Just Homes charity are looking for a committed, enthusiastic Housekeeper & Chef to join our Men’s work team that provides help to homeless people in The London Borough of Newham, to rebuild their lives. We work with unemployed men who can access state benefits in 56 rooms spread across five sites.
First Fruit is the holding charity for Just Homes and also delivers the social enterprises providing skills opportunities for residents. They are Christian Charities which are non-denominational and inclusive, which serve people of all faiths and none with respect.
MAIN PURPOSES OF THE POST:
We provide cooked meals for our residents across the five properties dotted around Newham. The focus of your job involves:
- To cook the evening meal for our residents (maximum of 18),
- To ensure a high level of cleanliness of the hostel, specifically the commonly used areas such as the kitchen, dining, lounge, garden and staff only facilities,
- To help with the day-to-day smooth running of the men’s accommodation,
- To befriend and support clients with learning domestic skills such as cooking, cleaning, washing, shopping and in time to take up small responsibilities in the hostel.
This is a part time job, working 20 hours per week, worked at 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Your working hours will be from 2pm – 6pm.
Your annual salary will be at the rate of £12 per hour, £24,960 per annum pro-rata or an equivalent of £12,480 per year. Additional benefits include a pension scheme and 4 weeks annual leave excluding bank holidays.
The post is based at the Just Homes Charity, Wesley House, Widdin Street, E15 4RY. You may also be required to work from one of the other four of Just Homes properties within Newham.
