather partner agreements, consultancy agreements, contracts and purchase orders, working closely with our finance hub to issue invoices and chase outstanding payments.
• Coordinate the programme information with stakeholders. 
• To manage programme information ensuring all data is stored and shared securely. 
• To organise events and seminars, and to draw together the contributions and outcomes from these events.  Providing support where appropriate.

DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this. 

Since 2012, we have raised more than £27 million to end the devastating impact of DMD.  We fund ground-breaking scientific research to find effective treatments. We’ve developed the infrastructure of DMD clinical trial delivery in the UK. We engage industry and regulators to accelerate access to treatments. And we’re here to support every family affected and ensure that they receive the best possible care. We aim not only to improve quality of live but stop the disease in its tracks. Alex and Emily were awarded OBEs in The King’s Birthday Honours List in 2023 in recognition of their services to charity and to people living with DMD. They, and the dedicated and effective team they have built at Duchenne UK, are now at the forefront of this work in the UK.

We have an opportunity to join our team and build on these achievements. We are recruiting for maternity cover for our Personal Assistant and Office Manager, who will be a key part of our team and play a vital role in helping us achieve our mission.

This is an all-encompassing role for an accomplished and confident Personal Assistant to support the Founders and Director of Research of an innovative and ambitious charity and oversee the management of the Duchenne UK office.

The successful candidate will be highly organised with strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide variety of individuals, internally and externally. Reliability and a can‐do, proactive attitude is a must, along with having an outstanding commitment and sense of dedication to understanding, fulfilling and anticipating the principles' and office's needs and priorities.

The Personal Assistant and Office Manager will report to the Finance Manager and work alongside the Managing Director, CEO and Director of Research and Development.

Job Description:

 Duties to include, but not limited to:

• High volume diary management, including work and personal diary prioritisation and filtering out non-essential meetings.
• Answering, screening and responding as appropriate to incoming calls, visitors and correspondence.
• Preparing for internal and external meetings, calls and video conferences including confirming relevant materials are received, printed and bound for meetings.

• Management of travel arrangements. Scheduling and tracking domestic and international travel itineraries within several time zones.
• Administration support for the research team, including arranging meetings and assisting with event and meeting organisation.

• Management of expenses including arranging currency and processing expense claims in a timely manner.
• General office management and operational support including:
  • Liaising with suppliers / brokers (e.g. internet, energy, insurance)

Role Purpose

Southwark Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship for over 1400 years. Now it stands on the vibrant and exciting regenerated south bank of the Thames surrounded by cultural venues such as Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and Borough Market, the offices of major companies as well as schools and diverse residential communities. This is a key role at Southwark Cathedral supporting the Dean. This secretarial role will primarily feature management of a busy personal diary, correspondence and broader administrative support for the Dean in his capacity as Dean of Southwark, Chair of Chapter and CEO of the Cathedral.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the coordination, preparation, planning and follow up for the Dean’s briefing for and attendance at meetings associated with the governance of the Cathedral including Chapter, Finance Committee, Audit & Risk Committee, Nominations Committee, Fabric Advisory Committee and Board of Enterprises. This will include research and assisting in the drafting and review of papers for such meetings, but minute taking will not usually be required (but may be requested from time to time in liaison with members of staff usually responsible for the minutes);
• Support the Dean in all their working relationships including building and maintaining excellent relationships with Chapter Members and Committee Members, the Bishop’s staff and with the wider Diocese, as well as with neighbours, commercial partners, professional advisers and other third-party organisations relating to the Dean’s work;

Terms and Conditions

Working Hours

The working hours shall be 21 hours per week (exclusive of meal breaks), usually over three days. Some out of hours working will be required to support meetings and events and this will be notified in advance. Time off in lieu will be awarded in line with Southwark Cathedral’s policy.

Annual Leave

20.5 days per annum including statutory bank holidays, with an additional 5 days (pro-rata) after 10 years’ service. 

Probation

The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.

Season Ticket Loan

Once the probationary period has been completed satisfactorily, the person appointed will be eligible to take out a season ticket loan.

Pension

The person appointed will be eligible to join a defined contributions pension scheme managed by the Church Workers Pension Fund. The Cathedral will contribute half of the annual premium of 10% of salary.

Working Expenses

Job summary
The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a Society of over 1,700 members from 100 countries, who work in, or are interested in tropical medicine and global health.

RSTMH organises and participates in events as a crucial way of showcasing, discussing, and debating key areas of tropical medicine and global health research and practice. Our range of events are wide. We deliver conferences and webinars, social events, research meetings for early career professionals, and high-profile debates and discussions. They happen across the UK and around the world, both online and in person. Our events add to the impact of our work in tropical medicine and global health, but also raise funds to allow us to continue our work as a charity.

The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. The role requires a self-starter who is excited by the prospect of working on such a broad range of meetings and events. The candidate needs to have excellent communication and relationship building skills, and to be organised, flexible with a great attention to detail. They should be comfortable liaising with venues for meetings space, developing budgets for events, managing logistical aspects of the events programme and setting up new events online and in person.

• Overall responsibility for the meetings and events programme meeting its financial and other goals and KPIs under the existing strategy

Fundraising Assistant

Contract: Permanent, part-time (21 hours per week)

The Role

As an Active Sports Officer, you will assist in the day-to-day operation and management of The Hub, the largest, most popular outdoor sports facility in central London.

Delivering outstanding customer service, you will create opportunities for under-represented groups to engage in sport and physical activity, generating income from sports bookings, events and fitness licensing in Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill.
