The newly created Advice & Support Team plays a critical role in delivering Battersea’s strategic focus on early intervention in the pet ownership journey. By offering well-timed expert and empathetic support and advice before owners reach crisis point, the team aims to prevent avoidable animal welfare issues and reduce the number of pets relinquished for preventable reasons.

This role will be pivotal in bringing Battersea’s ambitious Advice & Support strategy to life. It will involve leading and developing innovative, partner-oriented projects that provide practical solutions - from helping prospective owners make informed acquisition decisions to supporting struggling cat and dog owners when they need it most.

Success will require working cross-functionally within Battersea while also building and managing strong, ongoing relationships with external partners at a senior level both inside and outside the animal welfare sector. Current initiatives, such as our partnership with FareShare and pet food manufacturers to deliver pet food to owners in need, illustrate the type of collaborative, preventative work this role will initiate, manage or expand.

3 Year Fixed term contract

The Senior Partnerships Manager (SPM) is responsible for overseeing the grant management of assigned grants, primarily a large grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), as well as contributing to proposal development, representing AKF(UK) at various events and meetings of technical groups, and supporting AKF(UK)’s partnerships with ADB and others. The SPM will also support AKF’s global partnerships function. 

Grants Management

• Provide overall guidance, oversight, compliance and quality control and coordination for all components of the assigned grant portfolio (at the start, this will include one large ADB grant). The SPM will work closely with the in-country project management unit (PMU) to ensure the project(s) are delivered on-time and on-budget and proactively support the resolution of challenges as they arise.

• Support the preparation, review and feedback process on donor reports to ensure reports comply with donor requirements and are produced on time and to a high standard.

• Be an interface with the donor and communicate on a regular basis about implementation to maintain a solid relationship and to address queries or challenges effectively.

• Support the PMU in the contracting, management and oversight of consortium partners, and external service providers e.g., in monitoring, evaluation and audit.

• Provide regular updates to senior management regarding progress, risks and mitigation measures.

• Provide training and guidance to the PMU and implementing partners on ADB compliance and ensure all donor requirements are complied with, including procurement, environmental and social safeguarding.

• Take part in monitoring missions (as the security situation allows) and support monitoring and evaluation efforts.

• Work closely with finance teams in the UK and Afghanistan to ensure transparent, compliant and timely financial reporting and budget revisions as required.

• Provide technical assistance and advice in specified areas and provide training and tools to support project teams in overall grant management and quality control. 

Resource Mobilisation

• Liaise with Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and other Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) implementation units to identify new funding opportunities.

• Develop new funding partnerships and opportunities with ADB and other partners as relevant by leading concept/proposal design and development in coordination with country units.

Networking and building public awareness

• Establish collegial, mutually beneficial relationships and share knowledge and expertise within the AKF and AKDN as appropriate.

• Participate as a member of and provide support to the UK and Global Partnerships teams, including managing and contributing to processes related to resource mobilisation and grant management and mentoring partnerships staff.

• Collaborate with communications teams to develop stories, briefs, and other materials related to the grant portfolio.

• Develop positive working relationships with external stakeholders, particularly donor representatives and other NGOs.

Leadership and People Management

• Provide guidance and horizontal management to the PMU.

• Set the example of consistently high standards across the unit

• When relevant, play a leading role in the development of further concepts and proposals for ADB, in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders across country units.

• Filter the team and unit's documents ensuring improvements in standards of writing, presentation, content and context

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field highly preferable

Experience

• Minimum 6 years of professional experience with a minimum 4 years in a programme management role (preferably in NGOs). Field-level implementation or management experience is highly preferred.

• Proven grant management experience of complex projects, including a strong understanding and experience with meeting donor criteria in project design, reporting and monitoring/evaluation, environmental and social safeguarding, and other compliance matters.

• Experience with development bank funded programming, including with the Asian Development Bank, is highly desirable.

• Proven experience of managing multi-stakeholder partnerships, complex relationships and consortia projects.

• Experience in resource mobilisation, developing relationships with multilateral donors and developing and writing complex proposals is desirable.

• Experience of working within federated organisational structures and within matrix-style team structures.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of development bank operations, priorities, systems and processes highly desired.

• Knowledge and experience of gender sensitive results-based management and evaluation with particular attention to assessing gender equality results.

• Knowledge and experience of environmental and social safeguarding mechanisms and best practices.

• Understanding of fragile or post-conflict contexts, and ideally, the Afghanistan development context.

• Knowledge of disaster risk mitigation, livelihoods support, and/or Nature-based Solutions is an asset.

Skills

• Superb analytical, organisational, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

• Proven interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds with a high degree of cultural sensitivity. Comfortable working across time zones and in cross-cultural settings.

1. Volunteering & People Manager (80% of workload)

You'll become a key cog at the heart ofFree to Be's management team, taking lead responsibility for volunteer and staff recruitment and retention, holding and delivering our volunteering strategy, launching a new training infrastructure through 2026-27, and heading up 'all things volunteering'. With one direct report, you'll aim to grow volunteer numbers year on year, ensure volunteers are well matched, and well supported, onto our residential projects, and lead on quality assurance, including volunteering standards concerns/grievances.  Alongside our Services, Operations and Fundraising Managers, you'll be a core management team member holding shared responsibility for the day to day running of an impactful and growing children's mental health and adventure charity and will work closely with our inspiring and supportive CEO to set longer-term key strategic goals underpinning Free to Be's future development.

2. Residential Project Lead Coordinator (20% of role)

Our residentials are fun, immersive, tiring (in all the right ways), impactful and inspiring. A core aspect of all Free to Be Kids staff's roles is leading circa 8-10 of our residential projects across each year - working on the ground with the children, leading the volunteers & staff team on project, and helping make the projects special, safe, and transformative for vulnerable young people, many of whom have damaged confidence, low self-worth, or other social-emotional needs. 

Attendance at approximately 8-10 five-six night residential projects per year outside London is a core component of this role. As a manager, you'd likely attend 8-10 residentials in year 1 to build familiarity with both the projects and our volunteer base, with this dropping to c.8 per year thereafter.

On offer to the right candidate:

Salary: Circa £38,000 - £40,000, dependent on experience.

Hours: Fulltime: 37.5 hours per week. Essential attendance on at c.8-10 residential projects a year.

Leave: 25 days per year, plus bank holidays and up to 13 additional pre-set discretionary reward days in September and during the Christmas period. A substantial perk of the role is potential to take up to 4 consecutive weeks off to travel each September.

Other benefits: 4% employer pension contribution paid on full base salary, rising by 1% per year of service, up to a maximum of 7%; hybrid working; office with great transport links; flexible working (outside core hours); employee reward scheme; tight-knit, fun, vibrant, cohesive staff team with great morale.

Volunteer Management or HR experience is a bonus, and capacity and personality to quickly pick that up is a must, but ultimately we're looking for the right organisational fit - someone who believes in what we do and wants to step up to join a management team working hard to deliver it. 

You’ll have the flexibility to work away from home on (up to) 10 five to six day residential projects per year. Ideally, you’ll also have experience of leading projects for children – whether residential or non-residential - for example as a teacher, or running groups in other settings. Experience of working on or leading residentials projects themselves is not required but may be an advantage.

We are a small, vibrant, 'can do', friendly staff team of 10, supported by a committed volunteer base of around 300.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:  

The Grant Portfolio Manager plays a central role in ensuring the Maitri Trust’s grantmaking delivers maximum impact. You will manage and support a diverse portfolio of strategically aligned partners, building close and flexible relationships to strengthen capacity, track progress, and respond to challenges as they arise. Alongside this, you will co-lead on the design, delivery, and onboarding of new partners through open calls helping to identify impactful and scalable initiatives. Working closely with colleagues across the team, you will help ensure that evidence from the portfolio drives learning, decision-making, and strategic alignment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

Management of Existing Grants & Partnerships 

• Manage a portfolio of strategically aligned partnerships – supporting them through the Maitri Trust’s grant cycle, managing risk, and monitoring impact. 
• Provide high-level advisory support and capacity building to grantees, focusing on technical assistance and strengthening partner impact. 
• Maintain oversight of active grants, ensuring compliance with contractual, financial, and reporting requirements. 
• Review grantee reports (narrative and financial) and provide constructive feedback to strengthen accountability and performance. 
• Represent the Maitri Trust in relevant partnership discussions, forums, committees and external events. 

Open Calls & Onboarding of New Partnerships 

• Work closely with the Head of Programmes, Grant Operations Manager and Impact & Engagement team to design and deliver open calls for funding. 
• Support the review of applications and prepare recommendations for decision-making. 
• Onboard new cohorts of partners, ensuring alignment with our strategy. 
• Manage ongoing partner relationships to support long-term impact.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning 

• Build open and trusting relationships with partners to understand impact, successes and challenges, and share learning and adaptations. 
• Work closely with the Head of Impact & Engagement to contribute to portfolio-wide impact analysis and strategic learning reports. 
• Conduct regular in-person site visits to partners. 
• Support the development and use of partner-friendly monitoring evaluation and learning (MEL) tools and frameworks, ensuring data is meaningful, consistent, and used to drive improvement. 

Collaboration & Support 

• Collaborate closely with the Head of Programmes and Grants Operations Manager to ensure smooth operations of all grant management work. 
• Participate in partner learning and collaboration activities and workshops with the Head of Impact & Engagement and Communications & Engagement Manager. 
• Work closely with Impact and Engagement team to develop content for internal and external communications. 
• Liaise with external technical experts and sector networks to support promotion of the Maitri Trust’s work and partner capacity development. 
• At peak times (particularly during calls for proposals) provide backstop support to the Grants Operations Manager as necessary. 

YOUR SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND PROFILE 

Essential 

• 7+ years of proven experience in grant management within an international development or philanthropic context. 
• Significant experience in providing technical assistance, capacity building, or advisory support to organisations. 
• Postgraduate degree in a relevant subject, or an undergraduate degree plus specific experience in international development or philanthropic contexts. 
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with experience in impact assessment and portfolio analysis. 
• Strong relationship building skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across different cultural contexts. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in preparing reports and recommendations.
• Experience in open call funding processes, grant application review processes, and due diligence.
• Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks.
• Ability to travel internationally and work across different time zones.

Desirable 

• Experience working with educational initiatives in South Africa, India, or similar contexts. 
• Understanding of grant management systems (the Maitri Trust works with Fluxx).

About the Role 

As Partnerships Manager: Changemakers, you’ll lead the team that supports HOST’s global community of hosted partners (HPs). You’ll oversee all Community Support activity, ensuring partners receive the clear, responsive, and values-led service that enables them to focus on making change happen. 

This role sits at the heart of the Partnership Management Circle. You’ll manage a small, high-performing team of Community Support Leads, coordinate cross-team development projects, and ensure that systems, processes, and communications evolve in step with the growing needs of our hosted partners. 

Core Responsibilities 

1. Leadership and Management 

• Line manage the Community Support Team, providing coaching, direction, and performance feedback. 

• Oversee delivery of all Community Support activities, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with HOST’s mission and tone of voice. 

• Coordinate cross-team projects that strengthen HOST’s service offer and internal collaboration. 

2. Hosted Partner Experience and Development 

• Lead the design and delivery of the Hosted Partner Journey, from onboarding to exit. 

• Oversee the production of guides, FAQs, and templates that improve hosted partner understanding and experience. 

• Manage complex partner queries and ensure appropriate resolution in collaboration with Legal, Finance, and Operations.

• Develop and maintain all Community Support SOPs.

Job Purpose

The role of the central charity is to facilitate member support and the successful operation of the charity, lead strategic projects that work to ensure the longevity and sustainability of the global movement and to support the delivery of impactful work in communities that meet our aims.

Like many membership organisations, we need to focus on turning membership decline into membership growth. This role evolved from and is an integral part of the “Reimagining MU” project, where we looked at opportunities to secure the future of the movement.

The post holder will work directly with members and across the charity leading campaigns and programmes that help and support the communities in which we serve, drive membership growth, increase valued engagement and income opportunities, promote Mothers’ Union within the Anglican Church, and build effective relationships with external partners and organisations.

This role will lead the implementation of a suite of existing and new Britain and Ireland programmes which include domestic abuse, social justice, and family issues. Also, to look at new programmes and to manage continual programme reviews. These Mothers’ Union National Programmes are being adopted as best practice frameworks for successful community outreach projects by members in the communities in which we serve. It is envisioned that in resourcing and standardising existing work, these robust programmes will serve as vehicles for volunteer and member recruitment in dioceses in Britain and Ireland and be able to secure strategic partners and external funders to support our work.

Main responsibilities

Programme Development, Implementation and Review – Britain and Ireland

1. Work with the Director of Membership on the continued development, implementation and review of a member-informed national suite of Mothers’ Union programmes.

2. Research, review and develop new member resources, packs, and policies and manage access.

3. Work with the wider Membership team on the design, implementation, and delivery of new membership growth models.

4. Work with the Communications team on campaigns and programme branding and promotion.

5. Procure and manage relationships with programme strategic partners and funders.

Membership Engagement and Support

1. Manage relevant Communities of Interest (representative membership groups) for the different programmes.

2. Contribute campaign materials, articles, written printed and web content as required.

3. Support the membership by overseeing programme enquiries, and delivering resources, communications, webinars, podcasts, and events as required.

4. Working with the Membership Engagement Manager to ensure membership growth is reflected in the programme frameworks as an intended outcome.

5. Working with the Director of Membership and the wider membership team to deliver annual and regional events and conferences including the Annual Gathering, Provincial meetings, networking, and celebratory events.

General 

1. To manage existing national programmes; and to successfully framework and resource new MU campaigns and community outreach work into standardised, resourced and branded national programmes that are adopted and utilised by members and attract strategic partners to enhance successful outputs and increased income for the charity.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the legal charity ATLEU (Anti Trafficking and Labour Exploitation Unit), in a vital operational leadership role.  This is a role for someone with extensive operational management experience, ideally within the charity, non-profit sector and in human rights work. You will be a strategic thinker with excellent organisational skills and able to manage multiple priorities effectively. You will bring your skills and experience to a dedicated team that punches well above its weight and is passionate about transforming individual lives and bringing about long term change. 

The Head of Operations will provide leadership in all operational matters, supporting the organisation's mission and long-term objectives, supporting ATLEU’s growth, resilience, and sustainability as well as building a flexible and supportive environment that enables the ATLEU team to do the challenging work that they do.

This role is line managed by and works closely with the Chief Executive. You will be a member of ATLEU’s Senior Management team and work closely with and supervise the work of the People & Inclusion Manager (recently started in post), the Operations & Projects Coordinator and the Billing Coordinator. The Operations team is a small team that works collaboratively to ensure all areas are covered at all times. As such, you will be willing to chip in and take on tasks of other team members if urgent matters arise or when providing holiday cover. 

We are looking for a positive, detail-oriented, creative thinker and problem solver who will build on our reputation for innovation and excellence. You will have a track record of achievement in this field and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong financial and business acumen. Objectives of the post

To lead and ensure the smooth operational running of ATLEU, with particular focus on finance, people, information technology and governance and compliance. 

To manage ATLEU’s team of operations staff including human resources, operations and projects,  finance and external bookkeepers. 

To work closely with the Chief Executive to develop systems for implementing and monitoring ATLEU’s strategic plan. 

Main Responsibilities

1. Leadership and Strategy

• Participate in strategic and business planning processes and play a leading role, working with the CEO and trustees to develop the strategic plan, ensuring all team members understand it and their role in it. 
• Serve as a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) contributing to the strategic direction and day to day management of the organisation. 
• Develop and lead monitoring and evaluation processes for all activities associated with our strategy, including setting and reviewing annual business plan priorities and targets, communicating progress and highlighting potential areas for development and increased focus. Be a champion for embedding learning into the culture of the organisation and collaborate with consultants and staff to ensure there are effective monitoring learning and evaluation frameworks in place across ATLEU’s projects and services. 
• Lead and manage ATLEU’s operations staff, including ATLEU’s Operations and Projects Coordinator, People and Inclusion Manager and Billing Coordinator. 
• Lead the development and maintenance of organisational policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• To work closely with the Director of Saltworks to support the operational running of ATLEU’s  trading subsidiary Saltworks, through developing the financial and operational infrastructure and management of the organisation.

2. Finance 

• Lead ATLEU’s financial planning, management and reporting processes. 
• Direct, manage and document ATLEU’s financial policies, systems and controls, ensuring that financial systems are effective and up to date. 
• Scrutinise monthly financial data and produce financial reports for the CEO and trustees, including quarterly cashflows
• Prepare ATLEU’s annual operating budgets and financial reports for funders and oversee project budgets. 
• Ensure the year-end financial accounts and audit process is completed satisfactorily and delivered on time, ensuring all financial data and other data needed is provided.
• Ensure that accurate records and accounts of monies claimed are held on all cases  and liaise with the Head of Legal Practice to ensure compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
• Oversee ATLEU’s bookkeeping and legal aid billing and reporting and ensure all monies, including grant monies and training invoices are claimed and paid promptly. 
• Maintain oversight of bookkeepers and auditors, taking responsibility for managing relationships with them
• Manage ATLEU’s banking arrangements, ensuring that they are effective, secure and fit for purpose.

3. Office and Operations

• Work with the Senior Management and Operations teams to ensure that all colleagues have the operational support needed to do their jobs effectively; 
• Liaise with building management for both offices, manage any rent negotiations and any future office moves 

• Lead on the annual insurance renewal process, provide the required data and lead discussions with brokers to ensure good value for money on all policies;
• Support the Operations and Projects Coordinator to ensure that both ATLEU offices provide a safe and welcoming environment for ATLEU staff, clients and other visitors and that they comply with all appropriate legislation and regulations;
• Work with the Operations & Project Coordinator to maintain the Office Manual and associated policies and ensure that they are up to date and reviewed as appropriate and monitor compliance with those policies. 
• Oversee day-to-day operations including premises, equipment, IT systems, ordering supplies, procurement and workflow and archive management and ensure that processes are in place to restore functionality as required. 
• To ensure the most effective use of resources and identify areas for cost reduction or cost avoidance along with process and functional improvement, including developing ATLEU’s IT infrastructure to reduce reliance on paper files. 

4. Human Resources

• The Head of Operations plays a pivotal role in mentoring and supporting the People and Inclusion Manager across all HR-related matters, including staff wellbeing and EDI activities. 
• In the absence of the People & Inclusion Manager or when facing conflicting deadlines, the Head of Operations is expected to actively participate in all HR tasks.
• Support the People & Inclusion Manager with day-to-day HR tasks, processes and systems, responding to queries and problem solving when needed;
• Provide guidance to the Senior Management Team with regular updates on HR related issues as needed;
• Support the People and Inclusion Manager to review, develop and roll out HR policies and provide training to staff where required, ensuring they are legislatively sound, fit with our values and align with our strategic goals. 
• Oversee the coordination of the organisation’s volunteer programme, and explore ways to maximise the value both ATLEU and volunteers gain from the programme. 
• Model positive, fair and open people leadership and support other managers in their supervisory capacity.

5. Governance and Compliance 

• Work with the Chief Executive to continue to strengthen the governance of the charity, ensuring that all aspects of governance adhere to best practices and meet regulatory requirements.

• Ensure that ATLEU complies with the requirements of all relevant regulatory bodies including the Charity Commission and Companies House and ensuring ATLEU is compliant with all compliance relevant to a not for profit legal firm e.g the Legal Aid Agency, Solicitor’s Regulation Authority, Specialist Quality Mark, Immigration Advice Authority and CILEX.

• Manage the Board, AGM and committee meeting calendar, ensuring well-structured agendas and facilitating effective decision-making processes with clear records of these meetings and management of actions arising.
• Develop and implement governance policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and organisational needs.
• Ensure the SMT, Board and other parts of the governance receives comprehensive, timely, and accurate information to support informed decision-making.
• Stay abreast of relevant legislation and governance best practices, implementing changes as necessary. 
• Develop and maintain effective systems and frameworks for compliance, risk management, and operational efficiency.

6. Information Technology / Data Protection and Cyber Security

• Support the Operations and Projects Coordinator in ensuring IT systems function appropriately and securely and new systems are developed to improve efficiencies for caseworkers and for audit and research. 
• Work with the Head of Legal Practice and Operations and Projects Coordinator on the continued development of and improvements to our legal aid case management system.
• Ensure ATLEU has robust IT and cyber security policies and procedures in place, and oversee their implementation across the organisation.
• Develop and maintain the organisation’s IT and business continuity plan and update it annually.
• Oversee ATLEU’s day-to-day relationships with external IT support, ensuring IT systems function effectively and providing or facilitating staff support;
• Collaborate with external IT support on projects to enhance and modernise ATLEU’s systems, ensuring they remain up-to-date and secure;

• Take overall responsibility for the data protection obligations of the organisation. Oversee the implementation of up-to-date and compliant data protection policies including data retention and destruction, home and remote working, emails and the internet, and ensure that sensitive and financial information is securely stored and confidentiality and privacy is maintained. 
• Keep abreast of changes and updates to Data Protection legislation and ensure that staff receive regular training on Data Protection and Cyber Security.

The role

As Head of Operations, you will lead all operational functions of Foxglove. You will ensure that our finance, HR, legal compliance, fundraising, systems and internal processes enable the organisation to carry out its mission effectively. You’ll work across Foxglove and closely with leadership, as well as with external partners to build a resilient and well-governed organisation, able to manage growth and complexity while staying mission driven. This role manages one member of staff and multiple consultants.

Financial Management & Accounting

1.Oversee financial operations: budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, expenditure controls, financial reporting, payroll.
