Our Personal Safety Project (PSP) is a free service which aims to help older people who have fallen or are at risk of falling at home. The service is available to anyone aged 50 and over who lives in the borough of Croydon.
Our trained assessors carry out a comprehensive risk assessment to identify potential causes of falls and hazards in the home and can arrange for stair rails, grab handles and other necessary aids and adaptations to be supplied and/or fitted, free of charge. The project can provide ongoing telephone support for up to six weeks to monitor the risk of further falls post engagement.

Your role is about creating a safe, calm, and welcoming space where guests can rest, feel respected, and be treated with dignity. You’ll build trust through friendly conversation, keep an eye on everyone’s wellbeing with regular checks, and step in when problems arise – from offering reassurance to someone in emotional distress, to calmly handling challenging behaviour, to calling emergency services if needed.
Most nights are steady and focused on guest support, but there can be moments of pressure. We’ll provide training so you feel confident and prepared. You’ll also help serve a light breakfast in the morning and ensure our equipment is packed and ready for the next night – with one of you driving the van back to base.

What You’ll Do
You’ll be part of the overnight team making sure our night shelters are safe, supportive, and welcoming spaces for everyone staying with us. This is an awake, overnight role, you will be alert and engaged for the whole shift. Your main responsibilities will include:

Welcoming and supporting guests – Create a friendly, respectful atmosphere and build positive relationships with guests, volunteers, and colleagues.

Staying alert all night – Carry out regular checks around the shelter (every 20 minutes) to make sure guests are safe, and comfortable.

Responding to situations – Calmly manage any issues that arise, such as someone feeling unwell, experiencing emotional distress, or showing challenging behaviour. This may sometimes mean calling emergency services. Training will be provided.

Keep the shelter safe and secure – Follow all safety, security, and health and safety procedures. This includes locking and unlocking doors and making sure the space stays tidy and free from hazards.

Recording important information – Write clear, accurate shift reports and note any concerns or observations. Complete incident forms if needed.

Supporting volunteers – Offer direction and guidance to volunteers on shift so everyone works well together.

Enforcing behaviour expectations – Address situations where may display challenging behaviour, using a calm and respectful approach, conflict de-escalation training is provided for all staff.

Packing and unpacking the van – unload equipment and supplies into the van at the start of the shift and repack at the end of the night. The allocated driver will return the van to base (driver shifts are paid for an extra hour).

Restocking supplies – Keep an eye on essentials such as tea, coffee, and toilet paper, and restock from the van when needed.

Preparing a simple breakfast – In the morning, help serve drinks, toast, and porridge, and make sure guests are woken from 6am so they can leave by 7am.

Tidying and closing down – Gather equipment, pack it away, and ensure nothing is left behind.

Training and meetings – Attend occasional in-person training sessions, team meetings, or other activities. From time to time, you may be assigned online training to complete while on shift.

Work to a rota – Shifts will include evenings, weekends, and public holidays, so flexibility is important.

Job Title: Senior Supervising Social Worker (Specialist Step Forward from Residential Hub)

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Supervising Social Worker to support our first hub of foster carers dedicated to caring for children stepping forward from residential care. You will supervise and support a hub of foster carers and a small number of specialist ‘Step Forward’ foster carers. You will also play a key role in building relationships with new carers prior to approval. Aurora New Dawn is a registered charity providing support and advocacy to survivors of domestic abuse, stalking and sexual violence.
The Children & Young Person’s Advocate will support children at risk of domestic abuse, including sexual violence and stalking within a domestic abuse context within the Thames Valley area. Children will be identified via their non-abusing parent who is already accessing support as a victim of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking from Aurora New Dawn. The support offered to the child will be parallel to the non-abusing parent’s support and offers the parent a safe space to speak confidentially to their advocate.
The Children & Young Person’s Advocate will take part in age appropriate activities via various communication channels with the child. This can include telephone conversations, face to face visits, reading books, arts and crafts and offering an environment for the child to communicate any worries or concerns they may have.

Job Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
You’ll be part of the overnight team making sure our night shelters are safe, supportive, and welcoming spaces for everyone staying with us. This is an awake, overnight role, you will be alert and engaged for the whole shift. Your main responsibilities will include:

Welcoming and supporting guests – Create a friendly, respectful atmosphere and build positive relationships with guests, volunteers, and colleagues.

Staying alert all night – Carry out regular checks around the shelter (every 20 minutes) to make sure guests are safe, and comfortable.

Responding to situations – Calmly manage any issues that arise, such as someone feeling unwell, experiencing emotional distress, or showing challenging behaviour. This may sometimes mean calling emergency services. Training will be provided.

Keep the shelter safe and secure – Follow all safety, security, and health and safety procedures. This includes locking and unlocking doors and making sure the space stays tidy and free from hazards.

Recording important information – Write clear, accurate shift reports and note any concerns or observations. Complete incident forms if needed.

Supporting volunteers – Offer direction and guidance to volunteers on shift so everyone works well together.

Enforcing behaviour expectations – Address situations where may display challenging behaviour, using a calm and respectful approach, conflict de-escalation training is provided for all staff.

Packing and unpacking the van – unload equipment and supplies into the van at the start of the shift and repack at the end of the night. The allocated driver will return the van to base (driver shifts are paid for an extra hour).

Restocking supplies – Keep an eye on essentials such as tea, coffee, and toilet paper, and restock from the van when needed.

Preparing a simple breakfast – In the morning, help serve drinks, toast, and porridge, and make sure guests are woken from 6am so they can leave by 7am.

Tidying and closing down – Gather equipment, pack it away, and ensure nothing is left behind.

Training and meetings – Attend occasional in-person training sessions, team meetings, or other activities. From time to time, you may be assigned online training to complete while on shift.

Work to a rota – Shifts will include evenings, weekends, and public holidays, so flexibility is important.

Help with other tasks as needed – From time to time, you may be asked to help with other reasonable tasks that keep the night shelter running smoothly.

We are looking for a part-time (22.5 hours per week) social media officer to ensure our community is engaged and interacted with through our multiple social media channels. The role is focused on the creation of engaging content for our social media channels, including Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, as well as monitoring these channels and engaging with our followers. ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Events Community Fundraiser will lead the development and delivery of RABI’s community events programme, working closely with volunteers, regional supporters, and local stakeholders. This pivotal role focuses on organising and supporting fundraising events that unite our community while driving vital income generation. The Events Community Fundraiser will not manage every community fundraising event directly, but will provide the necessary support, training and guidance to ensure volunteers and local teams are equipped to execute fundraising activities successfully.
As a key player in our community-focused fundraising efforts, the Events Community Fundraiser will be at the forefront of fostering regional engagement and support for our committees and community groups, ensuring the continued success and growth of RABI’s fundraising events portfolio. This role will also be responsible for identifying and scaling key events that have the potential to be rolled out nationally, expanding RABI’s reach and impact across a broader geographic area.
With a strong emphasis on relationship management and supporter stewardship, the Events Community Fundraiser will spearhead the growth of community-led fundraising initiatives, ensuring that both supporters and volunteers (committee and non-committee) feel valued and empowered. Supported by both centralised and regional teams, this role will play an instrumental part in helping RABI achieve its ambitious five-year fundraising goal of £10 million.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Event Planning and Coordination: Organise and manage a wide range of community fundraising events (e.g. agriculture shows, supporter-led, community and corporate) from concept to execution, ensuring every event is well-planned and runs smoothly.
