Job Purpose

We are looking for a CEO with a passion for animal welfare, who will contribute to our mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing animals in need. Our new CEO will want to actively promote kindness and the prevention of cruelty to animals, and be driven by a desire to give those in our care a second chance in finding their forever home.

They will expand our profile across the Blackpool and North Lancashire region, working closely with the trustees to create a robust business plan, and have overall responsibility for the Branch Centre, our shops and the day to day running of the charity 

Role Responsibilities

People

Have overall responsibility for all branch employees, including recruitment, employee development and performance assessment.

Income Generation, Fundraising and Publicity

Lead income generation, actively championing and contributing to fundraising events, whilst introducing new ideas and new activity.

Have overall responsibility for the Branch retail operation, working closely with the managers to ensure that individual shops meet annual sales targets.

Work with the trustees in developing the retail strategy and the growth opportunities of new outlets. 

Digital Media and Marketing

Be responsible for developing the use of digital media to deliver the charity's vision, mission and strategy.

Work with the trustees to develop a marketing strategy, helping our Branch reach more people and generate additional income.

Financial Performance, Governance and Administration

Together with the trustees, develop and implement robust policies, procedures and controls in line with RSPCA guidelines and law, and produce annual budgets and reports for the Branch.

Security, Maintenance and Health and Safety

Ensure the Branch fulfills its duty of care for the health and safety of employees, volunteers and others on site, and have overall responsibility to ensure that the buildings, land and equipment belonging to the Branch are maintained in a safe and secure manner. 

Animal Welfare

In collaboration with the Animal Centre Manager, ensure the Branch delivers on its commitment to care for and ensure the welfare of animals, overseeing compliance with RSPCA standards and policies, relevant legislation and best practice in the provision of animal welfare services.

Person Specification

You have:

The Role
The Head of Fundraising is a pivotal leadership role, reporting to the CEO and joining the SMT.

You would be responsible for developing, implementing and delivering income generation strategy.

As the sole dedicated income generation specialist, you will take a hands-on approach to all aspects of fundraising and business development, identifying opportunities, building partnerships, securing funding, and maximising income from a diverse range of sources.

The fundraising income is currently c£300,000 per year and they have ambition to grow this to £500,000 over the next three years to ensure that they can continue to be there for older people when they are in need.

You would lead and manage the acquisition of potential donors, cultivate relationships, solicit donations, and engage in ongoing stewardship activities to retain and grow support.

The Candidate
We are looking for a proactive and hands on fundraiser, happy to be a sole fundraiser within a wider supportive team.

Someone with a proven track record of securing significant income from at least three of the following individual giving (including High Net Worth and regular giving), trusts/foundations, corporates, community, and/or legacy support.

We would like you to have experience of developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies and plans.

Reporting to the Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager, you will be responsible for growing support from businesses (currently 30 small corporates) plus local groups. You’ll manage existing partners and build new relationships to hit a £150K annual target.

Fundraising Systems Coordinator

We're seeking a Fundraising Systems Coordinator to coordinate fundraising operations and help transform young lives through music.

Position: Fundraising Systems Coordinator

Location: Gloucester/hybrid (minimum of 2 days in the office per week)

Hours: Full-time or Part Time, 0.8-1.0 FTE (30-37.5hrs week)

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 pro rata

Contract: Permanent

The Role

As Fundraising Systems Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the charity’s fundraising operations. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising, you’ll manage a diverse portfolio of funders, grants, and donations, enabling them to meet fundraising targets and support young people across Gloucestershire.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the implementation and management of a new CRM system to streamline fundraising operations
• Coordinating the submission and reporting of over 80 funding applications annually
• Managing communications and reporting processes for active grants
• Maintaining accurate donor and funder records in line with GDPR
• Leading funder stewardship, ensuring regular tailored communication with funders
• Researching new funding opportunities and presenting findings to senior leadership
• Writing small funding applications using existing resources (with support provided)
• Coordinating a small programme of fundraising cultivation events
• Providing administrative support to the fundraising team, including organising meetings, taking minutes, and staying informed on sector developments

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience of using project management tools/workflows/CRM systems, understand the importance of data in demonstrating impact and be able to manage an ever-evolving range of priorities, deadlines and specific funder requirements.

Essential skills and experience include:

• Strong IT and systems skills, including CRM and project management tools
• Experience in fundraising operations, grant management or similar roles
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
• Based within commuting distance of Gloucester

It would be a bonus if you also have:

• Experience in fundraising stewardship or stakeholder engagement
• Knowledge of Gift Aid and UK giving patterns
• Experience working in the arts, youth, voluntary or community sectors

Role Purpose: We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to lead the development and delivery of The Smallpeice Trust’s fundraising strategy, driving sustainable income growth from trusts, foundations and public sector sources. A natural leader and an effective communicator, the Head of Fundraising will find new and engaging ways to inspire and work with colleagues across the organisation, embedding a culture of philanthropy and external engagement that supports the Trust’s ambitious business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and implementation of the annual Fundraising strategy, ensuring alignment with the wider organisational goals
• Proactively identify and pursue new funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and public sector bodies
• Lead the development and submission of large-scale funding bids (£100k+), clearly articulating the societal and organisational impact of supporting The Smallpeice Trust.

• Own the fundraising pipeline and lead reporting across the team, including regular updates to pipeline meetings, CEO briefings and Board reports
• Work closely with internal teams, including Content & Impact and Programme Delivery, to ensure high-quality, impact-led reporting to funders
• Provide clear leadership and support to any direct reports or cross-functional project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture
• Create and manage the fundraising team’s income and expenditure budget, ensuring financial targets are met and resources are effectively allocated
• Contribute to wider organisational planning and act as a strategic voice in senior-level conversations, championing income generation and external partnerships

What We’re Looking For:

• A proven track record of securing significant income from trusts, foundations and public sector funders, including six-figure grants

· Strong bid writing skills, with the ability to develop compelling cases for support tailored to different funders

· Experience developing and delivering successful fundraising strategies and meeting or exceeding ambitious income targets.

· Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across departments and working at senior levels.

· Familiarity with fundraising compliance, sector standards, and the use of CRM systems for pipeline and performance tracking.

· Ideally, experience workiing in or with education, STEM or charitable sectors

What can we offer you?

The salary for this role is £55 000
