DOTWUK have a fun and friendly finance team in a small, but high-performing function and are looking for a collaborative, experienced and energetic leader for the role of Head of Finance. 

In this exciting role, the successful candidate will provide the organisation with a timely, accurate and relevant financial management service by assuming day-to-day responsibility for the organisation’s accounting function, to enable the senior management team and the Board of Trustees to assess results and performance and make informed, strategic decisions, and ensure the organisation complies with statutory and corporate regulation and requirements. 

You will work closely with the treasurer, directors and managers to enable them to manage their programme finances and support them to report to donors and to devise sound plans for growth and sustainability. 

The UK chapter expects to grow income across all sources, including from institutions and foundations. You will play a critical role in maintaining and building on this success. 

You will also be responsible for and provide input from a financial and management perspective on strategic development and the general organisation-wide structure and management as part of the Senior Management Team.

Job purpose

This is a pivotal senior administration role in a charity that is passionate about making a difference to the veterinary care that animals receive. You’ll be working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, with the trustee board and with all members of the staff team of about 20 people. The role is responsible for co-ordinating essential governance activities, including preparing, collating and distributing meeting information packs, writing minutes and managing actions following trustee and committee meetings. You’ll also provide diary management support to the Chief Executive and carry out a varied range of administrative tasks – from arranging team meetings to organising the charity’s award and grant-giving programmes.

Responsibilities

Governance and executive support

• Provide administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer, including proof reading and formatting documents, diary management, coordinating meetings and production of agendas and minutes
• Take minutes for trustee board and committee meetings, and any other meetings as requested by the Chief Executive Officer
• Organise in-person and virtual trustees meeting as well as other governance meetings as required
• Work with the trustees, Chief Executive Officer, RCVS finance team and legal advisors, ensuring legal returns and RCVS Knowledge governing documents are in order and submitted in good time to Companies House and the Charity Commission
• Maintain declaration of interest documentation and ensure that governance and compliance-related records are up-to-date
• Own the charity’s policy register, ensuring all policies are reviewed regularly and are up to date
• Carry out finance administration for the Senior Team as required, including purchasing items, collating receipts, assigning budget codes, and processing expense claims for trustees
• Provide administrative support around donations and gifts-in-will
• Manage the diary of the Chief Executive Officer, including arranging travel and accommodation when necessary

Project support

• Organise RCVS Knowledge awards (Plowright Prize, Quality Improvement Awards, Antimicrobial Stewardship Awards, etc.), including liaising with award panels, processing applications, and administration around the review and identification of award winners
• Arrange associated meetings and events for the awards

General administration

• Act as the first point of contact for RCVS Knowledge, monitoring generic inboxes and taking phone calls as required
• Manage the administrative functions of the office, for example arranging guest access for visitors when required and administering and dealing with room bookings
• Maintain and develop administrative systems, such as record management and document control
• Update records on our customer relationship management (CRM) system
• Organise and schedule meetings and awaydays, including setting the agenda and taking minutes
• Support the recruitment of new staff, including training and induction
• Provide administrative and project support to the wider RCVS Knowledge team as required

Parents 1st UK is dedicated to enabling quality peer support to flourish during pregnancy, birth and beyond. The evidence is clear - effective and sustainable peer support nurtures the emotional wellbeing of mothers, fathers, partners, and babies, and builds strengths in communities. We work both locally and nationally to achieve this aim.

Our national work: Through an ‘open source’ online community platform, we provide all the resources necessary to set up a perinatal peer support initiative. Freely sharing all the tools that our local programme (Parents 1st Essex) uses in daily practice, from budget setting to volunteer training guides and impact tracking. Working with commissioners and providers, Parents 1st UK also provides consultancy and workshops to help build new perinatal peer support initiatives in communities.

Our local work: Parents 1st Essex currently operates in South and North Essex, delivering perinatal peer support to parents, through 1-1 or group support. Peer supporters engage and develop trusting relationships with parents during pregnancy, continue support through birth and the first few months afterwards.

Alongside this, Parents 1st UK also leads the Essex Peer to Parent Network, a peer support collaborative that aims to develop a hub of good practice across Essex. The Peer to Parent Network employs 4 Peer Support Link Workers who work alongside the local maternity units in Essex, helping parents to access peer support during pregnancy or anytime during the first year after birth.

As the Governance Manager and Board Secretary, you'll oversee the governance, documentation, and implementation processes of an institution. Collaborating with the Company Secretary as needed, you'll manage secretarial tasks and coordinate meetings for the Board, Council, and General Meetings.

About the role

The St Pancras Community Association (SPCA) is a charity delivering high quality services for Camden residents, especially the lively and diverse community of the St Pancras and Somers Town ward. As the Director of SPCA you will lead and guide a highly skilled and motivated team to make the SPCA a community hub and a centre of excellence which has a positive impact on the lives of local residents.

We are looking for a Head of Resources to join our team.

Emmaus Bristol is a local charity, working to help people out of homelessness. The work we do here changes lives.

This is a new role for Emmaus Bristol. Through our five-year-planning process we identified a new staffing
structure that will allow our charity to thrive and to grow. The Head of Resources is needed so that the core organisation runs smoothly, and policies, processes and systems allow the team to do their jobs efficiently and effectively. This will be crucial as we develop new streams of work, and help more people out of homelessness or into work.

The Head of Resources therefore, will have a key role to play in making Emmaus Bristol an effective charity.

This is a senior leadership role, but as we are a small charity, all roles are somewhat hands-on. You’ll need to be as confident discussing our reserves policy with trustees, as you would be resolving a cash discrepancy with a retail team member, and just as good at strategy as you are at detail.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

We are seeking an experienced and influential leader to join us as our new Chief Executive.  You will play a critical role in leading the organisation and representing PATA and its members in the ever-evolving Early Education and Children’s Play sectors.

PATA is the largest voluntary sector provider of support to the Early Years and Play (Out of School) sector in Gloucestershire.  We are a Charity based in Gloucester with around 170 member settings and manage five of our own Early Years settings (PATA Managed Groups (PMGs)).  Our mission is to support the development of high quality and accessible early education, play and provision for children, young people and their families.

At its heart, PATA is a people-based organisation and you will be joining a strong and committed team, both in the Head Office and the PMGs.  You will lead the organisation, working with the Board of Trustees in setting the strategic vision, mission and priorities.  You will be a voice for PATA and its members, building partnerships, participating in consultation processes, and challenging policy and other initiatives for the benefit of the sector, as and when appropriate.

The role is part time, 21 hours per week, 42 weeks annually, to be worked flexibly to meet business need, as agreed with the Chair of Trustees and in association with the Senior Management Team. There is flexibility for this to be a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days based from the Head Office in Gloucester.

Knowsley Carers Centre, a network partner of the Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice, and a voice for carers living and caring in the Borough of Knowsley.

Knowsley Carers Centre is a growing charity, established in ~October 1997 to support the borough's 16000 unpaid/family carers.

A highly motivated and experienced person is required to raise awareness of the issues unpaid carers face with staff from the health and social care sectors.

Proven experience of the sector and an understanding of unpaid carers’ issues are essential along with the ability to work independently.

Job purpose

The purpose of the role is to raise awareness of the issues carers and young carers face and the services available to support them to health and social care staff across the borough and promote the identification and support of hidden carers in Knowsley.

The Health Link Worker will provide a conduit between Knowsley Carers Centre, health and social care teams and appropriate networks and forums that support carers’ interests.

Job Description

The Health Link Worker will:

• Provide information for and about carers and young carers to GP practices and health and social care teams.
• Assist in maintaining carers’ information boards in GP practices and at other health and social care locations.
• Continue to promote good practice guidance and steer relevant personnel at GP practices and other health settings through the guidance framework.
• Provide presentations, training and talks to health and social care staff on carers needs and include all aspects of caring within the awareness raising.
• Raise carer awareness in hospitals and develop carer friendly processes.
• Encourage carer participation on forums, groups and boards.
• Network with relevant organisations to raise awareness of carers issues.
• Assist in the delivery of carer awareness training in partnership with other members of the team.
• Work closely with other organisations such as Healthwatch.

Your Role

You will be responsible for No Limits’ finances, leading on strategic and operational financial management of the charity and preparing and analysing information relating to financial planning. You will have oversight of the finance team, leading No Limits to be a sustainable and efficient organisation.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will make an active contribution to the strategic direction, planning and leadership of No Limits in collaboration with the wider team. You’ll be a role model for our values and ensure the needs of children and young people are at the heart of everything we do.

There may be opportunity to provide strategic leadership oversight to our wider organisational infrastructure functions including IT, Business Support, Fundraising and Communications.

You’ll have the essentials of: 

• qualified accountant (CIMA / CIPFA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent) – consideration may be given to part-qualified with relevant experience
• Strategic and operational financial management experience, including; financial process, income and expenditure management, reporting, year-end, audit, statutory and management account production, establishing and monitoring effective financial controls
• An understanding of the charity environment and wider landscape
• Experience of costing projects with a full-cost recovery approach
• Ability to plan and prioritise own and others work to set deadlines, with good time management skills
• High level of IT competency to support your role, including the use of technology and Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and team working
• A commitment to personal growth, continuous development, and application of learning

You may also have:

• Up-to-date knowledge of charity SORP regulations and requirements (highly desirable)
• Experience of payroll and pensions
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop people
• A successful track record of working with a Trustee Board or a leadership team
