To act as an enthusiastic ambassador for the charity; building strong relationships across a variety of networks to support and develop the public presence of the charity and community fundraising income. The role may involve evening and weekend working to support community fundraising activities and events, and working hours are flexible to reflect this.

Key Duties

Fundraising:

• Be the primary point of contact for new and existing supporters.
• Proactively look for opportunities to support and develop local fundraising initiatives.
• Develop and deliver a varied range of fundraising activities to a range of audiences, including events and campaigns.
• Act as an ambassador for the charity with local community groups and organisations.
• Work with the wider team to develop relationships with local businesses and corporate partners.
• Work to set targets and generate income. Work with the wider team to recruit and support local fundraising volunteers.
• Maintain up to date records of communication with funders; income generated and how this compares to budget.
• Keep up to date with the latest fundraising trends, regulations and news.

Marketing & Communications:

• Develop the charity’s public presence and brand.
• Produce marketing materials to represent the charity and its projects, including online newsletters, print media and merchandise.
• Manage the charity’s digital content including social media channels and website.
• Support with e-commerce and support the enterprise team to maximise opportunities.
• Represent the organisation at networking events, meetings and other outside events, as necessary.

Other:

• Supporting other members of the team to deliver activities; including, but not limited to, activity days and evening clubs.
• To help develop new and innovative ideas to help our target groups and meet our charitable objectives.
• To carry out any other duties within the general scope of the post, as directed by your line manager/the Co-Directors.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Have a sound education to A-level standard or equivalent.

Experience:

• Experience of supporting community fundraisers; have a good understanding of community and events fundraising and supporter care.
• Experience of developing marketing materials in a variety of mediums.
• Be adept in using a variety of social media channels and platforms.

Skills:

• Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to represent the charity in a variety of settings.
• Be able to prioritise and demonstrate excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent IT skills in a variety of website platforms and applications which should include Microsoft Office, Wix and WordPress.
• Ability to identify needs and set up new systems and procedures

What the job involves

We’re an ambitious charity with a bold mission and a fantastic culture. As we embark on an exciting 3-year fundraising strategy, we’re looking for a Senior Direct Marketing Executive to join our Individual Giving Team here at Prostate Cancer UK. This is a newly created role within the team which will oversee acquisition and new product development.

You’ll be part of an exciting time at the charity, joining us as we roll out our new Fundraising strategy and continue investment in Acquisition. In this role you’ll take ownership of planning, implementing and reporting on fully integrated acquisition campaigns across a range of channels including DRTV, Digital, Telephone, SMS and OOH.

You’ll work closely with teams from across the organisation and our media agency to ensure a truly integrated, collaborative approach. Together with the team, you’ll identify opportunities, apply learnings from past campaigns, and enhance future performance.

You’ll also be integral to driving forward new product development to acquire new regular givers. Leading on testing across the Acquisition team, you’ll innovate to drive the lowest attrition, best ROI and strongest lifetime value. You’ll collaborate with colleagues from across the organisation to drive the best creative, messaging, targeting and data insights.

What we want from you

Aside from excellent knowledge and experience of working in a direct marketing environment managing fully integrated campaigns, you’ll also have strong digital campaign management experience, ideally gained from a fundraising environment. You’ll have experience in developing and implementing effective testing strategies and ideally also have experience in developing new marketing or fundraising products.

You’ll possess first class communication skills; a strong team ethic and you will be at ease working with and influencing key internal and external stakeholders at all levels. The ability to manage expenditure budgets and projects is also essential, along with proven knowledge of data protection and sector compliance.

Overall purpose of the role

The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional communications to enhance Orbis UK's profile in both the UK and the Middle East. The position is responsible for implementing strategic plans for UK and Middle East audiences, while supporting the Media and PR Manager in boosting Orbis UK's brand presence. The role also includes leading reputation and crisis management responses and plans.

The Media and PR Manager reports directly to this position, and together, they will collaborate to deliver effective communications plans. There will also be opportunities to work with the wider Orbis UK communications team on cross-departmental campaigns, appeals, and events, including VIP visits and integrated marketing campaigns.

This role encompasses communications planning, media relations, stakeholder management, reputation management, copywriting, and at times, event coordination. It requires strong relationship-building skills and the ability to manage projects across different teams and countries. The role is responsible for three key areas of work:

i) Overseeing the delivery of the media and PR strategy to increase brand awareness of Orbis within the UK and the Middle East through pitching and placement of high-quality media coverage, proactive PR initiatives and reactive press office opportunities within a range of publications that align with our target audiences and partnerships. This will include managing the Media and PR Manager, working with key stakeholders such as the Royal Press Office and key funding and programme partners, and supporting delivery of Orbis UK integrated marketing campaigns

ii) Implementing grant communication plans by creating content for website, social media and press activities for key partnerships

Using customer, market and financial data and insight you can make decisions to drive long term growth.

A strategic thinker with expertise managing commercial projects who can achieve objectives through analytical insights. You are agile and responsive to both internal and external factors with a knowledge of new and emerging technologies and trends in the events fundraising space. You also have the ability to interpret customer, market and financial data and insight to inform recommendations.

An excellent communicator and project manager, comfortable with juggling multiple, often conflicting priorities you'll work in matrix style across two key areas of the team.

Working arrangements

This is a 12-month fixed term contract. 
 
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

The Marketing and Communications Officer is an important role at the College as you will proactively support the creation and execution of targeted marketing campaigns and activities, helping to ensure that the RCPCH continues to lead the way in children’s health.

As Marketing and Communications Officer, you will create high-quality and compelling content in multiple formats, ensuring it is on-brand, whilst also taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of paid marketing campaigns across social media and other channels.

A key member of the marketing team and reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will proactively work with stakeholders to gather required content and assets to ensure College marketing priorities are carefully planned and scheduled. You will analyse reporting data to improve marketing performance, whilst frequently liaising with stakeholders to suggest enhancements and improvements and advising on how to optimise.

With a good standard of education, you should have demonstrable experience of Google Analytics and email marketing, whilst having a background in Multi-Media Content production with experience of editing.

The Role

The Media Manager plays a central role at our charity, working closely with the Head of Media and Media Officer to manage the public relations function. You will be responsible for helping to develop and execute national and regional media campaigns to help people better understand our mission and motivate support.
