Job description

The British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) is looking to appoint a highly organised and resourceful Operations Manager to lead the day to day-to-day management of our operational, events, administrative and HR functions. Working closely with the Chief Executive, the successful applicant will ensure the organisation delivers its operational objectives to budget.

As the national professional body for art therapy, we work to raise professional standards of art therapists in the UK and promote a better understanding of the benefits art therapy can bring in promoting wellbeing and good mental health across all communities. With the recent appointment of a new Chief Executive, we are looking to further develop the organisation with the appointment of an operational manager.

BAAT promotes art therapy to policy makers, opinion formers and the general public. We provide a wide range of member support services, ranging from training events, national and international conferences, a peer reviewed journal, member magazine and e-bulletins.

The successful candidate will be a confident and resilient manager, with an ability to work creatively on tight budgets, with at least 5 years’ experience of operations and office administration in a similar not-for-profit or membership body, including at least 2 years in a managerial role including experience of managing events.

The successful applicant will join a small, professional staff team based in our office that is located within an arts-based community centre a few minutes’ walk to Angel tube station and 15 minutes’ walk to Kings Cross. We are currently working remotely because of the pandemic, but are looking to return to a part in-office and part home based working practice.
