Job description

Ashgate Hospicecare is seeking a Director of Income Generation to provide executive leadership for their integrated fundraising and retail team, and for new business development.

Ashgate Hospicecare is well loved in the local community of North Derbyshire, not only as a provider of specialist palliative and end of life care for patients and their families, but also as a large local charity and employer. It’s also famous for its fundraising events, such as their flagship Sparkle Night Walk which attracts nearly 3000 participants.

The organisation is now looking for an entrepreneurial, inspirational leader to deliver sustainable growth year on year and to spearhead Ashgate’s commitment to grow their commercial and trading portfolio of shops and coffee shops in the region. The role will be responsible for seeding and developing innovation in fundraising and retail, and to seek out and exploit new business opportunities, including social enterprise, with the aim of growing and diversifying income.

The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience of income generation and commercial development (or evidence of transferable skills) and of achieving substantial income targets, driving growth and increasing ROI. They should also have experience of developing and prototyping new and successful income sources, alongside knowledge and understanding of a wide range of income streams. In addition, they will have strongly developed interpersonal and leadership skills that are grounded in Ashgate’s values incorporating compassion, working as a team and being respectful, open and inclusive.

The new director will be supported by a skilled leadership team and staff with a very strong fundraising and retail track record. A total of 90% of staff and volunteers who responded to a 2019 people survey stated they were satisfied with their work or volunteer experience at Ashgate.

For an informal conversation prior to applying to this role, please contact Suzie Spooner on +44 (0) 7960 932 315 or Anton Packheiser +44 (0) 7749 858597.

PLEASE NOTE: We will be shortlisting as we receive applications, so please apply early to register your interest.
