Service Managers are responsible for their services meeting targets and delivering on contract requirements, including providing the data required for contract and organisational monitoring.

The Service Manager role assumes responsibility for all aspects of SWAN’s Dorset statutory advocacy services. This includes a wide range of advocacy including IMCA, Care Act, IMHA, CHC, Carers and Generic advocacy, and advocacy for parents during child protection proceedings.  Our Service Manager is also responsible for the mobilisation and delivery of SWAN’s social value projects in Dorset.

The role requires a positive approach and a high degree of personal responsibility.  The Service Manager is responsible for the Dorset team’s performance.  Service Managers are experienced and inspirational leaders. They have, or are willing to work towards, a level 5 management qualification.

Direct reports:

Team Supervisors & Supervising Advocates

Duties and responsibilities: General

• To work collaboratively with other mangers and assist, when necessary, with providing cover during periods of absence and play an active part in SWAN’s Leadership Team
• Act as the safeguarding lead for the service
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation, changes to practice and wider activities relating to advocacy; to input to policies / procedures (COVID-19, LPS etc).
• Act as a role model for exemplary behaviour, attitude and mindset, embedding a culture of trust and accountability and challenging non-congruency and negativity
• To undertake all training as necessary and stay up to date with Continuing Professional Development
• Support SWAN to ensure that Advocacy Quality Performance Mark practices are business as usual
• Take responsibility for embedding good Health and Safety Practices and adhering to the Health and Safety Policy

Supervision and Development of Direct Reports

• Responsible for the recruitment of their service team
• Responsible for the effective induction of new staff members and support through their induction period
• Undertake regular supervisions and Personal Development Reviews in line with the Company requirements for all direct reports
• Organise and lead regular team meetings, to provide minutes, actions and documentation for each meeting. Team meetings will include professional development and guest speakers
• Deliver training workshops to the team, including lone working, safeguarding refreshers and the Purpose and Principles of Independent Advocacy (Unit 301) in line with Company requirements and maintain records of attendance
• Ensure all team members’ training is up to date and work with the Training Manager to create new opportunities to upskill the workforce
• Undertake all other people management responsibilities for the team in relation to absence and performance management
• Manage disciplinary and grievance issues if and when they arise

Management of Services

• Lead and manage the service in the delivery of outcome focused, issue based, person directed advocacy, in line with the relevant legislation for the advocacy discipline, regulations, codes of practice and internal policy and procedures
• Mobilise and manage local social value projects
• Responsible for the effective triaging of referrals and allocations of casework after considering prioritisation of cases, current caseloads and team members’ skill set
• Provide temporary cover for own team’s case work during periods of absence
• Complete accurate recording and reporting of all service data
• Ensure the timely completion of high quality commissioning report narratives and case studies
• Work proactively with the statutory services to promote the service, problem solve and uphold the agreed engagement protocols
• Communicate and negotiate effectively with a wide range of people, including commissioners, health and social care professionals and voluntary sector staff
• Identify risks in delivering the service and ensure compliance with risk management procedures
• Ensure the effective management of de-escalating client issues and handling of complaints
• Attend stakeholder meetings, forums and networks
• Ensure that good relationships are developed and maintained with other service providers
• Raise the profile of SWAN in the local area by any means identified as necessary

Qualifications Required:

• Diploma in Independent Advocacy Qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or 4) or willing to work towards.
• Level 5 Management qualification, or willing to work towards

• A record of delivering advocacy or health and social care services
• Experience of managing people and resources;
• Knowledge of contracted services in the voluntary sector

Main purpose and scope of Role

This role will play key to engaging with and supporting PTAs across the region, as well as a variety of stakeholders such as schools, parent groups, local authorities, potential sponsors or supporters and other organisations as our suite of programmes grows. PTA Programme

• Growing our network of PTAs.
• Supporting PTAs through leadership transition to minimise PTAs closing unnecessarily.
• Organising gatherings of PTAs to enhance the PTA community.

• Providing community support to PTAs during peak activity periods online or by phone.

Parent Programme

• Raising awareness of Parentkind’s growing programme of support for parents, directly or indirectly through schools or other partners.

• Organising events for parents as part of our Parent Programme.
• Building relationships with regional stakeholders to support Parent Programme activities.

Other Programmes/Services

• Encouraging uptake or (when charged) sales of our broad and growing suite of programmes and services.
• Identifying and engaging with local and regional partners for our range of programmes.
• Feeding into programme design.

Wider Stakeholder Engagement:

• Attending appropriate conferences and educational meetings across the region. 
• Developing relationships with key local authorities and individuals so they advocate our services and the benefits of our programmes
• Developing relationships with MATs so that they can advocate Parentkind and the benefits of its programmes.
• Identify any opportunities for external funding to from LA’s, Companies, or other funders with the support of our fundraising team.

Organisational Effectiveness: 

• Create and implement operational annual plans and schedules to support our regional targets, ensuring that time specific milestones for their delivery are met.
• Regularly report on the health of our campaigns within your region, through identified KPIs and organisational targets.
• Ensure all knowledge and information is recorded, processed and maintained according to good administration practice.

JOB PURPOSE 

UK for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency's national charity partner, is looking for an ambitious and proactive Corporate Partnerships Manager to join the Private Partnerships & Philanthropy team. 

In this exciting role, you will lead on the management of a number of our existing and new relationships with companies to create and grow mutually beneficial, multi-year partnerships, playing a key part in the success of our annual fundraising programme. About the role
The Corporate Partnerships Manager role is responsible for delivery across the breadth of the partnerships pipeline.  An estimated 50% of the role will be devoted to new business development, including prospect identification, and shaping and delivering pitches and proposals to corporates and their foundations to meet fundraising targets.  The remaining 50% of partnership work will be dedicated to delivering an excellent standard of partnership management to several longstanding existing supporters, working creatively to identify and develop opportunities to maximise their impact.

As our corporate supporters can be powerful partners in the delivery of our advocacy and communications goals you will be confident working with colleagues internally to translate campaign plans into engagement opportunities for private sector partners. You will also be able to co-ordinate colleagues to meet new business deadlines and to ensure agreed partnership deliverables are achieved.

This role sits within our Philanthropy and Partnerships team of five, who focus on income generation through grants, philanthropy, corporate partnerships and individual giving and fundraising.  The post holder will work particularly closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, as well as equipping Directors and our CEO to engage corporate partners and prospects where appropriate.  As a member of a comparatively small, highly ambitious team, there may, with time, be opportunities for the post holder to extend their experience beyond corporate partnerships, into other fundraising areas, should your skill set meet an identified need.

The successful candidate will have accountability for several key areas of operational delivery of BITC’s programmes across England, Scotland and Wales. • To steward regular donors, ensure they receive appropriate thanks and are kept informed
• Develop strategy to increase number of regular donors through the implementation of a regular giving programme 
• Grow and manage the regular donors’ scheme, Payroll Giving, In-Memory giving, and appeals, contributing to the overall fundraising strategy.

Fundraising – Trusts & Foundations 

• Researching fundraising opportunities which are likely to fund the work of CHN, writing compelling grant applications and building and managing a new business pipeline to deliver year-on-year growth in Trust and Foundations Fundraising income 
• Cultivate relationships with prospects and identify appropriate projects or areas of CHN’s work to meet their criteria, developing tailored, persuasive funding proposals 
• Deliver first-class grant management – taking responsibility for all requirements of funders including impact reporting, financial monitoring and reporting 
• Ensure robust and practical monitoring and evaluation plans are in place to demonstrate the impact of grants you manage and report effectively to funders 

Relationship Management 

• Provide excellent stewardship and supporter care to regular donors 
• Produce and deliver tailored engagement plans to deepen and grow CHN donor relationships
• Build and maintain strong internal relationships across the charity to ensure the delivery of CHN’s obligations to our funders 
• Represent CHN at events and networking opportunities as required 

Events 

• Create plan and oversee and work events with the help of a Fundraising/Community Engagement Assistant 
• Line manage Fundraising/Community Engagement Assistant. 

General 

• Manage and provide relevant training for the Fundraising/Event Assistant/Officer 
• Work with the Marcomms Manager and the finance team on the annual fundraising planning process to produce effective budgets and strategies to achieve income targets across all revenue streams 
• Create and manage the community engagement strategy and annual plan to maintain and further raise the profile of the charity while protecting brand by acting as the ‘brand guardian’ 
• Ensure that all activity is compliant with policies and procedures 
• Actively keep current with trends in fundraising

Person Specification: 

• Proven track record in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies and campaigns, ideally with at least 3 years experience in the charity sector or demonstrate they have transferrable skills to move into the charity sector. 
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as the necessary with the nature of the job. 
• Demonstrated ability to raise substantial fundraised income and achieve targets 
• Effective stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally, previous experience of managing client relationships 
• Experience in budget management, reporting, and forecasting 
• Proficient research and project management skills 
• Strong organisation and communication skills, both verbal and written, to influence, motivate, and persuade donors 
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRMs 
• Proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable 

Community Fundraising and Communications Engagement Assistant

£22,500 to £26,000 (FTE dependent on experience). Responsible to the Fundraising Manager and Marcomms Manager. Two days per week (worked over three days if preferable. Based at Jecca’s House

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the creation, planning, setting up and working at fundraising and community awareness events 
• Face to face community work in the form of hosting coffee mornings and fundraising/engagement events 
• Face to face collection of raffle prizes etc within our communities 
• Poster erection and flyer distribution 
• Recording data from events 
• Work closely with both managers in the MARCOMMS team 

MARCOMMS/Fundraising – General 

• To help the Fundraising Manager deliver a continuous fundraising operation to meet the short, medium and long-term revenue needs of the charity as determined by the CEO and Board of Trustees 
• Establish and maintain positive relationships across the organisation and an in-depth understanding of the charity’s needs and priorities to ensure your fundraising activity contributes positively 
• Monitor, record and evaluate event performance, ensuring targets are met and providing reports as required 
• Spotting fundraising and communication opportunities and raising awareness of CHNs work 

General 

• Integrate with all members of the CHN team to learn the business and gain a full understanding of the charities work in order to communicate this to a wider external audience

Person Specification 

• You will be highly organised, used to working in a fast-paced and autonomous environment and need to be able to plan ahead. 
• You will be proactive, flexible, creative, resilient and able to plan ahead.
• Flexibility is key as this role will require evening and weekend work, time will be given in lieu for hours worked in this situation 
• Computer literate as there will be database and design tools such as Canva to use 
• A team player as you will work with the Fundraising Manager and Communications Manager. Prioritisation is second nature.
• You will be confident using social media, and objective and flexible in the way you use the tools and platforms available. 
• Experience using CRMs is desirable but not essential. 
• This role can be physical – the successful candidate will be involved in setting up and closing of events which may entail some heavy moving and carrying.
