The Equal Rights Trust is looking for a Research and Collaboration Coordinator to help us as we work to support those working on the frontlines of the fight against discrimination.
About the Equal Rights Trust
At the Equal Rights Trust, our vision is an equal world: a world in which everyone – irrespective of their identity, status or beliefs – can participate in every area of life on an equal basis. We work towards this vision by addressing one of the root causes of inequality: discrimination. We do this through the law. Our mission is to work in partnership to support the development, adoption, implementation and use of equality laws.
In 2023, following consultation with equality activists, academics and advocates across the globe, we launched our new strategic plan, Equal in Dignity: Equal in Rights. This plan sees us focus on addressing four “gaps” which prevent the realisation of the rights to equality and non-discrimination. Now, we’re working with the UN Human Rights Office to support equality movements in places like Armenia, Brazil and Korea as they work to secure the adoption of new equality laws. With academics and other experts, we’re driving legal innovation, examining how to improve the implementation of equality laws and how to develop equality law in response to emerging challenges, such as the growing use of AI and the climate crisis. And we’re supporting other civil society organisations to use equality law and integrate an equality by design approach in their work.

About us
City Bridge Foundation is a charity set up around 900 years ago for the maintenance of the old London Bridge. Through bridge tolls, rents, bequests and charitable donations, along with sensible investment and management, the fund has grown over the years and now has total assets of around £1.6 billion.
Our primary aim remains to maintain our five bridges – Tower, London, Southwark, Millennium and Blackfriars bridges – but since 1995 we have also used surplus funds to award grants to charitable organisations across Greater London.
We currently award over £30 million to charities across the capital and have made a further £200 million available in the five years to 2026 to support London’s charity sector.
City Bridge Foundation is the working name of the historic Bridge House Estates. From 1995 to September 2023 our charity funding team was known as City Bridge Trust. In September 2023, our bridges and charity funding teams were brought together under a new name – City Bridge Foundation.
Our sole trustee is the City of London Corporation – the governing body for the Square Mile. Members of the Court of Common Council – the City Corporation’s primary decision-making body – form the City Bridge Foundation Board which governs our activities.

We support pragmatic, sustainable, and long-lasting work rooted in science and community involvement. WFN also raises awareness of the serious problems facing wildlife, landscapes, climate, and people, through promoting the work of winners. We focus support on nationals (leaders who were either born in the country where they work or have gained nationality) and aim to help build the capacity of successful local NGOs and grassroots work. We fund mainly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America where income is often hardest to access and can have the biggest impact for people and biodiversity. Our funding is raised each year, mainly from family foundations and trusts, as well as from individuals, corporates, and international NGOs, with a current annual income of £2.6m/year. WFN is governed by a committed trustee board. Our team is dynamic, passionate about our mission and ambitious. The charity benefits from high profile support from Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, and Ambassadors Sir David Attenborough, Kate Humble, Tom Heap, and Alastair Fothergill. Following the charity’s 30th anniversary in 2023, and in line with our ambition to raise £3m/year by 2025, we are expanding our team to increase the amount of support we can provide to our growing network of conservationists around the world and tell their stories.

We are now seeking to expand the team in line with our activities by recruiting a Communications Assistant to maintain and grow the organisation’s online communications across digital and social media platforms and support the team with office administration and event organisation. The post-holder should be keen to make a difference by working in a small team across an impactful organisation.
