Role purpose
The Fundraising Trustee will bring expertise, insight, and strategic guidance to help the charity strengthen and diversify its income. Working with the Board and staff/volunteers, they will ensure fundraising is ethical, sustainable, and aligned with the charity’s mission and values.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the overall governance of the charity as a member of the Board of Trustees.
- Provide advice and support on fundraising strategy, ensuring income generation is realistic and compliant with regulation.
- Act as a fundraising champion on HIAS+JCORE’s board, working with and supporting other trustees to explore fundraising possibilities.
- If networks for fundraising exist, use them to support the work of the charity.
- Support the development of diverse fundraising streams (e.g. individual giving, trusts and foundations, community fundraising, corporate support) and advise and support with appeals and major fundraising events/campaigns.

Trustee needed for Faith in Action Homelessness Project. We are seeking a Trustee to join our committed Board working to end homelessness in Merton.
About Us: FiA runs a twice weekly drop in for homeless and vulnerably housed people and a Winter Night Shelter which works in collaboration with faith groups including a Mosque, a Synagogue, a Hindu Temple and Christian churches to provide overnight accommodation and support to find long term housing solutions.

The London Prisons Mission is an independent charity that supports and assists multi-faith Prison Chaplaincy teams; enables volunteers to work with those in prison and leaving prison; and to inform congregations about prisoners, their families, prison staff, victims of crime and issues concerning the criminal justice system.
The Mission has gone through a period of transition and we are looking to refresh the charity’s structures and activities to make it a more effective organisation for those we seek to serve.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer Support and Recruitment:

External Networking:

Staying Informed:
- Keep up to date with developments in the criminal justice system (CJS), including reports from HM Inspectorates
Communication:
- Meet every two months with LPM support group. Share relevant information with management teams, chaplaincy teams (of all faiths), and partner churches
Relationship Building:
- Maintain contact with managing chaplains of partner prisons.
- Initiate contact with prisons which LPM might work with in the future and co-ordinate prison visits for the LPM support group
Church Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with partner churches to promote prison-related awareness and engagement within congregations
Events and Public Engagement:
- Lead on organisation of events like prisoner art shows and activities around Prisons Week
- Encourage faith communities to be more active in CJS issues
You will work with the London Prisons Mission support group on all of the above, but will be expected to take a lead on all these responsibilities delegating where necessary

About You
We are looking for a new governor with professional experience accounting or financial management. The successful candidate will become part of a Governing Body comprising 18 members, all of whom are representatives of the school, and join the school’s Finance & Resources Committee.
Time Commitment
Governors usually spend ~20 hours per term on core governing duties.
The Governing Body meets four times a year to undertake its regular duties, with occasional meetings for urgent or time critical decisions. Regular meetings currently take place on Wednesdays during term time, usually at 5/5.30pm. Governors also need to allow time to read papers and prepare for meetings.
The Girls’ School Governing Body has three sub-committees – Finance & Resources, Curriculum, and Health & Safety and Personnel. These meet at least termly.
We encourage governors to attend one governors' day per term when specific topics central to educational outcomes are highlighted for discussion with staff and students. Governors are also invited to attend public events such school play performances, music concerts and prize-giving ceremonies.

Being a Foundation Governor

The Royal Aeronautical Society is the world’s leading professional body dedicated to aerospace communities. The Society is seeking a committed volunteer with a passion for aerospace to join the Board of Trustees from May 2026. As a Trustee, you will play a strategic role in the charity’s governance and help the Society to meet its charitable objects - the advancement of aeronautical art, science, and engineering around the world.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Board of Trustees seeks to ensure that it has the skills, experience, diversity of thought and perspective to draw upon in its governance and decision-making roles. Trustees are expected to allocate time to reviewing papers and should actively participate in meetings by leading discussions, focusing on key issues and providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, to ensure that the Society continues to meet the needs of its members through financial sustainability and adherence to its charitable objects.
Trustees must exercise their powers in strict accordance with the charity’s governing documents (i.e. Royal Charter, By-Laws and Regulations). The duties of a Trustee are as follows:

Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing documents, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy

Time commitment
As a member of the Board of Trustees, the appointed individual will be required to attend 4 meetings in a calendar year (usually held on a Monday in March, June, September and November), with each meeting lasting up to 2.5 hours. Trustees should prepare in advance of meetings. Meetings are usually hybrid.
In addition, Trustees will be expected from time to time to engage with Society staff, as well as to devote appropriate preparation time ahead of each engagement. Trustees are expected to meet any additional time commitment that is reasonable (with a further call for commitment from Committee Chairs to fulfil those roles).
This is a voluntary position, and no remuneration is offered. The Society will, however, reimburse all reasonable ‘out of pocket’ expenses for attendance at meetings.

We are currently recruiting a Safeguarding officer to join our people team in the UK.
This is a remote/homebased long-term volunteer position that will be part of the core team at Roots Academy, and we are looking for someone that can volunteer approximately 3-8 hours per week.

Roots Academy provides structured and transformative Islamic education that speaks directly to the needs and challenges of young Muslims today, delivered in an engaging and accessible form that removes barriers to access and provokes thought and action. About The Role
The Safeguarding Officer will work with the People Team Lead and the Trustee Board in ensuring that appropriate arrangements are in place for keeping students, volunteers and team members safe at Roots Academy.
You will promote the safety and welfare of young people involved in Roots Academy’s activities at all times.
Key tasks
- Support with developing, reviewing and implementing Roots Academy’s safeguarding policies and procedures: ensuring all safeguarding issues concerning students and volunteers who take part in Roots Academy’s activities are responded to appropriately.
- Make sure that everyone working or volunteering at Roots Academy, including the board of trustees, understands the safeguarding policy and procedures and knows what to do if they have concerns about a student or volunteer’s welfare.
- Develop and deliver safeguarding training.
- Make sure students and young people who are involved in activities at Roots Academy know who they can talk to if they have a welfare concern and understand what action the organisation will take in response.
- Receive and record information from anyone who has concerns about a student or volunteer who takes part in Roots Academy’s activities.
- Responding to information that may constitute a safeguarding concern, including a concern that an adult involved with Roots Academy may present a risk to children or young people. This includes:
a. assessing and clarifying the information
b. making referrals to statutory organisations as appropriate
c. consulting with and informing the relevant members of the organisation’s management
d. following the organisation’s safeguarding policy and procedures.
- Liaise with, pass on information to and receive information from statutory agencies such as the police. This includes making formal referrals to agencies when necessary.
- Store and retain safeguarding records according to legal requirements and the organisation’s safeguarding policy and procedures.
- Work closely with the board of trustees the People Team Lead to ensure they are kept up to date with safeguarding issues and are fully informed of any concerns about organisational safeguarding practice.
- Report regularly to the board of trustees on issues relating to safeguarding, to ensure that safeguarding is seen as an ongoing priority issue and that safeguarding requirements are being followed at all levels of the organisation.
What we’re looking for
- The Safeguarding Officer must have received relevant safeguarding training
- Experience as a qualified social worker or safeguarding lead desirable
- Understanding of safeguarding in further education desirable
- Strong understanding of Islam and the Muslim community essential

Governing bodies are responsible for the strategic management of a school and will make decisions about a wide range of issues

The governing body is usually split in to a small number of committees, each responsible for one area such as finance or pupil achievement. A school governing body is made up of representatives from the school, the parents, the local authority and the local community.
What are we looking for?
You don’t need any specific skills or experience to be a school governor. You must be over 18, but you don’t need to be a parent or have experience working in education. Often, it’s the outside perspective you can bring that a school needs.
Professional experience in areas such as HR, finance, law, or project management are all useful to a school. But soft skills such as leadership, communication, and problem solving are also great additions.
What difference will you make?
Governors make decisions that affect schools for years to come. Our recent impact survey found that our volunteers bring £9.9 million worth of value to schools each year, and 9/10 volunteers would recommend being a governor to a friend.
As a governor, you can visit the school to gain an understanding of the culture and ethos and to get the most out of the role. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet children, parents, and teachers, and see the impact of your work first-hand.
