About The Role

This role will lead the Trusts & Foundations team at Home-Start UK and drive the development and delivery of a fundraising strategy that builds on a recent period of significant growth. With projected income of £1.5 million in 2025/26, the successful candidate will focus on generating sustainable, high-return income through charitable trusts and foundations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Establishing a robust process for researching and identifying suitable funders.
• Submitting high-quality funding applications.
• Providing excellent stewardship to existing grant funders.
• Building a strong pipeline to secure long-term income from trusts and foundations.

In addition, the role will support the organisation in cultivating key philanthropic relationships - particularly with high-net-worth individuals who may give via their trusts or foundations—leveraging the skills, experience, and resources of the Trusts & Foundations team.

Ultimately, this work will enable Home-Start UK to support more families with young children through challenging times.

Make-A-Wish UK is seeking a visionary leader to drive public fundraising and supporter engagement at scale. This strategic role oversees all public income streams, including: individual giving, legacies, events, and innovation, while leading a high-performing team and sector-leading Supporter Care function.

You'll shape long-term growth, deliver significant income targets, and champion a supporter-first culture across the organisation. As part of our Extended Leadership Team, you’ll influence board-level decisions and help ensure Make-A-Wish UK continues granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Core Purpose: 
The Head of Public Fundraising is a pivotal strategic leadership role at Make-A-Wish UK,   responsible for the strategic direction, planning, delivery, long-term growth and performance of all public fundraising and supporter engagement activity.
 
This includes   strategic oversight of all public income streams - individual giving (cash, regular giving, lottery, payroll), legacies, in-memory giving, challenge events, community fundraising, owned products, and innovation—as well as   operational leadership of the Supporter Care team, which manages supporter care, income processing, data imports, and inbound queries for the whole organisation.
 
The role leads a multi-disciplinary team of around 20, across four core public fundraising and engagement functions, who are responsible for delivery of a high-performing public fundraising programme and sector-leading supporter care function - acquiring, engaging, and retaining supporters at scale, growing income sustainably and ensuring every interaction reflects Make-A-Wish’s values and drives long-term income growth.
 
This role contributes to over 50% of the charity’s total fundraised income, plays a critical role in long-term sustainability, and operates at cross-organisationally to embed a supporter-first culture, championing   segmentation, stewardship and integrated journeys that drive lifetime value. The role is responsible for delivering significant and growing income targets, developing multi-year investment plans, and influencing organisation-wide strategies to ensure we are equipped to serve a growing supporter base. The postholder is part of the Extended Leadership Team (XLT), reporting to the Director of Income & Engagement, and influences decisions at Board level through strategic investment planning and performance reporting.

Essential Criteria:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in public fundraising, with a strong track record of income growth across a broad portfolio of income streams (e.g. individual giving, legacies, community, events, innovation, lottery).
• Experience of leading the development and implementation of organisation-wide strategies, and aligning team plans to broader strategic priorities.
• Demonstrable success in a senior leadership role of similar scale and complexity, with full accountability for strategy, delivery, performance and people management across multiple teams and functions.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering large-scale fundraising strategies, investment plans, and innovation pipelines which supports the organisational vision, mission and strategic objectives.
• Significant experience of leading both income-generating and operational functions (e.g. supporter experience or donor services).
• Highly experienced in developing and delivering multi-channel and multi-product acquisition, engagement and retention strategies to engage a range of supporter audiences to grow a supporter database and increase lifetime value.
• Highly experienced in using different direct marketing techniques across a range of channels including DRTV, DM, F2F, TM and digital marketing, with a proven track record of income growth within a fundraising environment, developed and delivered with a focus on future sustainability.
• Strong background in managing multi-million-pound budgets and long-term ROI models, including regular Board-level reporting.
• Strong external representation skills, including managing relationships with key suppliers, agencies, and sector partners.
• Demonstrable ability to lead insight-driven innovation, with experience of testing, scaling and refining audience-led approaches.
• Comfortable using digital tools, automation or CRM platforms to optimise supporter journeys and improve operational efficiency.
• Deep understanding of UK fundraising regulation, supporter data compliance, and charity governance. Awareness of organisational risk and compliance, including how regulatory or reputational risks impact strategic decision-making.

Strategy and Planning

• Develop, own and drive the Make-A-Wish Public Fundraising strategy and roadmap, aligning it to organisational goals and strategy, and ensuring long-term scalable, sustainable income growth.
• Shape strategy and long-term plans across all public income streams: individual giving (cash, RG, lottery, payroll giving), legacy, in-memory, third-party events, community fundraising, owned products and innovation.
• Use insight, segmentation, and lifetime value data to inform fundraising planning across acquisition, engagement, and retention. This includes owning the Make-A-Wish supporter segmentation model.
• Ensure the team adopts a test-and-learn culture grounded in insight, continual improvement and audience understanding.
• Lead the development of scalable propositions, product strategies and audience approaches across all public income channels.
• Set up and model new income streams from scratch (e.g. lottery and regular giving programmes), with robust 10-year financial investment cases to inform Board-level decisions.
• Oversee the development of the engagement strategy for these supporters—defining its purpose, positioning, and role in supporting income growth, supporter satisfaction, and operational excellence.
• Oversee the development and delivery of a comprehensive Supporter Care Roadmap, ensuring all inbound supporter touchpoints are high quality, timely, compliant, and aligned with Make-A-Wish’s tone, values, and fundraising activity.
• Provide strategic leadership to the Supporter Care function, ensuring it is fully embedded into the public fundraising model and capable of scaling as supporter volumes grow, including future-facing processes, tech use, and journey mapping.
• Lead strategy on audience journeys and supporter touchpoints, including Make-A-Wish’s Contact Strategy, driving joined-up experiences and consistent messaging.
• Contribute to the overall organisational strategy through Extended Leadership Team (XLT) engagement, ensuring public fundraising is fully integrated. Act as a senior leader within Income & Engagement and across the organisation, contributing to cross-functional strategy and planning.

Operational Delivery

• Oversee the delivery of public fundraising programmes across all channels and products, ensuring alignment to income, supporter volume, and ROI targets.
• Lead the development and testing of new fundraising propositions, programmes and products, in line with audience needs and market opportunities.
• Oversee the team to deliver multi-channel campaigns across DRTV, direct mail, F2F, telemarketing, digital and social - working closely with agencies and internal teams.
• Ensure all supporter journeys across fundraising and experience are aligned, data-driven, and optimised to deepen engagement and improve retention.
• Oversee the operational performance of the Supporter Care Team, ensuring efficient income processing, compliant data handling, and prompt responses across phone, inbox and other inbound channels.
• Deliver continuous improvement across supporter care workflows—introducing training, process optimisation, documentation and KPIs.
• Ensure fundraising and supporter care functions meet all regulatory requirements (Fundraising Code, Gambling Commission, GDPR), including acting as the lead for the Gambling Commission.
• Lead strategic projects at XLT level that improve supporter engagement, fundraising effectiveness and operational scalability.

Financial Management

• Hold responsibility for multi-million pound income and expenditure budgets across the department.
• Lead business planning, investment proposals, budgeting, and reforecasting across all public fundraising and supporter care activity for 5 to 10 year plans.
• Build and manage multi-year investment models to inform income planning, particularly for high-potential streams like regular giving and lottery.
• Monitor and report on financial performance, providing insight, variances, and recommendations to senior stakeholders and the Board. Monitor return on investment across products and channels to inform future strategic decisions.
• Support senior managers to manage their budgets effectively and adapt where needed to maintain financial performance.
• Ensure all activity within supporter care operations is cost-effective, accurate and delivers strong value for money.

People Leadership and Culture

• Provide strategic leadership to a multi-functional team of approximately 20 colleagues, including four senior direct reports across core fundraising and supporter servicing functions.
• Set a clear team vision and ensure that performance, culture and development support organisational ambitions and create a supportive, inclusive culture focused on shared goals and continuous improvement.
• Embed a high-performance culture through clear goals, coaching, accountability, and personal development plans.
• Champion coaching, cross-team collaboration and a test-and-learn culture - empowering staff to innovate and drive impact.
• Ensure Supporter Care staff are resourced, trained and empowered to deliver a high-quality supporter experience that aligns with strategic goals.
• Lead on culture change within the Supporter Care function, embedding shared purpose with fundraising and a deep understanding of how supporter experience contributes to retention and long-term income growth.
• Shape the future structure and capability of the team to support long-term growth, including the integration of the Supporter Care function into the public fundraising model.

Stakeholder and Supplier Management

• Lead strategic supplier relationships across fundraising and experience (media, creative, F2F, print, fulfilment), negotiating contracts and ensuring high-quality delivery.
• Build strong internal relationships with stakeholders in Brand, Digital, Tech, Finance, Data and Wishgranting to deliver joined-up strategy and planning. Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to deliver integrated, insight-led supporter journeys and ensure shared accountability for audience experience
• Collaborate with the Head of Brand & Comms to ensure fundraising communications reflect the brand and improve audience engagement.
• Represent Public Fundraising at the Extended Leadership Team (XLT), contributing to cross-charity strategy, insight sharing and project delivery.
• Act as a key internal ambassador for the supporter, using insight and feedback to shape fundraising propositions and operational improvements.

Data, Insight and Innovation

• Work in partnership with Data & Impact to develop insight tools and reporting dashboards to track performance across both income and supporter experience.
• Oversee use of segmentation, audience journey mapping, and predictive analytics to inform both fundraising and operational planning.
• Lead on Make-A-Wish’s innovation pipeline within Public Fundraising, identifying opportunities for new product development and managing test-and-learn pilots through to scale.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to ensure fundraising and supporter care stay relevant and responsive to audience expectations.
• Own delivery of the supporter care improvement programme, embedding measurement of satisfaction, service levels, and team performance.

Myeloma UK is looking for a driven and pro-active Events Fundraiser to join our growing Community and Events team.  You’ll be joining the team as we continue to refine and expand our mass participation events portfolio including London Paris Ride, Great North Run and 100 miles for myeloma. You will have experience in event delivery or project planning, delivering these activities within tight deadlines while successfully building effective relationships.

The role holder will have strong administration skills, attention to detail and work as part of a team.  You will be self-motivated and able to work remotely with little supervision, managing a wide range of tasks and having an interest in sporting and mass participation fundraising events.

Previous experience or knowledge of digital marketing, virtual fundraising events and using Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM system would be an advantage but not essential. 

About the role

As the Events Fundraiser you will be required to research, promote and deliver fundraising events, campaigns and activities, providing excellent stewardship to supporters, whilst working to help achieve monthly fundraising income targets.  You will work to deliver an annual calendar of runs, walks, challenge and sporting events across the UK as well increasing support through Myeloma UK virtual and Facebook events.

The role holder will work with the Senior Event Development Fundraiser to provide the highest quality of event delivery as well as developing relationships, securing support, marketing, delivering and monitoring the event ensuring post event evaluation and future recommendations are made.  They will also work closely with Community Fundraisers, supporting them as they identify opportunities to expand and diversify their fundraising portfolio.

You will work with other teams, develop materials required to support all marketing and promotion of events, ensuring organisational brand, style and key messages are adopted and ensure maximum use of database and other technology to increase operational efficiency within event fundraising.

ROLE SUMMARY

This role will be pivotal in devising, executing, and evaluating impactful marketing and communication strategies that resonate with key audiences and advance upReach's mission of transforming social mobility in the UK. The successful candidate will split their time between PR and external affairs (50%) and marketing campaign development and delivery (50%), with flexibility to adjust based on organisational priorities.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, and closely collaborating with the Junior Marketing and Communications Manager on specific projects, focussed on increasing press coverage, creating compelling marketing materials, and delivering impactful campaigns. You will work closely with the wider team to ensure all communications align with upReach’s brand, with the ultimate aim of championing upReach's mission to transform social mobility in the UK. You will also support upReach in fulfilling our 2024-27 strategic objectives.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

PR, External Affairs & Policy:

• PR Strategy: Contribute to the development and implementation of a PR strategy to raise awareness of upReach and the cause of social mobility, secure new partners/funders, and attract student applicants. 

• Media Content: Create press releases, opinion pieces, blogs and research that reflect the charity’s policy positions on key social mobility issues, and keep upReach website up to date with the latest coverage and articles. 

• Impact Monitoring: Track and quality score incoming press coverage to analyse performance and adjust strategies based on incoming insights, pro-actively securing additional backlinks.

• External Stakeholder Management: Help respond to incoming media inquiries, ensuring timely responses and distribution of materials. Cultivate relationships with journalists, media outlets, influencers, other social mobility organisations, and other key stakeholders to expand upReach’s visibility, updating the CRM and journalist database accordingly.

• Media, Policy and Research Monitoring: Track and respond to relevant social mobility and education-related policy changes in the UK, ensuring upReach has an active voice in these discussions where appropriate and disseminating key updates to the wider team. 

• Award Submissions: Support the identification and submission of high-quality award entries to build upReach’s profile across key target sectors.

• Crisis Communications: Support in the preparation of responses to any external inquiries or crises, ensuring upReach’s reputation is protected.

• Patron and Ambassador Research: Assist in the research of potential high-profile ambassadors for upReach, ensuring they align with our mission and values.

Marketing Campaigns:

• Student Attraction: Support the delivery of upReach’s student attraction strategy to raise awareness of upReach amongst eligible undergraduate students.

• Campaign Support: Assist in the planning and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns that drive engagement with beneficiaries, partners, donors, and funders.

• Content Creation: Work closely with the marketing team to produce compelling digital and print content, including case studies, social media posts/templates, blogs, email campaigns, videos and more.

• Brand Consistency: Assist in reviewing external-facing materials to ensure they align with upReach’s brand guidelines, tone of voice, and key messages. Act in a consulting role to support the successful delivery of Associate-focussed communications. 

• Marketing Asset Management: Maintain a comprehensive inventory of marketing materials, ensuring resources remain up-to-date and relevant, while monitoring distribution amongst the team.

• Monitoring and Evaluation: Assist in reporting on the success of campaigns using tools like Google Analytics and social media insights.

• Collaborative Marketing: Collaborate with other charities, higher education institutions, and student societies, to develop co-marketing opportunities that expand programme reach among target student audiences.

Other responsibilities:

• Manage the External Affairs rotation to help one member of the Future Charity Leaders Programme (FCLP), upReach’s internal graduate scheme, to learn more about this area of the charity.

• Continue to develop skills, knowledge and best practice that will enable you to excel in the role, including training on pitching to the media, crafting compelling content and building press relationships.

• Undertake other marketing, communications or administrative tasks that are required within this role.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone who is passionate about social mobility and believe that background should not be a barrier to graduate employment. 

To be successful, you would ideally have experience in marketing and communications, particularly in executing PR and policy strategies, facilitating media relations and/or running successful communications campaigns. While not required, experience within a charity, social impact or education-focused organisation would also be highly beneficial for this role.

Required skills:

• Written Communication: Ability to write in a clear and persuasive way that breaks down complex issues into digestible content (e.g. press releases, social media posts and newsletters). Excellent verbal communication for networking, media relations, and public speaking.

• Media Knowledge: Good understanding of the media landscape, with experience in managing media contacts, securing coverage, and building relationships with the press.

Background information

The Director of Business Development is primarily focussed on growing commercial opportunities and engaging at a strategic partnership and corporate level. The Head of Fundraising and Communications will boost the capacity and leadership of the team to develop voluntary fundraising, lead on smaller corporate partnerships, develop grants and trusts income, create and deliver headline grabbing campaigns that appeal to the wider public thereby developing an individual giving function and lead on organisational communications, including fundraising comms. Job description 

Education

• A relevant professional qualification at SCQF Level 9 or above or equivalent knowledge acquired by other means.

Experience

• Experience in both fundraising (multiple and sustainable income streams) and communications(fundraising and organisation-wide), with evidence of developing strategy and delivery as well as management and leadership of these areas.

• Proven success in securing  income through a range of income channels including grants and trusts, partnerships, running campaigns, and raising profile.

• Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on activity delivery.

• A track record of planning and delivering successful multiple and sustainable initiatives at a local and national level.

• Excellent writing, storytelling, and communication skills across multiple channels.

• Experience of working with and supporting senior leaders (e.g. comms, media engagement).

• Experience  of developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy managing both internal communications and external engagement, ensuring a unified voice across all platforms. This includes ensuring the Communications strategy supports Penumbra’s strategic goals, including service promotion, policy influence, fundraising, and brand awareness.

• Experience of managing projects from inception to completion.

• Sourcing and sharing powerful stories from service users, staff, and volunteers, using personal experiences to demonstrate the impact of Penumbra’s work and humanise mental health issues.

• Acting as Penumbra’s lead for media relations, securing press coverage and responding to media enquiries in a timely, professional manner. This includes developing relationships with key journalists, mental health advocates, and influencers to increase Penumbra’s profile. Leading on the creation and delivery of public-facing campaigns to raise awareness of mental health challenges and reduce stigma, including high-profile events like Mental Health Awareness Week.

Knowledge

Head of Communications
Location: London Hybrid – flexible with 50% time in office

The Head of Communications and Campaigns is central to making this vision a reality—leading a dynamic team that builds public awareness, galvanises support, and helps drive systemic change.

In this key leadership role, you’ll shape and deliver strategic communications and impactful campaigns that elevate Centrepoint’s voice as a thought leader, share insights from programmes like Upstream Prevention and Independent Living, and help grow a powerful movement committed to ending youth homelessness.

You will be responsible for creating campaigns that raise both brand and cause awareness, engage individuals and partners, and influence public attitudes and policy. This includes high-profile public campaigns designed to shift perceptions and build empathy, alongside collaborative political campaigning that complements the Public Affairs strategy led by a separate directorate. Proven experience in leading non-partisan campaigns that achieve measurable shifts in public opinion is essential.

Additionally, you’ll provide strategic communications support across the organisation, including fundraising, ensuring all messaging is aligned and impactful. With supporters playing a crucial role in our mission, your work will help prioritise and optimise communications to maximise reach, engagement, and influence.

About the Role:

As Head of Communications, you will lead the organisation’s communications strategy, ensuring our messaging is clear, compelling, and rooted in the realities of the people we support. You’ll oversee media relations, digital content, campaigns, and internal communications, building our profile and strengthening our ability to influence both hearts and minds.

You’ll also work closely with senior leadership and campaigners to develop high-impact public messaging that challenges stigma, shifts perceptions, and supports our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and delivery of a cross-channel communications strategy aligned to our mission and values.
• Oversee media relations, public campaigns, digital storytelling, and brand – ensuring consistent, impactful messaging.
• Line manage and develop a skilled team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
• Act as a strategic advisor on narrative, positioning, and crisis communications to senior leadership.
• Champion the ethical use of lived experience in our communications, always with dignity, consent, and authenticity.
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, partners, influencers, and allies to amplify our reach and voice.

About You:

• A senior communications leader with a strong track record in charity, media, public affairs or campaigning – ideally within the social justice space
• Excellent strategic thinking, storytelling, and audience engagement skills – with the ability to turn complex issues into powerful, people-led narratives.
• Skilled in leading high-performing teams and managing communications across digital, press, and campaigns.
• Confident working with senior stakeholders, managing reputational risk, and responding to media attention.

An interesting and varied editorial opportunity to support the work of the Connexional Team and the wider Methodist Church in its Publishing Services producing principally ‘digital first’ resources.

About You

We are seeking a meticulous and organised copyeditor to uphold editorial excellence and to excel in project management for meeting tight deadlines.

As part of Publishing Services it is essential that you are experienced in leading the editing process: overseeing editorial quality, shaping compelling content across digital and print outputs, ensuring adherence to house style and tone of voice, while inputting to design concepts.

You will be a versatile copyeditor with a meticulous eye for detail, demonstrating excellent editorial and project management skills. As an effective planner you will manage the work of an Assistant Editor and freelance editors to ensure delivery of high-quality products, on time and budget.

Hybrid Working: Connexional Team staff based at Methodist Church House have a hybrid work pattern which is currently 2-3 days in the office.
