About the team
Part of our Strategy Enablement Directorate, the Data & Insight Team delivers high quality data and database management, administrative services and business insight to the department and other teams across Shelter. Custodians of supporter data for its full life cycle, running through everything we do is a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data quality and embedding a culture of standards, both in terms of compliance and best practice across the department. We work closely with the wider team including our Head of Data and Insight, Data Architects, Data Engineers and Insight Analysts to help Shelter achieve its organisational strategy in helping the fight to end homelessness.
About the role
This is an exciting role within our Data and Insight team. Our Insight Analysts play a key role in defending the right to a safe home, working with complex data and turn it into meaningful insight, trend analysis and forecasting while ensuring our data is fit for purpose. You’ll be using reporting and analytic tools such as Google Analytics to present insight in a range of formats and you’ll be responsible for improving our data collection and use of data to understand the impact of our work.
We’ll also rely on you to advise on the development and implementation of processes for data extraction, cleansing, analysis and visualisation to help drive our learning. Working with the insight and Digital Product teams, you’ll improve reporting quality and capacity across Shelter’s digital services products as well as incorporating new data sets where applicable and continually reviewing our data quality, insights and reporting. And you’ll also advise on the direction and use of analytics before and during a project lifecycle to track and advise the project’s successes and areas we can improve on.

About you
We’re looking for a motivated self-starter to join the Data and Insight team as an Insight Analyst, focusing primarily on the digital user experience (UX) and customer satisfaction needs of a specific contract. This is an excellent development opportunity in the growing field of digital analytics. You’ll be a super-user of Google Analytics, and a confident user of Excel, with some experience of business intelligence tools e.g Power BI.
Strong analytic skills are a must, as is the ability to solve problems and prioritise your own workload. You’ll have meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage and develop both immediate and long-term reporting. You’ll also have excellent communication skills and can confidently explain technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels, as well as being a fast learner who can pick up new tools and concepts quickly. What’s more, you’ll be experienced in blending and interrogating multiple sources of data to achieve actionable insight for different audiences, customers and markets.

About the Team
Amongst other key systems, the ALM team supports two critical CRM solutions which underpin our engagement with both our clients and supporters. We’re also part of the Business Enablement team within Shelter’s Technology & Data (T&D) Department. T&D consists of 30+ people based across the country, with bases in London, Sheffield and Edinburgh and is accountable for developing and leading Shelter’s technology and data strategic priorities and providing a secure infrastructure. The management of data and insight to underpin strategic outcomes, delivery of technology change projects, data governance and provision of support for a range of software, systems and platform tools also fall under T&D’s remit.
About the role
Working as part of a team with a diverse portfolio of skills, as a Dynamics Support Analyst you’ll have plenty of opportunity to deepen your knowledge of our CRM systems, as well as expand into other areas. You’ll be the first point of contact for users seeking assistant with our CRM systems to ensure that they have a seamless experience with troubleshooting, problem resolution and system guidance.
As part of the role, you will also be monitoring and managing the support ticketing system (Zoho ManageEngine), to ensure timely responses and resolution of queries, at times co-ordinating with other teams and taking ownership to deliver a positive outcome for users. You’ll become an expert user of Shelter’s implementations of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, assisting in basic configuration and customisation tasks.
And we’ll also rely on you to help maintain accurate documentation of support processes, provide input for training sessions, feed into the generation of regular reports and gather user feedback to help us identify areas for improvement.
Indeed, you’ll play a key role in helping the teams that are crucial to our mission - teams which provide advice to people in need and help us understand and engage with our supporters.
About you
To succeed, you’ll need a strong understanding of enterprise-level software (ideally CRM) processes, workflows and data management and the ability to provide first level support to end users. You’ll be proficient in Microsoft Dynamics CRM or similar CRM platforms as a system administrator or expert user. You’ll also need to be detail-oriented ,with a problem-solving mindset and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As comfortable helping to generate regular reports as you are maintaining accurate documentation, prior experience in a customer support or helpdesk role is essential. Ideally, we’re looking for an individual who has prior experience working with IT Service/Helpdesks and you’ll able to work effectively both on your own initiative and as part of a team helping Shelter achieve its wider goals.

Education and Training
- Experience and formal training in a recognised Sales Methodology e.g. MEDDPICC, SPIN, Sandler
- BA Hons (desirable)
Demonstrable Experience and Knowledge
- Substantial proven experience in business development, b2b sales, or a similar role, in the service and/or not for profit sector
- Track record of securing seven-figure contracts.
