We are looking for individuals to join our Board in 2025. In recent years we’ve increased and diversified the membership of the Board including the launch of our Associate Board Member programme in 2023. We are looking to continue this work with dynamic and committed people to support further growth and development, building on our achievements.
We want to recruit new Board Members, alongside an opportunity for two Associate Board Members.
Being a Board Member
Board Members play an integral role in providing robust governance and stewardship, in externally supporting future development through advocacy with regional, national and international stakeholders, potential funders and partners from the public and private sectors. Board Members benefit from working with a small, creative and enthusiastic team on the strategic development of the organisation.
What is an AND Associate Board Member?
We have developed a 12 month programme for two Associate Board Members. These roles will work alongside the AND Board of Trustees, and have been designed as a development programme aimed to support potential candidates who do not yet have (sufficient) board-level experience, or the required availability, but have the passion and potential to be a future AND Board member.
The Associate Board Member roles have been created to support individuals who are currently under-represented in the cultural sector, providing greater access to training opportunities, and to add further diversity and richness of perspective to the organisation.
Associate Board Members will:
- bring unique experience from their field of expertise
- share our passion for new ideas and artforms
- place inclusion and engagement at the heart of our culture and vision
- be provided with relevant shadowing, mentoring or training opportunities to support their skills development over 12 months
- attend quarterly AND Board meetings (without legal responsibility or voting rights)
- have the opportunity to apply to become a Board Member after 12 months
It is not necessary to have governance/board-level exposure or experience, but a general understanding of how boards work is required.

Joining the AND Board as a Trustee

Practical Details
AND’s Board currently meets for a minimum of four times a year, through a mix of online, and in person meetings in Manchester (UK). There are additional, occasional meetings and sub-committee groups which can be attended via video call. We are particularly interested in hearing from North-based candidates, especially those with regional public sector or commercial business expertise, although we are open to applications from candidates from across the UK.
This is an unpaid role. You’ll need to commit around a day a month to the role. AND will reimburse reasonable travel expenses to meetings in full.

Meetings
The Board aims to hold around four Board Meetings per year (generally 1.5 hours per meeting, although subject to change, as necessary). Meetings are usually held virtually, although we now aim to hold one in-person meeting per year, and it is expected that Board Members read the necessary board materials prior to each meeting.
Board positions carry no remuneration but travel and other out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. The Role of the Board
In line with ProVeg International's Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles, the ProVeg C.I.C. Board is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of ProVeg in the UK, and monitoring delivery by the Director and their staff. The Board members of ProVeg C.I.C play a critical role in acting as a check and balance for the organisation, giving strategic direction, and acting as a sounding board for strategy and priorities as required. Board members can typically help an organisation with their skills and experience, their networks and/or by other means. The Board member will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team of ProVeg C.I.C. and work closely and harmoniously alongside the International Board to support joined up and unified global strategic delivery of objectives.
Duties

Fitzrovia Youth in Action (FYA), a dynamic youth action charity in the heart of London, is seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees. For over 25 years, we've empowered disadvantaged young people to lead positive change, enhance their skills, and actively shape their communities in and around Camden and Westminster.
We're at an exciting point in our development, with ambitious plans outlined in our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan. Our vision is clear: a society where young people confidently fulfill their potential and actively inspire community action.
Who We're Looking For:
We're keen to welcome trustees with expertise in:
- Legal (compliance, risk management, governance)
- HR (organizational development, workforce planning)
- Business Development (expanding networks and partnerships)
- Charity Growth (program scaling, sustainability)
- Fundraising (income generation strategies)
Previous board experience is beneficial but not essential. We highly value fresh perspectives, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative spirit.
We would especially welcome applications from individuals with connections to Camden and Westminster, as these are our core areas of operation. We are also keen to hear from people from disadvantaged backgrounds, underrepresented groups, and from former users and ambassadors of FYA.
Time Commitment:
- Four Board meetings annually (1.5 hours, held in-person)
- Four Subcommittee meetings annually (1–1.5 hours, held online)
- Two strategy evenings annually (1.5–2 hours, held in-person)
Trustee terms are three years, renewable up to nine years.

Samaritans Research Ethics Board (SREB) is an independent group that provides ethical assurance of research within Samaritans. SREB aims to help ensure that any research projects and activities carried out within or on behalf of Samaritans meet the organisation’s research ethical standards, as outlined in Samaritans' Research Ethics Policy.
Samaritans is looking to appoint a new SREB member with relevant professional expertise:
"relevant academic and professional backgrounds in research related to the work of Samaritans (e.g., psychology, sociology, public health, user research, funding organisations, or national research ethics bodies) holding a postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience”.
This role is home-based; there are two meetings per year (online), in addition to 3-7 hours a month of home working. This voluntary (unpaid) role has a three-year term.

About the Community Food Hub
Our Community Food Hub is dedicated to providing nutritious food to those in need while fostering a strong sense of community. We offer a sustainable model that involves food donations, partnerships with local organisations, and volunteer-led initiatives to ensure that food insecurity is addressed effectively and with care.

Role Overview
As a Board Member, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of the food hub. Your contributions will ensure that the hub continues to support the community through partnerships, volunteer recruitment, and maximising food resources for those who need them most.
Key Responsibilities
•Strategic Input: Contribute to the overall strategic vision of the Food Hub and its programs.
•Food Systems Knowledge: Share insights on food sourcing, sustainability, and distribution to ensure the hub operates efficiently and ethically.
•Networking: Leverage your connections within the food industry, local businesses, and community organisations to secure partnerships and support for the Hub’s initiatives.
•Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement: Help recruit, train, and retain volunteers to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the hub.
•Community Outreach & Partnerships: Forge relationships with local agencies, schools, and organisations to enhance community engagement and food distribution efforts.
•Fundraising & Awareness: Support fundraising efforts by connecting the hub with donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities to sustain its operations.
•Oversight: Attend board meetings and contribute to decision-making that ensures the hub meets its goals and remains compliant with local regulations.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for individuals who have:
•Knowledge of Food Systems (e.g., food sourcing, distribution, nutrition, sustainability).
•Networking Skills: Ability to connect with local businesses, organisations, and individuals who can support the Hub.
•Experience in Partnerships: Proven ability to foster relationships with external stakeholders, including local food banks, schools, and community organisations.
•Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement: Experience in recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers.
•Interest in Community Development: Passion for making a tangible difference in addressing food insecurity and supporting community well-being.
Commitment
•Time Commitment: 6–10 hours per month (flexible)
•Location: Hybrid (Remote and in-person board meetings)
•Term: Minimum one-year commitment (renewable)
•Board meetings occur quarterly, with additional time as required for planning or networking
