- Attending quarterly board meetings
- Reading board materials in advance and actively participating
- Contributing to DFY’s strategic direction and key decisions

Join our Trust with a unified vision for educational excellence as a Trustee and influence how our schools operate, improve and evolve.
Location: Hybrid / Peterborough and North Cambridgeshire
Time commitment: 4 board meetings + 3 committee meetings / year
Closing date: 9 a.m. Monday 9th June
Thomas Deacon Education Trust (TDET) is a thriving multi-academy trust serving over 5,500 pupils across seven academies, including primary, secondary, all-through and alternative provision schools. We are proud of our strong community focus and the work we do to empower communities through high-quality education across Peterborough and North Cambridgeshire.
We are now seeking passionate, high-calibre individuals to join our Board of Trustees, particularly those with expertise in finance and estates/infrastructure.
These are key appointments at a time of strategic transformation and increasing operational efficiency. You’ll help shape the future of our Trust, support the executive team and ensure we continue delivering high-quality education for all children and young people across our diverse communities.
Who we are
Our Trust was established to bring together local schools under a unified vision for educational excellence, community service and sustainable growth. We currently operate seven schools — five in Peterborough and two to the south in Cambridgeshire — across primary, secondary, all-through and alternative provision settings.
We have matured as an organisation, embedding centralised services (HR, IT, Estates, Finance), promoting stronger curriculum alignment across schools and building a sense of collective identity. Like all multi-academy trusts, we continue to face challenges, especially around funding, SEND provision and estate management, however, we remain committed to progress. All of our schools have been inspected in the last three years, and our improvement journey is well underway.
Our governance model is evolving. We’re reintroducing two subcommittees — Education Committee and Finance, Audit and Risk Committee — in 2025/2026. Trustees meet three times per year for full board meetings and three times for the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and Education Committee.
Our high-performing board currently has a strong educational presence, with trustees drawn from school and higher education backgrounds. However, we are thin on numbers and underrepresented in critical areas.
Now, we are particularly seeking individuals from finance, business services and estates sectors to strengthen our ability to challenge, support and guide the Trust as it enters its next phase.
We do not stand still as a Trust. Our new Trustees will join at an exciting time as we undergo new complex estates projects (e.g., a multimillion-pound roof repair at Thomas Deacon Academy), evolving community partnerships and growing cross-trust collaboration. We are ready for the next step, and we need exceptional trustees to help lead the way.
About the role
As a Trustee, you will play a key role in the strategic leadership and governance of the Trust. This is a high-impact, voluntary role with real influence over how our schools operate, improve and evolve. Your focus will be to ensure that the Trust is delivering on its educational mission while remaining financially sustainable and operationally sound.
We are particularly looking to appoint individuals to:
- Join the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee or Education Committee
- Provide strategic and technical oversight of finance, audit, or capital/infrastructure projects
- Chair the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, if suitably experienced
You’ll be part of a collaborative, values-driven board that works closely with a dedicated executive team. Your insights will help guide decisions around budget setting, estates investment, compliance and educational outcomes. You’ll need to commit to regular reading of board papers, engage in meaningful discussion at meetings and support the executive team with scrutiny and challenge.
Meetings are a mix of online and in-person formats, with the flexibility to accommodate professional commitments. While we have a strong preference for candidates based in or connected to Peterborough or Cambridgeshire, we are open to outstanding individuals from further afield who share our mission and can commit the necessary time and attention.
The role is voluntary, but the impact is profound: you’ll be helping shape the education, life chances and wellbeing of thousands of young people across the region.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking candidates with a passion for education and a deep commitment to public service. Your professional background might be in finance, audit, capital projects, or estates management, ideally with experience overseeing budgets, risk, or infrastructure in complex organisations.
We’re especially interested in individuals who can bring:
- Finance expertise (accounting, audit, financial oversight)
- Capital or estates experience (infrastructure, property, construction)
- Leadership experience within high-accountability or regulatory environments
- Strategic mindset, with the ability to interpret data, challenge assumptions and support sound decision-making
We would also value:
- Familiarity with multi-academy trusts or the Academy Trust Handbook
- Experience chairing audit or governance committees
- Links to our local communities in Peterborough and South Cambridgeshire
Equally important is who you are as a person: communicative, thoughtful, committed and unafraid to ask the difficult questions. We’re looking for trustees who bring a mix of professionalism and heart, who care deeply about equity, diversity and inclusive education and who want to make a tangible difference.
We are committed to building a board that reflects the rich diversity of our schools and their communities.
If you want to be part of a Trust that’s ambitious, community-rooted and on a clear improvement trajectory, then we would love to hear from you.
Peridot and Thomas Deacon Education Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and our client expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references before any final offer can be made.
Do you have proven experience in the charity sector, preferably at senior level? Would you like to make a positive, impactful difference to the lives of our vulnerable clients by using your skills?
What will you be doing?
We're looking for passionate and committed people to join our Board of Trustees! Ashford Place is a thriving forty-year old charity based in NW London, making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals. From one-on-one guidance to engaging group activities, we focus on building resilience and improving well-being in our community. As a trustee, you'll help guide our work and ensure we remain strong and sustainable, especially during these challenging times. It’s a chance to be part of something meaningful, shaping our future while helping us continue to provide vital support in London NW2.
What are we looking for?
- Proven experience in the charity sector, preferably at senior level.
- Commitment to, and an enthusiasm for, our mission and values.
- Skills in governance, finance, legal, fundraising, risk management, and/or advocacy.
- Understanding of trustee responsibilities, including financial oversight and strategic planning.
- Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills.
- Solutions driven
- Available
What difference will you make?
As a valued member of our board, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our vision, steering our strategic direction, and driving the success of our mission. In an increasingly competitive charitable world, your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our community.
As a local charity, a significant proportion of our funding is derived from partnerships with statutory organizations. We are seeking a trustee who can strengthen our engagement within this sector, increasing our meaningful connections and identifying opportunities to secure vital funding. Your efforts will enable us to sustain and expand our impact, ensuring we can continue delivering essential services to those who rely on our work.

About Leeds Hospitals Charity
Leeds Hospitals Charity is the charity partner of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We champion, support and gives thanks to our NHS, bringing together thousands of donors so we can make a real difference to the people and patients of Yorkshire. We do this by funding life-saving equipment, treatments, research into rare diseases and home comforts – whatever will make the biggest impact to the people who need it most.
We are passionate about healthcare and about making our hospitals amazing – our vision is to make Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust to be the best hospital, in the healthiest city in the UK.
Each year we award grants of around £4 million to support the innovative work of our hospitals. Our most recent fundraising appeal, for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND, will see a brand new, purpose-built care centre be opened at Seacroft Hospital in late 2025, transforming care for patients with motor neurone disease and their families.
People are central to everything we do here and we pride ourselves on Leeds Hospitals Charity being an organisation that is a friendly, diverse and welcoming place to work. Our core values of ‘together, transparent and transform’ underpin all of our work and ensures that we are impact driven, working hard to benefit patients, families and NHS staff.
Our Trustees
Leeds Hospitals Charity (Registered charity no. 1170369). has a fully independent Board of Trustees, who are also appointed as Directors of Leeds Hospitals Charity (Company Number 10492128), which is incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 as a private company. We also have a separate trading subsidiary, LHC Enterprise Limited (Company Number 13438357), with its own Directors.

Commitment
This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Trustees are expected to be able to commit around 12 days a year, for committee meetings, Board meetings and development days.
We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds and flexibility is offered to those candidates who may have caring responsibilities.

· Support and provide advice on the Charity’s purpose, vision, goals, and activities.

· Contribute to regular reviews of the Charity’s own governance.
· Attend meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
· Contribute to the broader promotion of the Charity’s objects, aims and reputation by utilising your skills, expertise, knowledge, and contacts.
The successful person will:
· Bring relevant experience from their own professional sector, with some additional knowledge of the third sector.
· Be constructively challenging and attentive to detail.
· Be able to use their independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to protect the Charity’s best interests.
· Have an interest in health-related charity issues or prior Trustee experience (although these are not essential)
How to apply:
Applications should consist of a full Curriculum Vitae detailing experience and relevant qualifications, accompanied by a covering letter describing briefly how candidates meet the recruitment criteria, why the appointment is of interest and what they believe they can bring to the role. If candidates wish, these may be reflected in a video (no more than three minutes long) rather than in writing.
Applications should be emailed to Helen McDougall by the closing date. Email details can be found in the Trustee Information Pack on our website. Interested candidates are also welcome to visit the Charity’s offices, at Leeds General Infirmary, on 22nd May 2025, to find out more about the role and meet the Executive Team in advance of the closing date. Join the Public Law Project as a Trustee and support us as we enter our new strategic phase, championing justice, fairness in state decision-making and upholding the rule of law.
Location: The Design Works, 93-99 Goswell Road, London, EC1V 7EY
Time commitment: Approx. one day per month
Closing date: Monday 23rd June
The Public Law Project (PLP) is seeking a dynamic and committed individual to join our Board of Trustees. As a Trustee, you will play a pivotal role in guiding an organisation dedicated to promoting access to justice, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring fair systems for everyone.
Who we are
For over 30 years, PLP has been at the forefront of public law in the UK, empowering individuals and organisations to challenge unlawful public decision-making. PLP works to ensure that the state acts fairly and lawfully, particularly when making decisions that impact marginalised and disadvantaged people. We bring strategic litigation, conduct groundbreaking research, and provide training to build expertise in public law. Our recent work includes challenging the Rwanda immigration policy, advocating for Windrush survivors, and scrutinising government use of AI and automation in decision-making.
Our work encompasses Strategic Litigation; we represent and support individuals and communities who are marginalised through discrimination or disadvantage when they have been affected by unlawful state decision-making. Our Research and Policy Advocacy is led by our expert team, which conducts in-depth research to inform policy and practice, ensuring that public law remedies and access to justice are not undermined. We provide Training and Events to build expertise in public law among lawyers, advisers, NGOs and public bodies. We work extensively in alliance with and support of people and communities who are minoritised and discriminated against.
PLP has been instrumental in shaping the public law landscape in Britain and as we embark on a new strategic phase, we are looking for a new Trustee to join our Board. We are developing a new strategy to counter emerging challenges, such as the rise of popularism and the misuse of AI in government decision-making. Your insights and leadership will be crucial in shaping PLP’s future direction and impact.
Recent successes, such as our High Court victory over the Department for Work and Pensions’ unlawful consultation on disability benefit reforms, potentially negatively affecting 400,000 people demonstrate the tangible impact of our work. Joining now offers the opportunity to build on these achievements and drive systemic change at a time when rights are under threat, and state accountability is undermined.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a Trustee who is a strategic thinker, can work well with others while confidently holding their ground, and are skilled in providing both support and constructive challenge to executive leadership. Effective communication, emotional intelligence, and the ability to foster a positive and effective board dynamic are essential. We are looking for someone with expertise in Marketing and Communications, or Fundraising and Philanthropy, particularly in mid-level or major donor fundraising and income diversification.
Time commitment
The role requires a commitment of approximately one day per month, including attendance at four Board meetings per year (held in London or remotely) plus a development or strategy away-day, participation in committees of the Board or working groups, and engagement with PLP’s activities and events from time to time.
Joining the Public Law Project (PLP) as a Trustee offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on fairness and justice in the UK. As a trustee, you’ll contribute to an organisation nationally recognised for its dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring fair public decision-making. Collaborating with a diverse and dedicated group of trustees and staff, you’ll help shape PLP’s future direction, strengthening our governance, fundraising efforts and strategic initiatives.
We’re an executive search firm working across third sector, education and membership sectors to transform leadership and inspire change.
