Key responsibilities of the role include:

• To take responsibility for the development and delivery of the Trust’s community engagement activity.

• To be responsible for the impact measurement of the Trust’s engagement and consultation activities. 
• To build and support a diverse range of Community Forums and Networks and ensure they are linked to the development work of the Trust. 
• To ensure other pathways are in place to ‘listen to’ community voices. 
• To ensure other pathways are in place for the community to engage with the Trust in line with our Community Centring ethos. 
• To play an active part in delivering a Trust-wide Stakeholder Engagement Plan, including with responsibility for Member Organisations. 
• To work with colleagues inside the Trust and externally on the development and innovation of grant making, capacity building, health, social justice and anti-racism. 
• To be part of the Trusts effort in driving innovation, including engaging with the balance between social and commercial returns. 
• To engage with the Board of the African Caribbean Cultural Centre, in line with Trust policy. 
• To engage with the Steering Group of Bay 20 (or the equivalent), in line with Trust policy.

Knowledge and Experience:

Leadership responsibilities

As Senior Philanthropy Manager (Maternity Cover) you will:

• Proactively build a personal portfolio of HNWIs and UHNWIs able to give £1m+ through relationship development, appropriate and dynamic pitching and influencing and negotiating expertise.
• Effectively line manage three direct line reports. Lead by example and support high performance, ensuring the professional and personal development goals of staff are met.
• Proactively manage, with the prospect research team, the philanthropy team’s new business pipeline to achieve team and organisational objectives, working across the Strategic Partnerships department and across the WaterAid Federation as appropriate. 
• Be the senior level contact for all aspects of event planning and delivery, supporting the Philanthropy and Events Manager to manage the strategic planning, development and running of an events programme to time and budget for the benefit of the Philanthropy and Trusts Team, and where appropriate, the wider Strategic Partnerships Department. 

Requirements

To be successful, you’ll need:  

• Proven track record of raising “Principal gifts” of £1m+.
• Proven ability to manage a successful philanthropic portfolio, achieving targets as part of a strategic plan and maximising income from existing supporters.
• Experience managing the complexities of income management and KPI’s to monitor the teams progress and growth.
• Experience of line management / supervising the work of others; leading and motivating others and driving change.
• Be confident in leading work with senior level stakeholders, both internally and externally, in order to secure significant grants and manage strategic partnerships, using tact and diplomacy.

King’s Global Health Partnerships works with health facilities, academic institutions and governments to strengthen health systems and improve the quality of care in five countries: Somaliland, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and The Gambia. We bring together health, academic and international development expertise from King’s College London, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and our international partners to:

• Educate, train and support healthcare workers
• Strengthen healthcare and training institutions
• Enhance national health policies and systems

Our partnership in Somaliland is over twenty years old and over that time we have built a track record in health workforce development.  With a focus on Maternal and Child health we have supported our partners in Somaliland to strengthen pre-service education and training for the next generation of doctors, nurses and midwives. 

Our partnership in Zambia is six years old. King’s Global Health Partnerships (KGHP) initiated a long-term partnership with Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital and Ndola Teaching hospital, in Ndola province, Zambia. Work in Zambia has focused on maternal and newborn health, breast cancer surgery, antimicrobial stewardship and health worker wellbeing.

KGHP is based within the School of Life Course & Population Sciences. The School of Life Course & Population Sciences is one of five Schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. The School unites experts across 5 departments, Women and Children’s health, Nutritional Sciences, Population Health Sciences, Ophthalmology and Twins & Genetic Epidemiology, overall covering the complexities of life course health & disease from individual cells molecular genetics to whole population level.

Our research links the causes of common health problems to life’s landmark stages, treating life, disease and healthcare as a continuum. We are interdisciplinary by nature and hugely successful: 91 per cent of our research submitted to the Subjects Allied to Medicine (Pharmacy, Nutritional Sciences and Women's Health cluster) for REF was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. We use this expertise to teach the next generation of health professionals and research scientists. Based across King’s Guy’s, St Thomas’, Waterloo and Denmark Hill campuses, our academic programme of research, teaching and clinical practice is embedded across all SLCPS departments.

About the role

We are looking for a Programme Manager to lead on the management of our current programme activities in Somaliland and Zambia. The role will lead on the management of various grants/ projects within our Somaliland and Zambia partnerships as well as strengthening our partnership approaches in these two countries. The role will be responsible for project closeout, startup of new projects secured as well as developing new funding proposals to support the aims as set out in our partnership and organisational strategies. 

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. BSc or MSc in Global Health or International Relations or aligned subject
2. Relevant experience managing multiple projects (including large and complex grants/contracts) throughout the full project cycle, preferably projects delivered by consortiums
3. Relevant experience working collaboratively with partner organisations in low resource settings
4. Financial management and budgeting experience for complex multi-year, multi-partner projects
5. Experience of developing MEL strategies for large and complex programmes, including developing indicators, theories of change, learning processes
6. Experience coordinating and managing the development of successful funding proposals including institutional donors such as FCDO and the DHSC
7. Significant experience in donor compliance and relationship management, preferably including trusts and foundations and institutional donors
8. Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias

Desirable criteria

1. Knowledge/expertise of global health, health systems strengthening, or health workforce
2. Exceptional planning, organisation and execution skills
3. Strong communication skills: written and verbal

Salary: £28,000 plus London Weighting (£2,600) dependent on location

Location:Remote with frequent travel to projects in Hampshire, Berkshire and London. This includes projects in Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Havant, Portsmouth, Southampton, Slough and Reading. You can also work from FoodCycle’s office in Vauxhall, London

In this role you will have the opportunity to manage and develop our community meals projects in your region. Our projects are spaces where volunteers are empowered to run their own community meals using surplus food. Our guests can look forward to a hearty weekly meal in their local community where they will make friends and feel well nourished.

You will manage recruit and train local volunteers to be empowered to run these projects. You will liaise with a network of charities, build local relationships and create the most incredible community meals in your area. You will also line manage a Project Support Officer working across London and the South East.

You will be an excellent communicator, with experience of recruiting and managing volunteers. Using strong organisation skills, you will ensure our volunteers are trained, supported and on-message with FoodCycle strategy, and are confident enough to self-organise and make a success of their projects.

You will live within Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, or London with easy access to these counties (South, West, or North West London). You will be willing and able to travel within the region, and to work some evenings and weekends.

• Identifying and securing a range of budget relieving Gift in Kind and Pro Bono opportunities ensuring that the personal and/or brand exposure from such activities is commensurate to the value of the gift.
