The Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in the future growth of our newly merged charity and the impact that we can achieve through partnership for people with sight loss.

Role Responsibilities

Purpose of Job

· To coach, lead and manage a team of volunteers

· Drive sales performance to exceed targets, maximising cost efficiency

· Maximise shop profits through delivery of the retail strategy, including income, gift aid donor sign up and conversion, donations and other income generators.

· To achieve compliance with relevant regulation e.g., health and safety and safeguarding, whilst adhering to all policies and procedures

· To promote strong relations within the local community to enhance the profile and good name of the charity

Main Responsibilities

· To deliver shop income plan

· To achieve gift aid income objectives, donor sign up and conversion. Improving processes to deliver maximum value, coaching colleagues to success

· To support and manage volunteer pricing to ensure items are processed in line with policies and procedures, recognising and thanking the team for their contribution

· To develop a culture of ownership and follow up within own team and volunteers

· To adhere to safe, legal & secure requirements and standards for the shop, both front and back of house

· To induct, train and coach new colleagues, as evidenced through induction paperwork and development plans

· To role model and promote effective team communication, celebrating success and sharing best practice

· To liaise closely with the Warehouse Manager, Volunteer Manager and Commercial Manager

· To role model exceptional customer service to supporters and donors, providing feedback in a timely manner

· To ensure the highest standards of customer care and service are demonstrated by self, line reports and volunteers

· Promote, monitor and act on internal and external customer feedback

· To evidence effective local networking to generate donations and volunteer engagement, including local business and other stakeholders

· To monitor and check security of stock and debrief variances with the Commercial Manager

Skills, knowledge & experience

Sales and Profit

· Monitor and be accountable for sales and category performance, as well as ensure that the team are aware of and engaged in the shop’s financial performance

· Foster a creative and entrepreneurial shop environment where team members seek to maximise income in new and innovative ways both within the shop and through a variety of channels, such as community events

· Manage the team to maximise income from Gift Aid on donated products

· Ensure that all of Fight for Sight’s financial procedures are adhered to and executed in a timely fashion by the shop team

Shop Floor

· Ensure sourcing sufficient levels of donated stock locally in collaboration with the shop team

· Establish efficient and commercially successful stock processing systems (such as pricing, quality standards, consumer safety, stock density and culling stock), including backroom systems and ensure these are adhered to by the volunteer team. Ensure that all legal and Fight for Sight’s internal regulations regarding donated stock are adhered to

· Inspire the team to provide a great customer and donor experience, which enables Fight for Sight to attract new supporters every day. Ensure that feedback, including complaints are escalated to the Area Manager within the agreed timeframes

· Empower the team to create original, appropriate and commercially successful visual merchandising displays, including shop windows

· Make sure that all procedures for the sale of new products are followed by the volunteer team (if applicable)

· Work with the Commercial Manager to ensure our shops are in good condition, maximise their potential and are fit for purpose

· Provide a safe and healthy working environment and ensure that all team members are aware of and operate within Fight for Sight’s health and safety policies and procedures, including waste management and customer safety

Leadership – Volunteers

Job Purpose

Volunteering Matters have been working in collaboration with South of Enterprise Scotland (SOSE) to pilot Enterprising Futures in Dumfries and Galloway and due to the success of the work we are expanding this work into The Scottish Borders. With the support of SOSE, we are launching a new project, Enterprising Futures Scottish Borders, where we will use our tried and tested model to enable people to work to remove those barriers, build confidence and introduce the idea of starting their own business.

Our aim is to ensure a better future for all and that the region thrives with economic productivity. From our learnings from Dumfries and Galloway, we are launching a pilot which creates a pipeline for additional and flexible support, empowering women and those from under-represented groups, by introducing the idea of starting their own business.

Our part time Engagement Manager will create a warm referral pathway wherein they attend training events and sessions with Pathways Coaches alongside potential clients, ensuring a smooth and trusting transition to SOSE’s support, stepping back when trust is built. We will support people in the Scottish Borders who experience barriers to education, training, and employment.

As our Engagement Manager, you will directly support people aged 16+ who may have complex and challenging barriers to securing a positive pathway.  This will include barrier identification and removal and where appropriate provide pre volunteering activity as well as volunteering placements in their local area. 

You will engage with local people from under-represented groups in The Borders to realise their dreams and take active steps toward self-employment. Volunteering Matters’ individualised support adapts to the needs of each client whether this is additional funding, support to attend meetings, confidence building, or skills development in a supported volunteering placement. The person-centred, place-based approach to individual support is central to this partnership and leads to meaningful and sustainable impact for all.

Where appropriate you will create bespoke and tailored volunteering opportunities with third sector partners to enable people to build their skills and confidence to take that first step into exploring employment

About the Role

As part of our collaborative Finance Business Partnering team, you’ll support fundraising, communications, advocacy, and activism across Mencap. You’ll provide clear financial advice, insightful analysis, and strong financial management to ensure our fundraising income is used effectively to benefit people with learning disabilities.

Over the next five years Mencap have big ambitions to significantly grow our fundraising income and increase our influencing and campaigning impact to ensure people with a learning disability can live life to the full.

This role is a full time permanent position. There is flexibility around where the role is based. We have large offices in London and Peterborough and smaller offices located throughout the UK.

You will need to travel occasionally for meetings. However, this role will primarily be working remotely.

Key responsibilities include:

• Partnering with directorate teams to create robust budgets and forecasts, offering support and advice for realistic financial planning.
• Providing clear financial reports and analysis to help teams understand results, spot emerging issues, and make informed decisions.
• Supporting complex income forecasting (e.g. legacies), using scenario analysis to guide planning and assess risk.
• Delivering financial analysis and modelling to support investment decisions.
• Ensuring funding applications and management of restricted funds are accurate and compliant.
• Improving finance processes and reporting, including with our new Salesforce fundraising CRM system.
• Acting as key contact for external auditors and funders regarding fundraising financials.
• Ensuring accounting and financial compliance with Charity SORP and other relevant regulations.
• Managing and coaching an FBP team member, supporting their development.

 What You’ll Bring

What the job involves

We're on the lookout for a motivated Direct Marketing professional to bring their skills to our Individual Giving Team, with a focus on retention campaigns.

Direct Marketing plays an important role in the Charity’s fundraising and overall corporate strategy. We’re looking for a confident and proactive fundraiser to take responsibility for the delivery and ongoing development of our current retention programme.

You’ll deliver timely, targeted, relevant communications to our warm audiences; newly recruited and existing cash supporters and regular givers with the aim of strengthening loyalty and increasing their lifetime value.

With internal and external stakeholders, you’ll project manage existing direct marketing campaigns in the form of direct mail appeals, emails, telemarketing and occasional stewardship events. You’ll consistently analyse KPIs and make evidence-based decisions to help assist with growing the programme and delivering our overall financial target.

What we want from you

Aside from excellent knowledge and experience of working in a direct marketing environment, which includes developing and implementing retention focused direct marketing campaigns, you’ll also have a range of channel experience and marketing knowledge.

You’ll possess first class communication skills, a strong team ethic and you’ll be at ease working with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. The ability to manage budgets and projects is also essential, along with proven knowledge of data protection and sector compliance. Knowledge of direct marking and fundraising law would be advantageous.

Our Mediation and Separated Parents Service will help families through conflict resolution, support separated parents and provide safe, child focussed contact.  As Service Manager, you’ll be instrumental in developing and shaping this service, alongside establishing and overseeing new child contact centre services.

This role combines service leadership with operational management, focusing on quality assurance, safeguarding and continuous improvement, and sustainable growth.

The successful candidate will be an experienced service manager within mediation, parental conflict resolution, family courts or child contact settings, including contract delivery, project management, partnership working and managing teams.

You will have knowledge of legal, quality and safeguarding frameworks and experience of managing safeguarding issues. You will be solution focussed, providing positive leadership and working as part of our dedicated, friendly management team. 

In this developing role, you’ll be able to think strategically and be comfortable being hands on.  Initially your focus will be increasing our existing mediation service and separated parents support and managing a small team of practitioners, and then setting up child contact centre services (in line with our NACCC Accreditation) and recruiting new staff and volunteers.

Flexibility in working hours to meet service needs and manage risk or safety concerns is needed and some evening hours may be required and some travelling to other offices and external meeting will be necessary.  Ideally it’s a full-time (37.5 hours per week), but we are open to 4 days or part time working arrangements for the right person.

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Senior Supporter Journeys Executive to help us shape how our supporters experience our charity. Working at the heart of the Individual Giving team, you’ll design and deliver engaging, insight-led journeys that build loyalty, reduce attrition, and encourage long-term support.

This is an exciting time for the charity as we're delivering a new 3-year fundraising strategy with a particular focus on loyalty. In this newly created role, you'll play a key part in making sure every touchpoint, from the first welcome to ongoing engagement, feels personal, timely, and meaningful.

You'll be responsible for developing and improving multi-channel journeys for both new and existing supporters, coordinating the creation of journeys from various channels to help increase conversion. You’ll also support the design and rollout of journeys for key segments, including legacy enquirers and tribute fund donors.

Working with our data and insight colleagues, you’ll monitor journey performance using key metrics like retention and lifetime value. You'll use our CRM and Email Service Provider to identify opportunities, track activity, and coordinate testing of messaging and value propositions to maximise engagement.

As a key collaborator, you’ll work with colleagues across the organisation and with external agencies to ensure our supporter journeys are joined up and focused on the individual.  

What we want from you

This role is a great fit for someone with experience in Individual Giving, donor stewardship, or similar supporter experience roles. You'll have a strong understanding of what drives loyalty and retention, and a clear grasp of donor lifetime value.

Your project coordination skills will be essential as you manage multiple priorities across teams, ensuring clear communication and efficient delivery. We need someone who’s comfortable working with data and insight to inform decisions, using CRMs (ideally Raiser’s Edge) and email platforms like Adestra to improve supporter journeys and campaign performance. You'll also have a good working knowledge of direct marketing concepts and multi-channel delivery, including mail, email, and digital.

We're looking for an independent thinker who can not only manage projects but also proactively identify and develop new opportunities from their own observations. With your collaborative mindset, you'll be able to work effectively across teams and adapt to changing priorities, always focused on delivering an exceptional supporter experience that's insight-led and truly impactful.

About the role

Every year, we support over 4,500 people through our Open Training Programme and reach thousands more through bespoke in-house training and our growing eLearning offer. Now, we’re looking for a Training and Development Manager to take our training to the next level building on our success and helping us grow our impact even further.

We run our training services as a social business, which means we are not just focused on income, but on impact too. Our goal is to offer cost-effective, high-quality learning that helps charities and voluntary organisations thrive. The income we generate plays a vital role in NCVO’s financial sustainability and supports our mission to strengthen civil society.

Over the past five years, we have:

• expanded our reach across the UK
• made our training more affordable for smaller organisations
• diversified our delivery model

Our training programme includes:

• Open Programme: Live online training open to everyone
• In-house Training: Tailored sessions for specific organisations, delivered online or face to face
• eLearning: A fast-growing area we’re excited to scale up.

This role is a great fit for someone who loves variety. You will lead and manage a busy programme with multiple strands, ensuring it runs smoothly and maintains the high standards people expect from NCVO. At the same time, you will keep an eye on the bigger picture; driving growth, developing our offer, and spotting opportunities to innovate.

You will work closely with our subject experts and delivery partners to shape training content that meets the sector’s real needs. You will also collaborate with clients to pitch and secure new business; building relationships that create shared value and lasting impact.

About Services and Partnerships

​This role sits within the services and partnerships directorate.

Our focus is on delivering practical guidance and support which matters most to charities and voluntary organisations across the UK. We do this through practical support, training, consultancy and by developing partnerships with funders and businesses which are committed to supporting the sector.

​Each year, we deliver hundreds of training courses on the topics that matter most to charities, reaching thousands of learners across England. Our work supports organisations of all sizes and has a wide-reaching impact across the charity sector. The insights we gain also inform and shape NCVO’s policy priorities.

The training team includes two Senior Training Officers and a Training Assistant, and is supported by colleagues in our Business Support team.
