We're looking for an inspirational people person to join us as an Assistant Shop Manager in our Boutique by Shelter shop in St Johns Wood. Boutique by Shelter is a series of charity shops with interiors designed by Wayne Hemingway bringing a modern, trendy retail space to the high street. Our first boutique shop opened in Finchley Road and due to its success, we have opened a number of new shops across London. We'd like you to join us to help raise vital funds for homeless and badly housed people.

You will be pivotal in assisting the Shop Manager in leading and empowering a team of volunteers to engage with the local community on Shelter's cause, maximising the contribution of gifts of time from volunteers, the gifts of products from our donors and the gift of income from our customers. You will be the ambassador of Shelter on the high street; raising vital money for our cause. Due to the rapid expansion of Day One Trauma Support over the last three years, the charity’s infrastructure has needed to respond quickly to meet its changing demands. There is now a requirement to ensure that the Finance and Resources team has the right skill set and capacity to provide the support needed by the charity in an efficient and proactive way.

The HR Officer and Executive Assistant role is a newly created position to reflect both the growing HR needs of the charity as the workforce expands, and the executive support required by the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure the efficient and effective running of the charity. This is a key role which is instrumental in bringing the HR and organisational administration functions together at an operational level.

Reporting primarily to the Director of Finance and Resources and assisted by an external HR and Employment Law support service, this role will provide advice, guidance and support to all line managers in HR related matters whilst building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders throughout all levels of the organisation.  This will include support to ensure the efficient and effective management, monitoring and reporting of people metrics, from recruitment, development, retention through to attrition and at all stages of the employee life cycle.

The role will also provide crucial executive support to the CEO and SLT of three Directors, to ensure the smooth operation of their responsibilities and co-ordinating efforts of various parties to ensure completion of key tasks and actions.

As part of an expanding and ambitious organisation, there are considerable development opportunities for the successful candidate and the ability to help shape the infrastructure of the charity.

About you:

You will have at least 3 years’ experience of delivering HR support directly and facilitating line managers to deliver HR support.  You will have a demonstrable understanding of employment law and the practical application of this, with experience of implementing HR administration and operational best practice for example, in the areas of recruitment, capability and performance management. You will help lead in creating an atmosphere of trust and an enabling environment where staff can contribute their best and develop their potential, which is critical for Day One as a young organisation.

You will have significant experience of providing proactive and responsive administrative assistance to senior staff and demonstrable experience of developing and managing effective administrative systems.  Additionally, the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships through professional engagement and communication skills, both written and spoken, that are effective, empathetic and adaptable to different situations are key to this role.

You will be highly organised and responsive to others in a way that is both timely and professional with well-developed time management skills to manage competing priorities, ensure follow up of actions and meet deadlines whilst working under pressure. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is critical to this role, whilst maintaining strict confidentiality.

Thames Reach’s Outreach teams operate across London and helps those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond rapidly and work flexibly to reach people. Individuals are assessed to identify their support needs and support plans are created, including work to obtain identification, access health services and refer to other specialist agencies, including those offering immigration support.

We are looking for a Charity Shop Manager to cover shifts in both of the Harington Charity Shops in North London. The Charity Shop Manager (Cover) role, will be guaranteed 8.5 hours a week in our Hornsey charity shop. In addition to this there may be other variable hours over and above this, where they will be asked to provide cover when the Charity Shop Managers or Shop Assistants are on leave at either the Archway or Hornsey Charity Shops. Please note the salary is £28,598 pro rata depending on the number of hours worked. We are looking for someone who can be extremely flexible and adaptable to change. This would suit someone who is looking for extra hours of work around their other life commitments.

The Role 

Our Shop Managers have the freedom and independence to take ownership for their shop's performance, maximising profits, delivering the highest level of shop standards using their creative flair, and providing excellent quality service to our customers. They inspire and lead a diverse team of staff, volunteers and students with learning differences completing work experience in retail, creating a caring and supportive environment for people to flourish.

Our two London charity shops are vital in raising funds from the sale of pre-loved, donated stock to fund Harington's work to support young people with learning differences into employment and independence.  But they are more than just shops, they play a vital role in local communities in Hornsey and Archway, offering a warm and welcoming place for people to shop and volunteer.

Harington is an Ofsted regulated specialist college and charity based in north London, working with young people with learning differences aged 16-25. Our students undertake individualised learning programmes that lead to vocational qualifications and other aims, including gardening, retail, English, maths, employability and independent living.  We also deliver a supported internship programme.   

Our charity's learning centres in Highgate and Hornsey alongside our charity's gardening business and two charity shops, provide a unique opportunity for students to practically apply their learning on work experience placements. We also work with other employers toprovide opportunities in other settings to meet the aspirations of our students.  

This is a newly created administrative role to increase capacity in Londonwide LMCs, the membership organisation representing approximately 7,000 NHS General Practitioners in over 1,100 practice teams in London, providing pan-London leadership and shared committee services for its members. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Workforce-Training and Innovation team, which provides project management across the organisation and training for constituents across the 27 Londonwide Boroughs that make up Londonwide LMCs. The team also coordinates a range of supportive services for practices that are delivered through managed relationships with associates.

In this role, you will report to the Head of Workforce-Training and Innovation and work within the WTI team, playing an integral part in linking our work across the directorates at Londonwide LMCs and externally with our practices and constituents.

The focus of this role is to provide administrative support to the Workforce-Training and Innovation team, enabling the smooth running of projects, scheduling meetings and supporting events. It would be helpful if candidates have excellent administration and note-taking skills. We would like to hear from candidates who have experience in:

The post is contractually based at our offices located in central London near Euston, where we host quarterly connect days for all staff. The salary for the role will be £25,000 pa plus membership of the group personal pension scheme with a 16% employer pension contribution (£4,000, making total remuneration £29,000). About the role

The London Library is looking for an Acquisitions and Discovery Assistant to assist in the acquisition and management of Library E-resources and print resources.

The role includes supporting the successful acquisition and seamless delivery of electronic resources to library users, utilising and maintaining relevant library systems and records; assisting purchasing decisions and supporting licensing, ordering and payment processes; verifying access, liaising with suppliers & Library IT, and ensuring correct metadata is presented to users; plus monitoring resource use and collecting data for the evaluation of subscriptions. There is the opportunity to support membership and services, including giving tours to prospective members.

In addition to assisting with the administration of E-books, the role requires processes associated with the management of the print journal collection, including serials and donated materials, such as checking in new issues and ensuring publications are shelved correctly, applying stamps, recording invoices, recording changes in publishers' information and preparing completed volumes of serial parts for binding and checking. 

There is potential to grow and develop the role, which will join our busy Acquisitions and Discovery team and assisting with administrative tasks associated with cataloguing along with supporting the Library’s internal Digitisation processes as required.

About you

Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to get on with a wide variety of people, even under pressure, you will have proven experience of working in a Library environment and of basic clerical/administrative routines.

You will have exceptional organisation and communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and courteously, with a methodical approach to tasks, including physical duties such as shelving.
