Across the UK, bladder sufferers are being left behind. 6% of women in England suffer with Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). 25% of all antibiotic prescriptions are for UTIs. Waiting times to see a Urologist stretch up to 12 months. Post-COVID, continence clinics have been cut, GP access is harder than ever, and too many people are left feeling dismissed, misdiagnosed, or even medically gaslit.

What will you be doing?
Responsibilities (specific to your role):
- Establish a marketing strategy, offering leadership, guidance and support, in particular in the realm of social media, with the aim of helping to raise the charity’s profile and increasing donations, ensuring that the strategy aligns with NCFB’s overall goals and values.
- Take responsibility for ensuring the charity's marketing activities comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Take responsibility for the annual review of relevant policies, such as the social media policy.
- Manage any risks associated with marketing activities, including conflicts of interest, and ensure the charity's reputation is protected.
- Trustees have a responsibility to scrutinize the marketing budget and ensure that marketing activities are properly funded and monitored.
- Play a key role in ensuring the charity's marketing activities are conducted ethically and in accordance with all legal requirements and in line with NCFB’s overall goals and values.
- Follow and actively engage with the charity’s social media accounts.
- Maintain a good understanding of online threats, such as trolling, deepfakes and misinformation, and how these should be managed.
- Trustees may be involved in representing the charity at events or speaking to donors and the public.
Responsibilities (common to all trustees):
- Collaborate with the trustee board to ensure that North Cotswold Foodbank’s financial dealings are systematically accounted for and on time, independently examined and made publicly available when necessary.
- Ensure your charity is accountable, actively complying with statutory accounting and reporting requirements and the law.
- Ensure appropriate financial plans are in place for future budget allocations as well as looking after contractual agreements with external partners that award money for core costs and additional projects.
- Ensure that North Cotswold Foodbank has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equal opportunities, safeguarding & GDPR compliance/data protection etc.
- Act with reasonable care and skill, giving your time, thought and energy to your role.
- Give good counsel and measured advice on any matter that requires it, acting in a collaborative, positive, and constructive way.
What are we looking for?
North Cotswold Foodbank seeks someone with senior-level experience of marketing, and in particular, social media marketing. Our ideal candidates would demonstrate:
- Experience of working with the media (in particular in the realm of social media) and contacts within media organisations and/or agencies.
- A robust knowledge of contemporary IT, systems, and data management.
- An ability to lead on any matters relevant to your role.
- The ability to provide carefully considered advice in a constructive way.
- A knowledge of, and commitment to, the work of North Cotswold Foodbank and Trussell.
- Sympathy towards the ethos and principles of Trussell.
- An understanding of the reasons why people face hunger, food insecurity, and/or food poverty.

About us
Set up in 2003, the Mustard Tree Foundation (Reading), known as The Mustard Tree, is a charity where we are passionate that every individual has the opportunity to thrive. Our vision is to develop the work we do in Reading, identifying unmet needs and innovating and growing projects which support individuals who are marginalised and facing disadvantage, delivering high-impact services to some of Reading’s most underrepresented people. As a charity with a Christian ethos, the projects we generate are inspired by our faith and are thus are designed to serve all sections of our diverse community.
We are an incorporated charity, with a financial turnover in 2024 of £335k. Our three focused projects: Engage, Rahab and Starting Point, all support different communities, whilst linked to our common vision.
The role and what we are looking for in a new trustee
Trustees are the people who make the top-level decisions for our charity. Our Board includes people with experience and skills in our work and we’d expect new trustees to have strong empathy with our cause and with the needs of our beneficiaries.
You don’t necessarily need prior experience of charity trusteeship, although that would be welcome. You need to have a Christian faith and participate with us in prayer.
We are especially looking for people with skills and understanding of financial management in a not-for-private-profit context; a grasp of fundraising strategy; or understanding of HR management and compliance, but we don’t expect you to have all three of those abilities!
If you can think strategically and plan long-term, you have the primary skills needed by our trustees; you’ll also need to be able to work collectively with other Board members. Support from our paid employees is always available, as they will be dealing with the day-to-day running of the organisation.
We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles to governing our organisation. We are looking for people from a variety of backgrounds to join our charity. We want to expand the diversity of our board, in all meanings of the word, and strongly welcome applications from people from less-represented groups.
We ask for at least five hours of your time per month, which includes all meetings, discussions, etc. You will need access to digital communications, as much of our charity’s business is run that way.

Social anxiety involves an excessive fear of social situations. Sufferers will often fear being embarrassed or worry about being negatively evaluated by others. Anticipatory anxiety and situational avoidance are common, and individuals may endure social situations with a high level of discomfort. The scope of the anxiety may be focused on specific types of social situations or generalised to almost any social encounter.

About the role
We are seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals to become members of the Finance Sub-Committee of our Board of Trustees. As a member of this group, you will offer strategic financial advice to our Board of Trustees and to our Provincial Team - the canonical leadership team of our province of Central Europe and the Islands. - Time commitment and practicalities
Time commitment: the equivalent of circa 1 day per month
Trustees serve a three-year term and can be re-elected. The Board meets five times annually, complemented by two strategy days typically held in or around London. Most trustees sit on one committee, which usually meets quarterly.
The role requires approximately the equivalent of circa a day a month, including preparation for meetings, reading time, and ad hoc conversations with board members and the executive team, with a willingness to travel throughout the UK from time to time.

About the opportunity
We are seeking committed vegetarians or vegans to join our volunteer board of trustees. Vegetarian for Life (VfL) is the only UK charity specifically dedicated to supporting older vegetarians and vegans. We believe that all older people should be able to maintain their chosen diet and lifestyle and enjoy good quality plant-based food wherever they live.
Our trustees work with the CEO to ensure strong governance and help realise the strategic aims of this unique and growing charity. Since its formation in 2007, VfL has earned widespread respect for its advocacy, training, and resources that support dignity and choice in later life.
In line with our new Vision for 2030, we are looking to strengthen our board with a new trustee who brings experience of business development, marketing and income generation gained (most likely) from the Private Sector. We are particularly interested in individuals with proven experience in:

- Generating income from new streams and commercial partnerships
- Developing and marketing new products and services

The role of trustee is a voluntary one, with expenses paid when incurred in connection with the role.
