Job description

About the role:

Join a purpose-driven organisation where your passion for finance can truly make an impact. We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to become an integral part of our dynamic Finance Team in Kings Cross. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and gain broad experience across all aspects of the organisation’s accounts, working in a supportive and collaborative environment that values growth, learning, and contribution.

In this vital role, you’ll support the Accountant and the wider Finance Team with a variety of finance-related processes and administrative tasks. Your work will include processing invoices, payments, rent receipts, and other transactions - ensuring accuracy and timeliness from the very first point of data entry. You’ll be the go-to for handling queries, maintaining records, and helping to ensure the financial data we produce is not only precise but also adds real value to decision-making across Single Homeless Project (SHP). This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality transactional data that underpins everything from day-to-day operations to strategic planning and successful financial audits.

If you're looking to grow your finance career within a forward-thinking and socially impactful organisation, this is your chance to be part of something meaningful.

About you:

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good numeracy skills and an understanding of double entry book keeping.
  • Good team player with ability to work on own initiative.
  • Demonstrable ability to use a computerised accounting system with specific ability to manage a large purchase and sales ledger.
  • Good organisational, record keeping and time management skills.

About us:

Single Homeless Project is a London-wide charity. Our vision is of a society where everyone has a place to call home and the chance to live a fulfilling life.

We help single Londoners by preventing homelessness, providing support and accommodation, promoting wellbeing, enhancing opportunity, and being a voice for change. From supporting people in crisis to helping people take the final steps towards independence and employment, we make a difference to 12,000 lives every year across all 32 boroughs.

We offer you more than a job; we offer you a chance to be part of a compassionate, driven team that's committed to making a real difference in people's lives. You'll have the opportunity to lead, co-create, and inspire change while enjoying a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Join us in creating a brighter, more hopeful future for individuals in need.

Important info:

Closing date: Sunday 22nd June at midnight

PLEASE NOTE: We will invite suitable candidates to interview as applications are received before the stated closing date above. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient and suitable applications for the role.
