SPANA - The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad is the global charity for working animals in low-income countries. Since 1923, we have supported the welfare of working animals, including donkeys, horses, camels and elephants, in communities that depend on working animals for water, transport, agriculture and their very survival. Today, we support working animals across 26 countries, through a series of global projects and partnerships.

The Head of Global Operations is a key member of the Global Resources Team, responsible for professional business support at both a strategic and an operational level across the organisation. Key responsibilities include providing essential operational infrastructure to the global support and country teams, encompassing office facilities, travel security, and IT and HR services.

While we classify this role as hybrid, it's worth noting that the vast majority of your work can be done from the comfort of your own home. Occasional in-person visits to our London office (located in Borough High Street), and all-staff gatherings will be necessary. Our full time hours are 34.5 hours per week and we offer core working hours between 10am and 4pm.

Key responsibilities

• To provide the global support team and country teams with the necessary operational infrastructure/elements (including office facilities, travel security, risks), IT and HR services that respond to the changing ways of working for the organisation.
• The role will be required to develop an IT strategy and lead on organisational IT projects in collaboration with other departments, facilitating the rollout, implementation and monitoring against key milestones.
• To develop and implement a global workforce strategy, implementing organisational initiatives, including EDI, L&D, our wellbeing offer and lead on team communication related to HR matters with the wider organisation.
• To build a culture of safeguarding within the organisation by implementing and delivering SPANA’s global safeguarding framework across SPANA’s Global Partners.
• To ensure the Duty of Care framework is in place covering risk management, international travel procedures, crisis management, incident reporting, standard operating procedures and capacity building across SPANA’s Global Partners.

About you

• Proven experience in Head of Operations role or similar.
• Experience of working for an INGO or similar global nonprofit entity.
• Good solid understanding of Operations, IT, HR, Safeguarding and Duty of Care services. 
• Experience of providing strategic leadership across the broad range of operational activities.
• Business analysis skills, identifying needs and determining solutions.
• Ability to foster innovation and continuous improvement of systems, processes and infrastructure.
• Knowledge of best practice in critical operational areas – including security management, data protection, cybersecurity and contract management.

Bid Writing and Management

• Lead in all elements of the bidding process which includes writing competitive bids within strict deadlines.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Previous experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities, this includes a track record of securing new bids and/or retaining existing contracts
• Previous experience in bid/proposal writing, reviewing, and editing
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, experience in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability and willingness to travel and attend market engagement events and to visit services to gain greater understanding of what SIG offers and to inform teams of relevant tender responses
• Ability to create and write engaging content, with proofreading skills
• Proven ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral and ability to build relationships
• Ability to review large amounts of information and research materials to inform model development and shape tender responses

The Role

As a Project Lead for the ASB team you will be:

• Managing a small team of ASB caseworkers including performance management, monitoring and support

This is a full time role working 5 days out of 7 including weekends and bank holidays.

We are looking for an Events Manager to lead and grow our corporate and private events business at WWT London Wetland Centre. You will lead this department to be a successful, profitable operation, consistently delivering events at the highest standards for our clients.

You will maximise revenue through existing and new opportunities, building our reputation with a commercial focus. You will lead the events team and collaborate with others across London Wetland Centre and externally, in delivering the following:

• Corporate hire - meetings, networking events
• Corporate days – team building, work parties on reserve & grounds
• Private events - birthday parties, wakes, memorials
• Venue hire
• Networking events for like-minded organisations
• Partnership/marketing events

London Wetland Centre has a key role to realise our strategy and the new Events Manager will make an important contribution to our goals.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of planning and delivering private events, functions and corporate hire. They will have sound business acumen with a commercial mindset whilst maintaining a good eye for detail in the standards and service we deliver across the business.

About you

We are seeking candidates with experience in managing the development,  production and delivery of web content and digital products, including e-learning resources, videos, podcasts, and images, for a high traffic and information rich website.

The successful candidate will have experience of implementing a digital-first strategy which supports and refines customer-focused outputs. You will be versed in content management systems (e.g. WordPress), information architecture, and user-experience (UX) design as it pertains to effective usability and accessibility. Employee Relations

You’ll have overall responsibility for the Carer’s hub, where carers can drop in for advice and support, manage a small caseload, and support the delivery of the service’s range of activities as required, including respite activities, online groups, face-to-face sessions.

We are looking for a great motivator with excellent communication and organisational skills. Applicants should have relevant team or project management experience in social care, health, education or the voluntary and community sector. You will have experience of working with vulnerable adults and/or children and operational knowledge of multi-agency working. A practical understanding of barriers faced by unpaid carers, and an awareness of cultural differences will be key in this role.

This is a full-time role and the postholder can either be based in the community in Lewisham or our New Ash Green office, with travel to the other area/ office 2 days a week. The postholder must have access to their own ULEZ compliant car.

Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.

Within this role, you will achieve agreed fundraising targets through effective management, support and cultivation of both existing and new regional supporters including: individuals, groups, associations, local corporates and schools whilst maximising the current portfolio of Mencap owned products. The role is home based. There will be travel around the areas that the role covers.
