We are looking for a Business & Corporate Engagement Partner to join our North West Operations team. We are looking for an ambitious and autonomous individual to develop, deliver and grow our long-term corporate & Regional fundraising programme.
The key aim of the role is to secure new corporate partnerships which will both contribute to Canal & River Trust’s core mission of Keeping Canals Open and Alive and help companies to achieve their own Corporate Social Responsibility goals.

Purpose of the Job:
The Head of Fundraising will be responsible for leading and managing all fundraising activities to generate income for the Sanctuary. The Head of Business Development works closely with the CEO and has responsibility for all aspects of the development of BLCF’s business interests including long-term income growth, philanthropy, partnerships, communication and new business initiatives. Responsibilities
Work with the CEO and Head of Impact to develop plans and strategies to ensure quality services are delivered that meet organisational objectives and charitable articles to the highest standards.

Ensure an appropriate, effective staff, freelance and volunteer structure to deliver the services; recruit and manage staff & volunteers and resources to achieve required service response and quality.
Ensure all staff development and review processes are undertaken including induction, appraisal, and performance, in line with required processes. Resolve performance issues among staff and volunteers engaged in delivering services.
Performance Management
Working under the direction of the CEO develop, agree, and secure agree all partnership agreements and MOU that support the emerging partnerships and ensure they are in line with the Donor Care Plan specifications.
Working with the CEO and Finance, oversee and monitor all contract and partnership agreement terms with regards to agreed milestones and cashflow of fees and funds; anticipate problem areas and lead as necessary on mitigating action and ensure deliver of agreed targets.

Ensure appropriate levels of training are maintained and a good working understanding of the policies and procedures of the Foundation.

Relationship Management
Under the direction of the CEO develop and maintain proactive, collaborative and effective strategic relationships with corporate partners, commissioners, contract managers, business partners and funders to maximise the charity’s influence and ability to deliver quality services and grow it income and funding.
Manage the Bedfordshire & Luton Funder Network to maximise opportunities for support, collaboration, and information sharing.

Maintain an excellent understanding of business and charity sector issues to better inform our work, ensuring information is cascaded to wider members of the team.
Represent the Foundation at Regional and National events.
Proactively develop and maintain an appropriate network of contacts in the grant making and business sectors.

Experience
Significant and demonstrable experience of partnership working and income generation and growth with a wide range of businesses, funders, Trusts, Local Authorities and the VCSE.
Clear understanding of the wider voluntary and charity sector (D).
Experience of working on delivery and negotiation of complex contracts and partnership agreements and range of successful funding applications to local and national funding initiatives.
Considerable experience of developing business initiatives to drive successful organisations in line with Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) priorities.
Experience in management and delivery of excellent communication campaigns, tools and teams (D).
Understanding of need in the Bedfordshire County (D).

The role will work closely with Africa team colleagues, central fundraising teams (Institutional Funding, Individuals, and Trusts and Foundations) and with our cross-cutting teams based both in the UK and in region. Key external relationships are with multilateral and bilateral government agencies, intergovernmental bodies and other funding organisations. The role will be key to building capacity in fundraising and donor related skillsets, both within the Africa team and with partner organisations, whilst at the same time playing a critical role in securing the funding we need to enable conservation impact and ensuring that nature underpins development and well-being across the region.
The successful candidate will have a Proven track record in leading successful large scale funding proposals, from overall design and writing of content through to logframe and budget development as well as proven ability to secure funding from multi-lateral and bi-lateral agencies (including statutory donors) and the private sector.
With fluency in English, you will have excellent communication and presentation skills to both technical and non-technical audiences and a proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of individuals and organisations.
A good technical background and understanding of a range of conservation issues is essential as is proven experience of influencing donor priorities, negotiating and approving statutory donor grant agreements.
You will have a commitment to building the capacity of local teams and experience in mentoring individual and in developing and delivering training materials.

- Experience in the financial management of grants, including developing budgets for proposals (on a full cost recovery basis), and reporting for donors.
- Strong communication skills – able to accurately and precisely communicate important financial information to non-finance budget holders, and senior management staff, challenge numbers and support in sound decision making.
- Experience of working in an international organisation, in a multi-currency environment, and with colleagues based globally.

We are looking for two qualified accountants to join our Financial Planning and Reporting team. Both positions are as Finance Business Partners, supporting two key areas of the organisation: one will be supporting our Income and Conservation Investment Directorate; and the other supporting colleagues in the UK Countries Directorate more specifically for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Both are key roles within the team working in income generation, and direct conservation areas.
What's the role about:
As a Finance Business Partner you will work proactively with senior colleagues to provide an added-value service of financial support to our Directorates. In addition to a strong management accounting background, you will understand the difference that can be made through strong business partnering relationships and be confident in building those relationships. You will gain the respect and confidence of the colleagues you support through strong communication skills (written and oral) and your ability to constructively challenge ideas and plans. You will add value through gaining an intimate understanding of the Directorate that you partner, together with contributing to business performance and the requirements of the finance function with the charity's need.
You will be a fully qualified accountant with up-to-date technical knowledge and a desire to progress in your profession.
